Best! They start you off with fresh crispy bread and an oil cheese dip that is unbelievable. The house salad is amazing. The Alfredo and chicken parm are just so damn good. I really enjoyed my meal! The atmosphere is good. And the staff is friendly and ontop of things! The host is a very nice young lady that was kind and friendly and got us a great table. That was a good hire!! I can’t wait to go back!!
Amazing espresso martinis, delish food, & a great atmosphere! Love coming to Sammy’s! Never leave disappointed. Staff takes care of you like family. We had Ali tonight and she was amazing! Very tentative, and kind! Will always return back!
My company attended an event hosted by Baltimore Orthodontic Group on 11/05/25 and I must say, this place is amazing. The food was great, and the atmosphere was live but chill at the same time. What I am most impressed with is the customer service. I had the pleasure of meeting Amanda and Danielle they are so sweet, but the person that really got me was Ciara. Ciara was so professional, caring and an absolute joy. I told Ciara "you are amazing" and her response was " thats because I love what i do". Listen if ever person felt that way about what they do, people will go out more and interact more. So thank you Ciara for the service you showed me. Oh and I won the GRAND PRIZE!!!!! I will definitely be back here.
Just go! Seriously! The atmosphere is lovely. The bartender was so personable, even though I didn't sit at the bar. I can't remember her name, but she indeed was memorable. We chat for a while prior to me being seated, and her interpersonal skills were top tier! She doubled down as my waiter given it wasn't busy when I visited. She suggested several items on the menu, and the food did not disappoint. I am glad I chose Sammy's to have a quick business meeting and feed my face in the process. I'll be back.
Only my second time here, but not the last. The food was absolutely delicious!
Located on the top level of a large shopping center, it's a must stop by place for lunch or dinner. The restaurant is huge so it can accommodate large parties. It also has an outdoor parking lot so no need to worry about that. In terms of service ... OMG, our server knocked it out the park! It was pretty busy and while at times it felt like it was rushed and she didn't stop to hear us she managed to get it all! She also came back and thanked us for our patience once it calmed down. She also managed to check in on us several times! The food was also delicious!! I got the Toni&Tina chicken with lump crab meat. We also got several appetizers and I think the calamari was the best! It was lightly spiced and with a squeeze of lemon, it was the chefs kiss ! The crab toast was also very good! Very big pieces of lump crab meat and very creamy !
Haven't been out to Italian for a while, and this was a nice surprise. Traditional Italian but also with different twists. We had eggplant, mussels and Sally salad to start. Each had their unique tastes. Then we had duck ravioli, lobster ravioli, scallops risotto, and seafood diavolo. The portions were deceptive large and well done.
This is the 2nd year in a row we have had our work Christmas Party at Sammy's and let me tell you the food is delicious the service is outstanding! Not one single person was disappointed and everyone was talking about having it here again next year! Their house salad is out of this world!
Sat down at 5pm, pretty busy but very well staffed. All dishes were out of this world delicious and I thought the priced were very reasonable for dinner, for the area, and the quality. Very highly recommended. Due to area construction suggest Google maps, walked us right to the doir.
Pretty awesome, great vibe at the bar, excellent bartenders, the bread and oil to start, amazing. Calamari also very good and the carbonara on the creamy side but also very good. We did not know they were open in Hunt Valley, easy to get a seat on a busy Friday evening, highly recommended!
Server had a great personality and very helpful with information regarding our questions about specific entrees and beverages. The meatball appetizer, pizza, salad, scallops with risotto and salmon carpaccio were all delicious with thoughtful presentation. We’ll be back!
Awesome restaurant and bar. Friendly competent service. Wonderful atmosphere... the kind of place where you can leave your wallet and keys on the bar and use the restroom without any worry that something could go wrong (I literally saw someone else do this...)
Went to Sammy's II for a spur of the moment dinner. As usual, service and food were wonderful. Server even recognized my wife from our visits to the original Sammy's. Tagliatelle Bolognese was great and hearty. The duck ravioli was as great as ever. Great service. Great food. Great place. Highly recommended.
