We have been coming to this Boutique hotel since before it was Trailborn. However, this restaurant is next level! The sea bass and salmon dishes were moist and flaky. And … the Bruschetta was a party in my mouth! It had sliced figs on top and a blend of diced tomatoes and citrus. The taste left me wanting more! Michelin level experience!
While staying at Trailborn we had breakfast here a couple times! It was always very good food! The avacado toast was huge and I was sooo full after. The bacon was delicious and fruit and yogurt parfait were delicious too. I wanted to keep trying everything for breakfast haha! Hopefully we will be back another year.
This is a must visit dining experience if you are lucky enough to be in Wrightsville Beach Area. I had heard about the renovation of the hotel and restaurant after Marriott bought the Blockade Runner. We got a 6pm seating on a Saturday night and I can tell you it was easily the best dining experience I've had this year. We had a kale ceaser salad to start and split it easily..dressing was amazing. Our entrees were the roasted Chilean Sea Bass and the Spaghetti and Crab. Both were amazing and the portions were generous. We finished with an Olive Oil cake and Gelato. The meal was a value considering the view (see the pictures) at the golden hour nonetheless! Our waitress had a trainee under wing and they both spoiled us silly. They knew the menu and skillfully guided me towards our choices for which I was grateful. I had never been to this hotel and had never eaten here but I know I will be back.
Delightful evening dining outside! Feeling like a tourists!! Meal was delicious! The Waitstaff were very polite! Weather was amazing! Very comfortable atmosphere! And not loud! Great for conversation!
La Duna Paradiso delivered an outstanding dinner that exceeded our expectations. We began with the kale salad and focaccia bread - both excellent starters. The salad was perfectly fresh with just the right amount of dressing, never overwhelming the greens. The focaccia was warm and fresh, creating a nice complement to the lighter salad. For entrees, I ordered the bucatini carbonara, which completely won me over despite not typically being drawn to Italian cuisine. The pasta was cooked to absolute perfection with an ideal texture, and the dish managed to be rich and satisfying without feeling heavy. The crispy pancetta added wonderful smokiness and depth of flavor throughout. The real star of the evening was my wife's halibut - easily one of the best fish dishes we've had in Wilmington. The fish itself was flawlessly executed with beautifully crispy skin, but what made it extraordinary was how all the components worked together. The eggplant and olive caponata, buttered polenta, charred broccolini, and pancetta just created a symphony of flavors that elevated the entire plate. The only minor disappointment was the cocktail program. The honeysuckle soirée was underwhelming - served in a glass that felt barely half-full even with the large ice cube, and the drink itself was quite strong without the smoothness to balance it out. Despite the cocktail hiccup, this was a fantastic dining experience overall. It's exciting to see such a talented, decorated chef bringing this level of culinary excellence to Wilmington. La Duna Paradiso is definitely going on our regular rotation.
La Duna Paradiso is a great spot for breakfast. The avocado toast was really good—fresh and flavorful. If it’s not too hot, definitely sit outside. It’s a nice setup and a great way to start the day.
Service was exceptional and amazing! They were so happy and well versed on the selections and drinks! Food was great- we were blown away by the breads and seafood entrees!! We will be back and send others! Also hotel renovation looks awesome too!

Our team dinner at La Duna Paradiso this past Monday was an absolutely perfect evening, and it was made truly special by our server, Elle. We ate outside on the patio, and listening to the waves crash on the beach behind us throughout the night was wonderful. From the moment we sat down, Elle’s warmth and expertise were on full display. She was a master at anticipating our needs, checking in at just the right moments to ensure we were comfortable without ever feeling rushed. What really set her apart was her deep knowledge of the menu. She patiently answered all of our specific questions and helped us curate a list of dishes and beverages that perfectly suited our small group. Every single one of her recommendations was a hit. The Octopus Carpaccio was tender and delicate and the Diver Scallop Crudo was light and delicious. The Burrata was so tasty, and the House Focaccia had an unanticipated but welcomed crunch on top and excellent flavor. For our mains, the Chicken al Mattone was crispy on the outside and incredibly moist and flavorful on the inside, and the Tagliata di Manzo was cooked to perfection, each bite more delicious than the last. Beyond her professional excellence, Elle was genuinely kind and engaging. We enjoyed chatting with her about her own life and interests, and her willingness to share when we asked her questions made us feel like we had made a new friend by the time we left. It’s rare to find someone who not only provides flawless service but also adds such a personal and memorable touch to the dining experience. Thank you, Elle, and thank you, La Duna Paradiso, for a truly exceptional meal and a night we won’t forget. We will be back!
