Port Land Grille offers a refined and memorable dining experience, perfect for a special evening out. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, upscale, and inviting—ideal for enjoying high-quality food in a relaxed but elegant setting. We started with the pimiento cheese appetizer, which was a flavorful and comforting Southern classic, elevated with finesse. It was creamy, tangy, and paired well with the cracker and accompaniments. For our entrees, we had the Mahi Mahi, Prime Ribeye, Grouper, and Lamb. Each dish was expertly prepared and beautifully plated. The Mahi Mahi was fresh and flaky, complemented by delicious potatoes. The Prime Ribeye was incredibly tender and full of bold, rich flavor—a true standout. The Grouper was delicate, perfectly cooked, and paired with corn and crab chowder and potatoes. The Lamb was savory and succulent, showing great technique and attention to seasoning. For dessert, we shared the bread pudding and crème brûlée, both of which were excellent. The bread pudding was warm, rich, and indulgent, while the crème brûlée had the perfect caramelized top and silky custard underneath. Port Land Grille impressed us across the board with its consistently high-quality food, attentive service, and beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable dinner on a busy evening. Food was delicious and came out surprisingly fast, so fast that it didn't sync with bar service. We ordered cocktails and Redneck Eggrolls to start, and they came out amazingly fast, so fast that our cocktails arrived much later. Our entrees also came out pretty quickly, again so fast they beat the wine, but we still had our cocktails. Dinner was very good, ribeye and scallops special. Coconut cake for dessert was also tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, but with that speed, we were finishing our wine as the check came. It all felt a bit rushed. 5 stars for food, but dissapointed with inability to pace and sync service. Prices points on high side. Cocktails for 2, shared appetizer, entrees, a glass of wine each and shared dessert and tip was $280.

I rarely share reviews unless I feel strongly about something. We were looking to celebrate a special occasion somewhere nice and decided to give this place a try even though we have never really heard much about it. This place was AMAZING. Puts some of the other “popular” restaurants to shame!! From the quick and friendly service, ambiance, the food and drinks, not one thing we experienced or ate was average or ordinary whatsoever. My personal highlights were the sauce paired with the beef tenderloin, the twice baked potato, and the chocolate chess pie! I have no clue why this place isn’t talked about more, we definitely will be back!!

Our server Calvin gave us excellent service and amazing attention and care very warm and welcoming making us feel special with upscale vibes. Crab cake was delicious and well prepared. The wedge salad was a bit bland the menu claimed the blue cheese was chunky but it was quite smooth and a bit watered down and the lettuce paired was also pretty bland even for lettuce. The croutons tasted stale so probably skip the salads for the appetizers which was excellent. The drinks are delicious but they do degrade in quality as the bartenders get busier. My first drink at opening was beautiful and had amazing garnish presentation but as the night went on the glass shape changed and the garnish became a bit more rushed being thrown into the glass rather than presented with a cocktail stick or delicate placement. We got steaks and they were good but definitely wish I tried the fish. The steaks have a strong char on them so you need to really like char fire grilled steak if you want to enjoy steak here. Dessert was amazing we had the coconut cake and bread pudding and both were excellent!

Every course was superb. Started with the pimento cheese and the pickled cucumber and pepper jelly was a nice addition. The tuna appetizer was light and yummy. The filet was cooked perfectly and the twice baked potato was super good. The Key Lime Pie did not disappoint but the chocolate chess pie was unbelievable!!!

This was our first visit. We had an early reservation (5:30pm). We were seated immediately at a table by the window. The atmosphere was nice and quiet with dim lighting which my husband and I both appreciate. Our server Laura was very attentive to our every need. She made our visit here delightful. The white cheddar pimento cheese appetizer was delightful. My husband and I both ordered blackened red snapper which was delectable. It was perfectly cooked and paired nicely with the chowder, corn, spinach, and fingerling potatoes. For dessert, I enjoyed the peaches and cream bread pudding with ice cream, and my husband enjoyed the chocolate pie. We will certainly visit this restaurant again. **We did not think to take pictures until we had already started indulging**

My Fiancé and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at this establishment. I would like to say, all staff were completely welcoming and respectful. The food was exceptionally delicious! I ordered the scallops and my fiancé ordered a ribeye. The plating of our food was exquisite and the ambience of the restaurant was swanky. Our server name was Laura, she was an exceptional server and she exceeded our expectations throughout the evening. I assure you that we will be dinning again at this divine restaurant.