Lasagna bolognese is top tier. Renee was our server and gave us a night to remember. Prompt service, friendly and a great attitude. Will definitely be visiting again.
Terrific Italian food, and very welcoming staff. Salads are fabulous and fresh. We have been several times, and really enjoy the lively vibe and friendly service. Julia salad is great each time, and new fav. (pictured) is Crab Toast. Crab Toast is three small crab imperials on sliced Italian bread - absolutely delicious, and in the era of $25 crab cakes, a bargain @ $15!
BF and I came here for dinner last week and everything was delicious! From thr bread basket, to the crab toast app, to my gnocchi entree. Chefs kiss🤌🏼
We had our rehearsal dinner for roughly 45 people here in July 2024 and it was excellent! Renee was super helpful and responsive from the very start of planning. We had it inside in a separate area that was set up just beautifully so that people could mix and mingle in the center, and then sit down at tables on the perimeter to eat. Gabi and Reagan were servers assigned just to us for the night, and they were just wonderful. The food was excellent and plentiful! There was tons of leftovers and they brought out to-go containers so our guests could pack servings for the road. Pricing was beyond reasonable. Honestly I can’t think of anything negative to say, or even constructive criticism to provide. Would recommend them without hesitation! We dream about their tiramisu often… We can’t wait to go back! It’s definitely one of our “spots” to enjoy a nice dinner for date night, friends, or if you’re looking to host a larger dinner.
Office X-Mas party was held here. Great place for large gathering or friends grabbing a meal. Food was delicious, from appetizers, main course, desserts, and drinks. Will definitely return here! Happy Holidays ⛄
Went for my wife's birthday dinner. Service was great, food was excellent, everyone in our party enjoyed everything. Will definitely be going back.
Our entire family was served delicious meals and drinks. It's a little bit pricey but well worth the money. Portions are large. We had a wonderful time.
The food was great and authentic Italian if you don't want to go to little Italy downtown. A little pricey but well worth the money. They also carry Cianti on the wine list which is my go-to with Italian food and it was good. I met my son's father-in-law to chat, catch up, and grab some dinner. We weren't rushed so we had plenty of time to relax and talk over a drink before ordering our dinner. Nice place with clean restrooms as well.
Great place for happy hour or dinner. Great HH menu for drinks and food. Dinner selections have been delicious.
Was just there on September 20th celebrating my 40th class reunion! Went to school with Sammy and it was awesome to see him but the food was absolutely amazing can’t wait to come back to town and visit again!
Came in without a reservation on a busy night, and one of the waitresses was so kind finding us a seat at the bar. She made sure we had space and felt welcomed for being there. The bar service was great, the food was absolutely amazing, and we felt so comfortable and welcomed. I wish I remembered the waitress's name (short blonde hair, glasses), but her service truly made the experience and we weren't even her table! Will definitely come back (with a reservation!).
We had a wedding anniversary dinner for our parents at Sammy’s. I have to say, it was amazing! From working with the planner before hand to the evening of and our in person dinner, this was truly an amazing experience. We did have to wait a little while for the apps, but it was most definitely worth the wait. The staff members were prepared and extremely helpful, and the food was amazing! Thank you for a wonderful experience, Sammy’s!