This restaurant has become a reliable go-to spot for our family since the renovation of the old blockade runner. Consistently excellent food (halibut, kale salad, steak for the table are faves) and great service — Kenna and Nate in particular made our most recent visit a real treat.

If you haven’t tried La Dina Paradiso - you need to add it to your “must enjoy” list. Food was delicious with a great presentation, the ambiance of the restaurant is very classy and with a wonderful view and steps from the beach. Our server Grant was very polite, had wonderful food & wine suggestions - we will definitely request him again. Although we did not have a reservation, Matt the Manager, was very accommodating and gracious to seat our party. Wonderful experience for our family.
My husband told our son, It was $80/person and the best food I've ever had. This from a world-travelling foodie. It started rocky, with his order of a mojito that was more like lemonade with no mint leaves. Although he doesn't usually send things back, he asked for a beer instead, so a manager, a bartender and our waiter brought him a beer AND a monitor full of mint. We shared the excellent kale and bagna cauda salad and the pan-fried and baked flounder special. With his first taste of the entree, he said, Wow, and then asked the waiter if the chef was Asian. She's Korean. It was perfectly prepared and we finished every bite. We're highly impressed.!
We had a great experience—both the food and the service were excellent. A special thank you to Matthew, who went above and beyond when my child was upset about the ice cream flavor I had chosen. Without hesitation, he brought out my son’s favorite flavor, turning tears into smiles. That small act of kindness made a big difference and truly stood out. I had the upmost impressive dinner last night For starters, do you like bread? Because I like bread, and the Rosemary Focaccia must have been made by the Picasso of bread himself, or maybe herself. Unreal The pasta dishes were made perfectly authentic and the service was incredible. We ended our visit with the house made Tiramisu. AMAZING. A true Italian authentic experience on the beach, who knew?
Very very good. On vacation from the Netherlands staying in the Trailborne hotel. Decided to go for dinner and it was really the best we had in the US. Good portion sizes and the taste was phenomenal.
I’ve been visiting this hotel for over 20 years. It’s recently changed ownership and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Well my expectations were far surpassed in the restaurant!! Sarah took great care of us as did the restaurant manager! Wonderful experience! Highly recommend! Absolutely loved the buratta appetizer and my cavatelli pasta! If you live local just come eat and enjoy the ambiance. You won’t be disappointed!
Trailbourn Surf & Sound Hotel Wrightsville Beach NC has outdone themselves. Food, cocktails, and the hospitality is beyond your expectations. It’s a must stay indeed. You are treated like royalty and with respect. All of the staff want you to have the best time ever staying here. Highly recommended. And Jessica and Matthew make it all happen to keep you smiling
I went with my sister in law for a girls night out and we had such a good time! Kolin is an excellent bartender and made incredible drinks. The host , Matthew was so accommodating and sent us free bread for our long wait, and our waitress, Sarah, was so friendly and made great recommendations. We will definitely be back!
What an amazing place! The food is great.. went in for a small snack and had the kale salad and bruschetta.. SO GOOD! Will definitely be coming back again. The atmosphere was wonderful too. The blues and browns are so calming but refreshing. I Love this place and think it’s a great addition to the beach!
Fantastic service, excellent food, and great tunes! My wife and I had dinner here two nights in a row with our 3 boys, and we all thoroughly enjoyed both meals. Our server was Andy, and we’d highly recommend asking for her!
What a great spot for girl’s night out. Beautiful and relaxed atmosphere, very attentive service. The food was delicious. I especially loved the sea bass and the olive oil cake. I will be back to try more of this menu.
One of the best plates of food I have had in a long time. Halibut is one of my favorites, but it is so hard to get right, and I am nearly always disappointed. This was perfect, beautifully fresh and flavored by pancetta, served on creamy polenta and accompanied by charred broccolini and a delicious and slightly spicy eggplant and olive capponata. I had promised to share but didn’t want to. We will be back!