Friendly, welcoming restaurant with gorgeous decor and both a bar area and outdoor (fire pit patio) seating optional. Every single staff person my husband and I encountered was helpful and kind, which makes for a relaxing experience. The drinks were excellently prepared and the food - from app to entree and even dessert - was exquisite. Superior quality dining. An especially perfect place to bring visiting guests, celebrate occasions, etc. Pricier than some of the other area fare, but absolutely worth the extra few bucks. We had salads, grouper with corn chowder and the tenderloin. The photos do not do justice (especially since we started eating before I remembered to take pics).

This place has been important to my family for years. My first visit was for my aunt and uncle's wedding reception more than 15 years ago. I returned many times over the years to enjoy the fantastic food and even better service. This past year, I decided to have my own wedding reception here. The food is great but it is the service that keeps me and my family coming back. Its as well run as any place I have ever been and it shows up in the little things, the details. I was just there again a couple of weeks ago and I cant wait until next time!

This was our first time visiting and I have to say I’m very impressed with this restaurant. Food was phenomenal and their service was excellent l. Mr Calvin was such a darling! He made us feel at home. He took his time and explained dishes we were interested in. The food was served fresh and in a perfect timely manner. I highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Wilmington. Staff was incredibly accommodating. We chose three appetizers to start and to be honest, I’m not sure which was best. They are not kidding when they mention the jumbo shrimp cocktail. The bbq twist on the sauce was delectable. I ordered a ribeye with the twice baked potato and beans. One of the most tender steaks I’ve tasted in recent years. If you’re in Wilmington for dinner, please do not skip this spot!

Update: the owner reached out to us and after accepting our opinion and apologies we came back for a second try! We all have heard of a “Night and Day Difference” and this evening was great ! Our choices tonight were Dotted Rose Snapper for my wife and Grouper for me. Started with drinks and Chicken Liver Pate ! Prior experience: We were out for a celebration with 2 friends and came here based on a recommendation. Unfortunately the meals for 2 people fell short while the other 2 were good but not great. The oysters appetizers were great along with cocktails. The rare ordered steak was over cooked and tough to cut even with a steak knife while the sides of 2 plates including drunkun mushrooms and spinach had very little flavor and were left on the plates after 2 bites! The tiramisu was served frozen and hard which was a taste killer!

We were in town visiting from Nashville, TN and looking for a nice local restaurant. After reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. Laura our server was wonderful. I enjoyed the Mahi Mahi and my wife enjoyed the beef tenderloin. Both were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We will definitely return when we are in town.

Fine dining at it's best! Port Land Grille has amazing food and service. My wife and I love coming here on date nights. The swordfish, mahi mahi, and duck are all delicious.

I've only been there 3 times and everytime it's been outstanding! The food is so delicious and has such unique flavors! They have a large wine selection, and the menu has all different types of food! My favorite two entrees I've had was the halibut with a tomato risotto and beef tenderloin with lobster butter! Their tuna tartare starter is amazing as well! Definitely recommend for a date night, a family dinner, or if you're just visiting the area!

Brandon was very professional and assisted with menu choices because it was our first-time. It was also my birthday which turned out to be great. The crabcakes , salmon and redneck egg rolls were delicious paired with mashed potatoes and asparagus was perfect. The tall coconut cake with lemon icing was amazing. Would definitely come back.

