Andytown Coffee Roasters Alameda Reviews
This coffee shop locates in a residential area. There are plenty of parking spots around. We arrived around 10am and there was a relatively long line. The line moved pretty fast so definitely worth the wait! I ordered a hot latte and a soda bread topped with avocado smash and pickled cucumber. The soda bread has a very good texture and it was not too dry or crumbly. The twist of topping avocado toast with pickled cucumber and shiso furikake was absolutely amazing. Overall, it was a very cute coffee shop. Reasonably priced and have a variety of options!
The best neighborhood coffee shop I could ask for! Truly has the best coffee in the city. The baristas are fast and nice, and though the lines are often long they get your order out in a timely manner. If you’re short on time, I recommend an online order before you start to head over (takes about 10-15 min to complete). Best order: put a hat on it!
Andytown is our go-to for coffee + delicious pastries! Everything tastes amazing + the coffee does its job, but even more than that- there is a solid community feel to the place. The owners are parents at our child's school and we witness first hand how community and service oriented they are. The staff is happy and helpful- clearly they treat their staff well and everyone has a great vibe. Also, we just ordered their coffee box for a brunch for the first time, and found that they have the best price (and best quality) and include ALL the extras (cups, 2 kinds of milk, sugar, etc). Highly recommend!
Bay Area gem! Andytown takes their coffee seriously- with the ingredients they choose to the machinery they use. The gluten free pumpkin cheese cream roll they source is next level also! In addition to their quality goods, they are also exactly the kind of business deserving of consumer support, being both local and a family-run business.
Tried their matcha latte with a good friend of mine. We both LOOOVE matcha and so she shared this spot with me on a walk with our dogs. We both had the same opinion on it, we felt the matcha is not very strong. It almost tastes like we were just drinking milk with a hint of matcha. I asked for no sweetness in mine which I thought was just fine. I wonder if the matcha level can be adjusted 🤔
This coffee shop is very popular! It smells delicious in there. They make an amazing breakfast sandwich , and they also have a meatless sandwich called a Toastie. They just have waiting benches inside, no tables. There's plenty of outdoor seating. On cold days, make sure you dress warm because they leave the doors open. So, while you're in a long line waiting, you are freezing!
Hands down the best coffee we’ve had in California. Their brown sugar syrup was excellent. We met the owner, Michael, who couldn’t have been more hospitable. Great hearing from him and his story. Must stop if in the area!
Andytown is hands-down one of my favorite coffee spots in the city. The vibe is super chill and friendly—no pretentious coffee snobs here, just people who really know what they’re doing and care about making great drinks. The Snowy Plover is wonderful —espresso, fizzy water, and whipped cream sounds weird until you try it, and then you’re hooked. Their pastries are also awesome—flaky, buttery, and clearly baked fresh. A great spot, whether I’m grabbing something quick or hanging out for a bit. The whole place just feels warm and local in the best way. Definitely worth a visit (or many)!
I caught off guard by how good the coffee and sandwich were. I saw that they offer expresso shot with whipped cream. Who would have thought how much more you can make out of whipped cream? It is crazy! The whipped cream is fluffy yet still in shape in the warm expresso. The subtle sweet flavor complements the bitterness and slight sourness of the coffee so well. It is arguably one of the whipped cream I ever tasted. And the grilled cheese. Again. How much more you can make out of cheese and bread? And cheddar cheese? Yes it is heavenly fluffy. I don't know how but the texture is mouth filling in a voluminous way so you can enjoy it without feeling heavy. The bread is grilled to perfection, lightly crispy and soft inside. I definitely gonna go back for more! On a hot day, I would love to try their signature iced drink!
Love the Avocado Mash on Soda Farl, and the Peppermint Tea, which is hot water and peppermint leaves. They also make a very nice breakfast sandwich, with a runny egg between two slices of toast. I don’t drink coffee anymore, so I can’t remark on that sadly, but everyone else with me had coffee and seemed to like it. You can get whipped cream on the coffee as well.
☕️ Came her to try another different coffee shop. Walked in to order, was greeted by a very friendly woman. As we browsed the menu and asked questions and she was patient and had great customer service skills. I didn’t feel rushed. The chocolate chip pumpkin scone is great and has chunks of pumpkin in it! I had a sweetened oatmilk latte and we tried the original Bird (“ described as an espresso cream soda, the Snowy Plover consists of sparkling water over ice, espresso, brown sugar syrup, and our housemade whipped cream”). Great coffee, customer service, location, would recommend!!
Still one of the best coffee spots in the world The only thing is they nixed indoor table seating and customer WiFi. There are other ways to ward off campers Expansion is nice and they have 5 park let spaces that weren’t there a few years ago Getting a Snowyplover and walking to the beach is still one of the best things you can do with a morning in SF
The line was long but the girl taking the orders was really nice and the baristas where fast. I ordered one original bird and one mocha. Mine was better than I expected! The flavor was really good and I would come back for more. The prices are high just like everything in SF. There is no place to sit so everything is just to go. The place is cute and there is space outside for tables I don't know why they don't use it.
I don't disagree that Andytown's coffee is good and decor is nice, generating a hip vibe that stands out in Sunset. But being one of the few decent coffee shops in the area also gives them a pass for long line, overpriced food and mediocre service. I got a breakfast sandwich the other day and was pretty underwhelmed by its lack of attention to detail for the $12 I paid. On top of that, service feels rather transactional in particular due to the current restriction. I have to wait in gusty wind for a pricey coffee and then tip the cashier well so they don't roll their eyes even though all they do is a few taps on a tablet?