My family and I went to Sammy's in Hunt Valley on Friday after my daughter's Christmas recital...what a great establishment! The staff were friendly, environment was festive and food was exceptional! We ordered the meatballs, mozzarella sticks as apps and we knew it was going to be a tasteful evening. Can't remember all of the mains we ordered but I did veal parm and the rest was the pizza (darn good!!!), veal with crab and spinach, alfredo pasta and then we did the desserts. Wasn't a fan of the zeppoli though - a bit too chewy as if it was sitting out before we got it. Other than that, what a great time! *If you want a quiet establishment, probably not the best place for you. It can get loud but we made it work*
Our date night was perfect thanks to Sammy's. The food was spectacular, and our server, Cora, was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the olives served with the Charcuterie appetizer, and Cora was kind enough to bring 2 small containers for us to take home. The meal with drinks, an appetizer, and 2 entrees was reasonably priced. We will be back again 😊
TLDR: Great Italian restaurant perfect for family/large group gatherings. Diverse menu with family style serving available. Come for the pasta dishes! Vibe: 5/5 - Located on the top floor of the Hunt Valley Towne Center (near the movie theater), Sammy's II has a prime location. Only steps away from a large parking lot, this is perfect for elderly and handicapped diners that require ease of accessibility. Sammy's II has a large footprint, complete with a bar area as well as main and large group dining areas. The fact that you can dine with a table of 20 or a table of 2 is very accommodating. Decor is modern with some Italian flair as well as nods to their Baltimore roots. Service: 3/5 - My table of 12+ had reservations for Saturday dinner service at 6pm. We arrived a little before 6pm and were seated immediately in the large group dining area. Acknowledging that we were at peak dinner rush, the restaurant was busy in all 3 areas. It took a few minutes for our server to appear, and when she did, you could tell she was a bit overwhelmed. Food and drink orders were somewhat rushed, as you could tell our server was preoccupied with other tables. However, she was very kind and efficient at providing decent service. Empty drink cups sometimes went untouched for long periods of time throughout the meal and it was a bit of task to track her down for the final bill. The restaurant seemed understaffed for the volume of tables seated, so I don't entirely blame our waitress. Food: 5/5 - Very impressive selection of Italian eats from start to finish. Our large table ordered a menagerie of foods, ranging from apps such as calamari fritte, Stanwick's crab toast, Rich's Mozzarella in Carrozza to mains like rigatoni amatriciana, lobster crab ravioli and filet Vivi (surf turf filet and crab). All dishes were prepared perfectly and came out piping hot. Standouts were all of the pasta dishes, including the rigatoni side pastas served with Secondi mains. The chicken Toni and Tina, a breaded cutlet servied with jumbo lump in a parm spinach sauce took best in show for the dinner. Portion size was also generous, with everyone leaving with to go containers. Bar program was also decent, with your standard selection of classic cocktails , wine and beer all at reasonable prices for the area. Overall, Sammy's II is the perfect restaurant to dine at with a large group, as their menu is well balanced, hearty in portions and at a good value.
I took the boys after a hard fought baseball game to get some good sit down grub. We barely had room to eat after the bread and oil course. LOL We chowed down Five Loaves of warm bread and olive oil. They have one of the best dipping olive oil I have ever tasted. The boys split a Crab Toast and then got pasta with Vodka sauce and shrimp. I had the Pasta Lula. Our server Tyler was awesome. She was friendly and super sharp. Great experience, we will be back.
Good, not great experience. If you are in the mood for Italian this is not a bad choice but if you want a great dining experience there are better options in the area. The wait staff was very attentive. The food was excellent, I had the gnocchi with a lemon garlic sauce which was awesome. It did take longer than expected and the restaurant wasn't overly busy which is where my real complaint lies. While the food was good, it was not worth the hour wait from time of ordering. I was also disappointed when I learned that they were out of the tiramisu but the deep fried banana caramel filled in nicely. I recommend this dessert.
Good!! Curious to try other plates definitely will be back and hopefully earn that last start to become a full five star rating
They were really, really busy. They could of used a few more servers. Food was good though.
We really enjoyed our experience here. Pizza and bread, ravioli were good. Not fond of the carbonara. Too much pepper for my taste but not bad. Loved the service. The drinks were disappointing though. There is no prices on the menus for the majority of cocktails and they were pretty weak (I had 2 and they didn’t touch me at all.) for $15 more or less per drink I’d expect them to be a tad stronger and I think it would be good to list pricing on menu so it wasn’t such a surprise when you get your bill.
It's not bad, just not impressive to me since I've tasted better Italian food. The portion is huge like other reviewers mentioned, so make sure you do not fill out your tummy with the free bread although the dipping sauce was so yummy. The establishment gives an impression of an upper scale authentic Italian restaurant, maybe this is why the experience was more underwhelmed. For example, we ordered black tea and Capchino with cream, but the server brought those little creamers you expect at a gasoline station or a dinner, and we were told the restaurant does not have half-and-half, so we asked for milk to substitute. Nothing really wrong here, just felt as an authentic Italian restaurant, the bar for coffee and creamer should be set higher.
