American Oak Alameda Reviews
I usually endure the on-site food selection at hotels on business trips but, not this time!!! The vegan curry was so good I had it two nights running! The truffle fries were great as well. The beers on tap are mostly local and good!
If you are staying at the Marriott the best part of your stay will be Iron and Oak. The drinks are made to perfection, and are honestly a work of art! My friend had the blue lemon drop which is instagram ready, but do not miss out on the old fashioned! It’s one of the best you will ever have and if you request it from bartender Derrick it will arrive in a style unique to San Francisco/Oakland. The drinks are second to only the service from the staff who are educated and make fantastic recommendations. Cheers!
Great food and very attentive servers
Excellent steak salad and Long Island Iced Tea

The food is your typical American fare. The chicken sandwich was good. But the service from Mr. Rahman is absolutely extraordinary. I don't think I've ever had service like this, his thoughtfulness and kindness to my family will never be matched. Thank you so much Mr. Rahman for your kindness!!!
The bar upstairs at the Marriot. Excellent bartender. Old fashioned, espresso, Marino, and a mojito cocktail. People’s food looked lovely. Excellent spot.
The service was great even on a busy night. The food is amazing at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I ordered from there multiple times during my brief stay
Had Mother's Day Brunch there today. Wow! It was the best buffet I've had in a long time!! The food was spectacular! Service was top notch and the atmosphere was great!
We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard and walked here twice for breakfast and dinner. The staff is AMAZING. Extremely generous and kind. We had a great meal. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were so appreciative because they're one of the only restaurants around opened after 9. A little on the pricey side, and a small menu, but they just opened back up and a lot of places gotta catch up.

Honestly, this restaurant inside of the Marrott City Center Oakland, California is expensive. Unfortunately, I had very little time and due to rainy weather and the holiday there were few selections.... When you hungry, you eat, lol. The fish taco, my order was made without the hard taco shell. I wanted Indian naan flatbread and it was delicious. The fries were too salty, drinks reasonable. Overall my experience was favorable, especially not having much to choose from.
Had a couple meals here during my recent stay. Food is not bad. Enjoyed the service
This is my second time staying at this hotel and second time having a burger wanted to see if it was just as good as the first time and it is.!! I love the consistency in the food that they put out. Highly recommended when in Oakland.!!

I had the braised brussel sprouts and hot wings. Both were very tasty. The chicken wings were crispy and well seasoned. And, the brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection.
I came here for a incognito meet up due to a request from a client. Located on the second floor, it has a full bar and numerous seating options including lounge booth. Our waiter was courteous and friendly making sure we had everything we needed. When I requested to be seated in a more quieter area he acknowledged and help us over. Televisions are good, but not good when you're trying to close a deal. My client treated me to a meal and his expense. I went with a burger and wings, but held back on any alcoholic drinks. Burger is made medium-well with good char taste. Really enjoyed it as I was pretty much suprise with the quality. Wings were just regular wings more like frozen thaw out and tossed in fryer. I would consider coming back myself getting drinks and watch a game or so while catching up on some work.
Great Service. The drinks were good. Not thrilled with the Steak Frites. The taste was off for some reason or maybe I just wasn't a fan. Would go back and get something else. Other people at my table thought the lamb burger was great.

The menu seemed to be changing seasonally, according to the information on the menu. So this comment is only based on my experience in Dec, 2023. We came to this restaurant because of the tempting photos on Google Map. The service is good; atmosphere is nice and cozy. But the food is disappointing. We ordered pizza, burger and creme brulee tart. I understand that all businesses cheap out in some ways at some stages and unfortunately, our meals included the food items they cheaped out aggressively. If a restaurant switched to cheaper chicken, the customer might not be able to taste huge differences. Our meal was not this case. I think the pizza base (the dough) was probably store bough and it was so dense. If not store bought then it really took some effort to make it so bad. It almost tasted like the pizza dough was not able to rise. And the toppings were just not enough to cover the whole pizza. I believe many local pizzerias could make pizza much more mouth watery and satisfying with lower price, and with properly made base. The burger was fine. The creme brulee tart was supposed to be creme brulee in a tart (I guess?) . But it was just so dense, not soft at all. Was this cream stay compact in a container for too long? If this was not located in Marriott Hotel it wouldn't be that frustrating. Maybe they think the travellers in this hotel are just too tired to care about the food quality. Also the plates we got somehow had a layer of grease (?) on top. I am sure they were clean but the restaurant just seemed to cheap out in dish washing. Actually our dessert plates were so not shiny that one of the staff mistaken them as used plates and tried to take them off the table while the plates were just given to us less than 10 min ago. (We weren't paying attention until the staff made this mistake.) With everything going on in Bay Area, I just feel so sad.

As far as hotel restaurants go, this is definitely on the lower end. I got the steak, and it just wasn't good. There's a strange aftertaste with the food. Frankly, the food in the M lounge was superior. I know it comes out of the same kitchen, but regardless it was better. I got the creme brulee tart, and it was awful. Gas station pastries are better.

Not worth the price. Service was good but the breakfast buffet is scramble eggs, fruit trays, some danishes, juice, coffee, sausage, country potato, yogurt, bread, and French toast. No omelette, a la carte option, hashbrowm or bacon. The food was similar to a free breakfast included kind of meal but instead charge $19. Better to eat at other places in local area. Ate there as it was convenient and good company.

I visited Oakland over the weekend and decided to go to Iron &Oak for a late night meal. I ordered the Chicken Cesar Salad @ the cost of $18 bucks and gave a 20% tip only to discover, after getting back to my hotel, the chicken was dry as a bone! I couldn't believe a chef would let a piece of meat come out of their kitchen in that condition, criminal! Save your money and your time.
Served cold, ROCK hard fries and the turkey blt sandwich was tasteless and just unpleasant. I could not eat it. Cost $17. I also had a bad customer service experience when I called about the fries. They said they were too busy to come give me fresh fries but could take $2-4 off my bill. $2 off of $17 is not reasonable, neither is saying you’re too busy to deliver food when you offer food delivery as room service. I picked up my order and they weren’t that busy. Don’t take a chance on them like I did. I’m going hungry instead of eating the food they served as it is inedible.