My daughter's and I had the pleasure to have dinner here last Saturday evening for Mother's Day weekend. The service and food was impeccable! We enjoyed everything from drinks, appetizers, entrées and desserts. We had reservations, arrived on time and was seated almost immediately. The food and prices are well worth it. It reminds me of The Angus Barn in Raleigh. When we are back in the area we definitely will be back. The negative comments must be from negative people or don't appreciate fine dinning. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The ambience, service, drinks and food are always excellent. The courses are timed perfectly. I forgot to take a picture of the salad but it was delicious. They got extra points from me this year for their butterscotch cheesecake! It was outrageous!!!

Finally! My husband and I, made it out here “Saturday Night” after so many attempts of planning. It was a last-minute plan to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and it is worth it we came. The food is spectacular ~ 5 ⭐️ all the way! 💯 The food and smells of a wood fire grill bring back memories. Great job guys! We will be back for sure! Here’s our epic list of food for our sumptuous dinner tonight! 😋 Appetizers: * SAKE POACHED JUMBO SHRIMP by the piece with an Asian-inspired cocktail sauce. Perfectly grilled to medium rare ribeyes, thoroughly seasoned and extremely tender. Uniquely paired with lobster butter and the classic grilled asparagus and smashed fingerling potatoes. Great indoor and outdoor atmosphere and excellent service. Very memorable place.

My husband and I had dinner at Portland Grille to celebrate his birthday. We were greeted by the manager and quickly shown our table. Our server, Bob, was kind, responsive and helpful. We shared a wedge salad and then my husband had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. I had the grouper and it was seasoned very well. We both loved our dishes. As Bob suggested, we saved room for dessert and got the homemade coconut cake. It was amazing! We really appreciated the responsive and personal service, and the excellent quality of the dishes. A perfect place to celebrate a special occasion! Thank you Anne!

Fabulous in every way. Service by Calvin & Adrienne was flawless---friendly, knowledgeable & not hurried at all. Food was prepared and plated with full attention to detail. Chilean Sea Bass ordered by both of us----but 2 different yet equally delicious preparations. Dessert of chocolate chess pie and coconut cake was Heavenly! And if you love wine and cocktails, you cannot beat their wine, liquor and cordial list. Our 1st visit on a friend's recommendation & we will be back for sure!

We took our dog to a blessing of the animals service and afterwards decided to enjoy dinner outside at Portland. The staff was so gracious with us having our poodle at dinner! Brought us water in a to go container for him! The food was delicious! We had baked oysters and the crab cake over limas!

My family and I frequent here when we’re in town. Everyone is very friendly, extremely professional, and observant. The food is always exceptional, and the drinks are as well. Outside seating is super peaceful with the accompanying pond next to some seating. Inside seating’s ambience is well done and soothing. Even when our child is upset the staff shows patience and understanding. Would highly recommend eating here.

Recently we went to celebrate my 39th anniversary of PLG, and it was unforgettable first visit. The atmosphere was inviting and the service impeccable. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi and my husband had the beef short ribs. Although I’m not typically a fan of fish, the mahi mahi melted in my mouth and had a remarkable subtle flavor- completely free of any fishy taste. The beef short ribs were equally impressive, tender and packed with flavor. Overall, this meal exceeded all expectations and set a new standard for dining on special occasions. I highly recommend PLG for anyone looking for a memorable culinary experience. Also, don’t forget to polish off the dinner with a delicious dessert.

We celebrated at 60th birthday and I called the restaurant to arrange a special table they were extremely accommodating very professional very customer focused. We were a party of eight and we had a round table. When we walked in the door the hostess greeted us and was very Nice and attentive. We proceeded to the bar for a cocktail and we had two amazing mixologist creating our fabulous cocktails. They were on schedule and set us at our table on time. The service was outstanding perfectly timed for all of our appetizers and entrées and dessert. Steaks were exactly to temperature, great flavor would definitely order the steak again. The seafood dishes were outstanding everyone agreed the meals were high quality and we would definitely come back to this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Port Land Grille delivered great food and service! They served my filet at an excellent medium rare topped with a little lobster bernaise sauce with grilled asparagus and fingerling potatoes . My wife’s salmon came with whipped garlic potatoes and asparagus. Skipped salad and appetizer which appeared shareable at other tables. Decided on dessert, also shareable, instead with the peaches and cream bread pudding with ice cream, excellent.