Service and atmosphere were great. Food on the other hand left much to be desired. Portion sizes were huge, every pasta we ordered was gigantic. Not always a bad sign but put us on notice. Food overall was lacking in flavor and drowning in cheap olive oil. It wasn't bad bad, but a rough ride when the portions are huge. Every thing seemed pretty home made which made it all the more disappointing. Had the duck ravioli that was drowning in basically Canola oil. The ravioli filling didn't taste like duck and looked like cat food. The actual ravioli skins were alright. Mushrooms were alright.
The atmosphere is a bit loud and it is hard to have conversation. The bread and lasagna were excellent. Had to send spaghetti back; the pasta tasted overcooked and rubbery. I ordered a shirley temple and was given colored water. The servers could have been more attentive to table. Pricing was fair.
Second time I’ve been here in the past two months. The reviews are always great, but I have hated both of my meals (mainly because of their sauce.) Being Italian, my sauce is better, but to the point I left my leftovers (which was most of my meal.) In addition they were so understaffed on a Friday night we rarely saw our server. If you’re wondering why I went back, both times a friend chose the restaurant. My Chicken Parmesan - if there was cheese on it underneath a boatload of sauce, I couldn’t find the cheese.
This is a tough review to write. I have been coming to Sammy's for a few years because the food here is genuinely good — flavorful, well-prepared, and worth coming back for. Unfortunately, the overall experience is brought down by the poor service/management. Despite making reservations, we still always end up waiting 20 to 30 minutes for a table, which really defeats the purpose of reserving in the first place. It’s clear they overbook and try to squeeze in too many people at once. To make matters worse, during one of our last visits, we waited 30 minutes past our reservation time, and when we were finally seated, our table was given plastic cups while other tables had proper glassware. It added to the feeling that, we were being rushed or treated as an afterthought. Bottom line: come for the food if you have the patience, but don’t expect your reservation to mean anything — and be prepared for a frustrating wait.
Been to Sammi’s several times. Always enjoyed the food. Stopped in today for lunch. Stood at the entrance for 10 minutes—no greeting, not even a wave. Finally, when another couple arrived, a woman came over and said that, unless we had a reservation, they were full. No apology—nothing. We and the other couple left very disappointed.
The food is outstanding, I love the duck ravioli, and the other pastas are delicious as well. The tragedy of this place is that they can't seem to get the front of house correct. The service on my most recent visit was probably bad enough to keep us from returning. The server was barely present, it took a while to get an order in, and then the food took a long time to come out. When it did only 4 of the dishes came, and a wrong order came out as well. It took several minutes for dish #5 to come out and dish #6 (which was initially the wrong dish) took until most of us were done with our entrees. They at least took #6 off the bill. On request to speak with a manager we were told that there was no manager on duty, which seemed about right. When our server realized what was going on she blamed the kitchen , and still didn't bother to refill waters. On our way out, not only did I notice several empty tables that had not even cleared, but we could hear our server arguing with someone in the kitchen. The fact is the food was delicious, so the issues are not really in the kitchen except maybe at the expediter position.
Seated quickly as we had a reservation at a nice table. It was a very busy Saturday so it took a while for our server to greet us. After we placed our order of before dinner drinks. appetizers nd main course, also a bottle of wine for dinner we did not see our server Gabby again. Also the water was in Plastic cups. The appetizers were served by someone else and our main courses were brought to us without the appetizers dishes being cleared or our drink glasses. We had to pile our plates while the young man stood there holding our main courses. Our wine was not attended to or anything else. We had to track down someone to find Gabby to pay our bill. When she came and asked us how things were I politely said we could have seen more of her whereupon she said she did not appreciate that and they were very busy and they all work together. Then her mother came and also told us what a great person she is an she did not get our disappointment as they were so busy. It was a very disappointing evening, not what I expect from a good restaurant. We will not be rushing back.