Went for the first time on Valentine’s Day had Jack as a waiter 5000 stars if I possibly could. I am from New York and we literally just got back from the city two days ago and I definitely will put it on that same playing field. Do yourself a favor and check this out. It’s under new management and if you are into Italian cuisine (high-end), this is your place!! Thank you Jack and staff!!
My family enjoyed the best ever traditional Thanksgiving meal at La Duna. Each dish was perfect. The meat was moist and flavorful, each of the sides were either traditional or slightly elevated and delicious. Our server, Nick, was very personable and went above and beyond to make sure our holiday meal was great. I had modest expectations as I’ve often been disappointed when eating out for Thanksgiving. Thank you for far exceeding everyone’s expectations. Amazing!
Checked out La Duna Paradiso for an impromptu date night, and couldn't have been happier! Cocktails were great, food was spectacular. We had the bruschetta and scallop crudo to start, shared the bucatini carbonara and stripsteak, and finished with almond cake and cheesecake. Everything was absolutely lovely. Amazing flavor on the steak, and the carbonara was the exact right level of richness. Luke was our server, super attentive and good suggestions. 10/10 would recommend.
We had such a wonderful experience at La Duna Paradiso! Chef Michele Matthews’ dishes were incredible — we ended up going with the seared halibut served with polenta and broccolini, and it was absolutely delicious. Our server, Matt M., was fantastic — so kind, attentive, and took the time to explain the menu in detail. He really steered us in the right direction with his recommendations. Can’t wait to return!
Beautiful new restaurant with a stunning interior and great atmosphere. Service was excellent and very attentive. The food was a mix. The spaghetti was outstanding (10/10), and the roasted black bass was delicious and well prepared — both highly recommended (10/10) . I love crudo but the scallop crudo was very small and not particularly memorable (7/10). The calamari plancha, unfortunately, was slightly undercooked and felt more like an appetizer than an entrée (4/10) Cocktails were well made, and the staff was happy to prepare a classic drink off the menu. Overall, I would come back for the ambiance and to try other dishes. The place has great potential, though a few menu items could use some refinement.
Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. The food was really good, and the menu was interesting. I was a little disappointed that the food wasn't seasoned as well as I would have expected for such a nice place. I hope to come back and have another try. edit: I added a picture to help you park if you don't prefer valet. The signage to get into the lot is bad, and the rows are completely blocked off except for this one entrance/exit, which doesn't look like what it is.
We were really looking forward to this meal given the reviews and rating but I have to say we were disappointed:( I got the halibut and my husband got the bucatini carbonara and both were not great. The halibut sauce was akin to a bbq sauce with capers and pancetta in it…I think would not recommend.
Food was fine, our server was really great. The cocktails were very bad. There was also very loud construction going on at 6:30 pm in the middle of dinner service. Not a great experience, won’t go back do not recommend
Server was nice, not as attentive as he should have been. The "Michelin chef from NY" was sold, but fell flat. The market salad was dry as cardboard and the beets did not taste fresh (tasted jarred and they were extremely hard) . The scallops appetizer was good. The brushetta appetizer was good. This is where it ends. Our entrees where awful, chicken dish tremendously tasteless sauce borderline horrible. Carbanara not only tasteless but dry as a bone! Waiter didnt check in if we would like more wine or water. Only check in was to take a plate from someone while everyone else was eating!!! (Certainly not "Michelin star" worthy) service 101 (wait until everyone in the party says they are done with the course before you start taking plates). A sub par dining experience that cost quite a few hundred dollars for a party of four. Will not be back!
Below average food ! Stale bread and cold pasta
Scallop crudo was literally non existent. I don’t believe there was 10 grams of scallops… yes 10 grams just garnishments. The sea bass was lukewarm warm at best and the spaghetti with crabmeat was very sparing on crabmeat. Lastly almond cake was dry and not much flavor. It was not crowded and felt the chef could have done a much better job.Probably won’t return
Three couples dined. Appetizers were great! All six dinners were horrible, inedible for us. We have all know, traveled and dined for over 10 years. We had never had such a bad meal, never left food uneaten before our dinner here.
Way over hyped….food was horrible and way over priced for what you get and service was poor. Save your money and go elsewhere on the island.