Port Land Grille is hands down the best restaurant in Wilmington! We sat outside for dinner next to an outdoor heater, and it was so comfortable and lovely to enjoy a fall evening meal outdoors. The food was absolutely impeccable — we started with the Wedge Salad (best dressing ever!) and pimento cheese, followed by the barrel-cut beef tenderloin with a twice-baked potato and green beans. We finished with the most delicious seasonal cheesecake. My favorite cocktail, the Queen Anne’s Lace, was perfection, and we wrapped up the night with espresso martinis. The wait staff is professional, attentive, and truly works as a team (shout out to Rocky & Brandon!). The owner, Anne, goes above and beyond to make you feel right at home. There’s a reason Port Land Grille has been so successful for 20+ years — they consistently deliver an exceptional dining experience. Add this restaurant to your list for your next date night, girls’ night, celebratory dinner, or family get-together. It will not disappoint. Can’t wait for my next meal at PLG!

Best fine dining experience I've had in years. Our group of 15 had appetizer and dessert platters that allowed us to try all the apps and desserts - and all were exceptional. The entrees were all excellent. Yes you're going to drop a few $ so make it special. Excellent food and service. On my list to visit again.

The food and service were equally excellent. Joe was our server and he was amazing from his recommendation to his over and beyond service. He even put the delicious salad I couldn't finish in the refrigerator for freshness. The food is everything! I had the ribeye and my boyfriend had the lamb chops, both we're amazing and plentiful. We we're visiting from out of town but both of us agreed that we will return again when visiting Wilmington.

My wife and I ate at the Port Land Grille for the first time, and it certainly will not be the last! The atmosphere, the service and the food were all outstanding. We started off with the egg roll appetizer and what a great start it was. We then had pan seared grouper and beef tenderloin for our main dishes. The portions were very large and the taste was absolutely amazing. Even though we were so full, we could not pass up the butterscotch creme brulee. A spectacular finish. The service we received made us feel valued. We were not rushed, any questions we had were answered, and it just completed an all around perfect experience. Do not hesitate to try Port Land Grille. You will become repeat customers as we will be!

The Red Grouper was the best I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection with lovely sauce. Others had Mahi Mahi, Scallops, and beef tenderloin. All loved their meal. The Coconut cake is a must try. Really good and big enough piece for 2. If I didn’t live in Southern California, I would come here once a month. We don’t have any restaurants that compare to this . Glad our friends took us here.

We ended up at Port Land Grille in Wilmington since we were in town for the week. It's a really nice spot with excellent food and attentive service. While it wasn't overly crowded for a Wednesday, the restaurant had a decent number of people in there, especially as the evening progressed. Our reservation was at 6:30, and by the time we left, the place was busier. They have a lovely outdoor seating area that many people seemed to prefer, and I can't blame them as it was a beautiful evening weather wise. We indulged in the lamb, ribeye, and short ribs, all of which were delicious. The highlight was the coconut cake for dessert--the layers were impressive, and we enjoyed every bite.

Steak is amazing. Fish is amazing. They can get your order wrong. Espresso coffee not recommended at all. Inside and outside seating available.