If I closed my eyes, I could have been at the spaghetti warehouse. There is nothing worse than ordering a salad, and my main, asking my waiter to pace my meal...and, one bite of the salad, and boom here came my dinner. Why?? Had the Sally Salad, with more mushrooms than greens, next their spaghetti with watered down red sauce. Not once was I offered parmesan, pepper or for that matter a place setting. Well at least the pellegrino was cold.
Service: Waittress barely spent more than a minute with us. She was talking to us she walked away. Food: I ordered the Parpadelle Alfredo which the sauce tasted watered down. My wife ordered the Veal Regatoni Amatriciana which she did like and we got drinks which were actually really good. Plate presentation: My plate ($27 plate) came with a chip in it which was unexpected for Sammy's (see picture). When asked for parm cheeses the shaker looked like it came from a cheap pizza place (please not Olive garden style on serving parm cheese) and the water glasses were plastic. Overall experience was okay but not $88 in my opinion.
I’m not picky with food but this food was not good. Mediocre pasta and not worth it for the money. My husband got a shrimp pasta and for $27 it was a half full bowl of pasta with 3 tiny shrimp on it. Super disappointed. The waitstaff was wonderful though. So kind and professional!
Terrible Experience! The Sausage Broccoli Rabe Appetizer was the highlight of our dinner. Ordered Lobster Crab Ravioli, Chicken Marsala, Eggplant Parmesan along with the sides. The appetizers came out first and was absolutely delicious. I was looking forward to the ravioli, but was then told that they ran out and weren’t available. I decided to substitute for the Judge K’s Veal. Our entrees showed up and not one of our dishes was passing the “satisfactory” mark. The chicken Marsala had such a bad taste it was sent back for chicken parmigiana. The other 2 dishes were blah, hardly warm and I would not recommend to anyone I know to try. Our check was $100. I left Alasandra a $20 tip for her service. The food today wasn’t worth it.
We went in at 4:00 and at first the host didn’t even seem to acknowledge us and then when I asked for a table he seemed very annoyed and told us they were very busy this evening so they would not seat us anywhere except the bar. Even though ALL tables were empty. I could go online and see tables available at 4:15. He was less than friendly. I have been here a couple times the pizza was good, but some of the pasta dishes were awful. This was my last attempt. I will not return or recommend this place to anyone!
Awful experience! We waited 40 minutes for our food. When we asked the waitress, she was extremely rude. We asked the manager and he blew us off! Do not eat here! When you are a paying customer, you should be treated with respect. The owner, manager, and clearly the wait staff has no respect for its customers. When I left the restaurant, the waitress was making nasty comments about me. How disrespectful and unprofessional!
It took exactly 1 hour from ordering our food, to get our food on a Tuesday night. After 45 minutes we asked for the manager. RENAE the manager was the nastiest, rudest manager I’ve ever spoken to at any establishment. She said” Our food is made to order and you need to wait. It hasn’t been that long. At an hour we went up to her again. She was just as rude and said “we’re crowded””. I said, if someone had just come around and told us there was a delay or offered another loaf of bread it would have been appreciated. Then out of nowhere comes a distrusting waitress named GABRIELLE who comes out of no where and says “what do you want something for free?”’ I then told the manager and she said she had the best staff and no one on her staff would say that. Needless to say NO ONE in our party will ever go back. Just rude, rude, rude people who gave a restaurant with great food a terrible reputation.
Spaghetti was undercooked and cold. Meatballs had no flavor.and sauce was right out of a jar. There were 10 of us and all left half of their meal. Some meals were burned and others were not warm and tasteless.
Very bad experience at Sammy’s Trattoria. We had to wait over 40 minutes for our order without receiving any clear explanación. What made it worse was that several people seated at tables next to us arrived at the same time, ate their meals, paid, and left, and we still had not been served. We decided to ask the waitress about the reason for the delay, and her response was rude and unprofessional, simply saying that “we had to wait.” I do not think that is an acceptable answer when customers are paying for a service—this is not free food. The lack of organization, poor customer service, and absence of an apology make this restaurant hard to recommend. There are many other places that truly value their customers’ time and money.