This restaurant has a very nice outdoor area. We got there when it was light out and finished up when it was dark & all the decorative lights were on. It was a really nice atmosphere. 5 stars there. The food was a mixed bag. If I was scoring just on the steak and salads it would be 5 stars. We got the "STEAK KNIFE SOUTHERN WEDGE SALAD” and the "FARMER'S MARKET" SALAD. Both were delicious. For our entrees we got the USDA PRIME ANGUS BEEF RIB EYE STEAK 16 0z with the buttermilk-chive mashed potatoes, drunken mushrooms with sautéed spinach, pink peppercorn-horseradish crème option and the Pan-seared NC GROUPER with the ~ shrimp & crawfish succotash, Southern style stone-ground grits, pimento cheese butter option. The steak was an outstanding cut of meat, seasoned and cooked perfect. The mashed potatoes were lackluster. Seems like they needed more butter, salt and cream. The mushrooms and spinach were delicious. As for the grouper, the piece of fish came out not all in one piece. There was a large part on the edge of the bowl and over cooked.(see my pics) It was seasoned well but kinda disappointing. The grits were clumpy/dry. The succotash had one shrimp and I did not see any crawfish. I could have done without the grits and succotash. Just not executed very well. As for the service our waitress was extremely nice but the service was not very good. We ordered an unsweet tea and an old fashion mixed drink. The old fashion took a while to come out. The tea came out sweet the first go around. During the meal I ended up with no tea and waited for a refill a couple times. The wait for our entrees after the salads was way to long. From the time we sat down, ordered, had our salads and then received our entrees one hour 15min had gone by. We sat at 6:30. We finished our meal with no dessert at 8:10pm. Everything just seemed very slow. We enjoyed the atmosphere so it was not a big deal but not ideal. I would go back and try it again but probably make different choices.

I forgot to make a post for this restaurant, I came here to celebrate my birthday around 9 months ago. I made a reservation, and when I walked inside, everyone was so friendly I got many compliments on my dress. I decided that I wanted to sit outside since the weather was lovely, but there was too many flies (not the restaurant fault of course) and I didn't want to risk one flying onto my food so eventually I asked to be moved inside. The "Vietnamese Style" Wagu Beef Meatballs with Peanut noodles wasn't that good.. I felt bad for asking for something else (I ended up getting the egg rolls, I ate it too quickly so I don't have any photos but I recommend that!) And my waiter was very accommodating, he apologized and I apologized back because I didn't want to offend anyone. I also got the duck, coconut rice, red cabbage, wild boar sausage, and broccoli as the main dish. I enjoyed it a lot. It was my first time trying duck, and I didn't get any dessert, but my overall experience was pleasant for my first time at Port Land Grille, I would come back again.

Continental steak house in a cozy, dark space. Well prepared steaks, hearty sides and a good wine list. The service is typically excellent.

Our first dining experience at this restaurant occurred a few days ago. We were seated at a table without a tablecloth, unlike the other tables, and we waited for approximately 15 to 20 minutes to receive service. The culinary experience was impressive, with dishes featuring good flavor and fresh ingredients. The beverages were satisfactory. However, my husband's drink was left unattended, causing the ice to melt. Fortunately, we encountered Marcos, an exceptional waiter, who provided us with the dessert menu and a fresh drink for my husband. He also shared insights about the restaurant and extended an invitation for us to return. We plan to dine here again and will request Marcos, as we are confident in his ability to deliver exceptional service. * If I gave 4 stars for Service is because of Marcos, even though he was not a waiter.

Food was very good. Service was not too bad but could have been better. Server was not attentive as he should have been. Facility was very good

B

Was greeted with nice smiles and pleasantries, quickly escorted to our table and immediately attended to by our waiter. Ordering drinks was a little awkward as bartender was unaware of a couple of drinks, didn't have all the ingredients for one drink and didn't have a blender to make it appropriately. Yet, service was good and waiter attentive and clearly wanted to make sure we enjoyed our experience. Food was generally good yet my red grouper was disappointedly overcooked and tough, although the chowder that accompanied it was good.

R

We had a party of four. We had a 6:45 reservation and were seated right away. We had looked at the menu ahead of time so we already knew what we wanted to order. We didn’t order any appetizers yet it still took 2 hours and 40 minutes. The food was good and the restaurant and atmosphere are nice, but there is no reason that it should take this long. We didn’t eat slowly. There were just long waits for taking our order, getting our food, waiting for the waiter to take our plates, waiting to order dessert, waiting for our dessert to arrive, and then waiting on the check. I appreciate the concept of not being rushed but this was not that. What is was is unacceptable.
