A reopening to add to the top of your list. The menu was a unique format, with a large portion entirely customizable and non alcoholic friendly. I had two different NA cocktails and loved the complexity and flavors of both. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. The space is welcoming and warm. Absolutely will be back.

Hard to express how special this bar is. Let the bartenders guide you and you're gonna have an amazing time! I had their Italian flight and tried so many new drinks I've never had before.

Bar 821, where Amaro Meets Artistry in Craft Cocktails Nestled in the heart of Divisadero San Francisco District, Bar 821 beckons cocktail enthusiasts with its intimate ambiance and a bespoke menu that celebrates the intricate flavors of amaro. From the moment you step through the door, the warm lighting and the inviting hum of conversation set the stage for an evening of culinary cocktail exploration. Bar 821's allure lies its custom menu, a meticulously curated selection of libations that showcases the versatility of amaro in all its glory. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a curious newcomer, each cocktail promises a journey of discovery through the complex and nuanced world of Italian herbal liqueurs. You're welcome!

Fun small speakeasy style cocktail bar that brings a good atmosphere, fantastic amaro-centric cocktails and super nice bartenders. The "dealers choice" never disappointed. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area

Excellent bar with wide selection of amari, good ambiance. Whether you want an introduction to amari, to try a new amaro, or get a custom cocktail, the bartenders will hook you up with no judgement and passionate dedication to figuring out your palette. Also they’ll chase you down the street to give your your forgotten bag after you’ve had one too many. Would make a great date night. Great spot.

What a great date or friends spot… The menu is oriented around amaro liquor (think Compari / Aperal, so nigroni / spritz vibes). They have a build your own drink menu which is fun and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

Love love love. Cozy, inviting, interesting cocktails, amazing selection of Amaro (the flight is good for at least 4 people to try some different Amaros IMO), and the build your own cocktail turned out some of the best bespoke cocktails and we just loved it.

Excited to try this place after 4 years of closure. Ring a doorbell and the hostess will let you in. No reservation and it’s first come first serve. Cute cozy spot for a drink. I liked the idea where you can pick the style of drink you favor, pick a base spirit and flavor profile for $20.

Such a cute spot. Super creative craft cocktails and excellent service. They even have a “build your own cocktail” option with unique options to choose from. Since its reopening, this has become a regular spot for our friend group.

Hidden gem on Divisadero! Love the speakeasy vibe where you have to ring the doorbell to be seated. Great cocktails and amazing service from all the staffs! Perfect place to impress your date or family from out of town. Probably not ideal for a big group (more than 6). They do not have food fyi but amazing restaurants around.

Bar Amaro/Revamped 821 has excellent craft cocktails, cozy chill vibe, and amazingly talented and attentive bartenders. Had an amazing time at the re-opening of Bar 821. For me, it was drinks only so no food review. But imo, Bar 821 is the best new bar in San Francisco right now. Carefully curated craft cocktails made by master mixologists with unique flavors. I started with the discovery menu and tasted some amaro/bitter cocktails for the first time. But I also tried their special take on classic cocktails. All were great. Atmosphere is great. Small, discrete bar with a chill & cozy vibe that feels more like a neighborhood spot. Perfect for a pre or post dinner cocktails, casual night with friends, or a date. Service is 10/10. The bartenders are super friendly, attentive, and really know their stuff. With the discovery menu try to understand what you like and they come up with something that matches with some inventiveness. There's only 2 bartenders so be patient since craft/personalized cocktails take time. Overall, highly recommend!

Hottest bar to hit San Francisco in years! Ring a door bell, be escorted in if they have a spot and be lost in the world of Amaro but also out of this world cocktails made by top notch professionals! Their menu is pick your journey (sort of dealers choice) where you pick style, flavor profile and base spirit and these guys will wow you! They were busy when I went so I suspect make it in at 6 or right after to get a seat!

Pretty date night ambiance but will never come back to this place. Nice little niche experience where you have to ring the doorbell to have someone open the door to let you in. You get a small sample liquor with your drink order. One bannana negroni was overpriced at $29. The tip is already included but bill didn't have a breakdown on how much it was. Only 6 other couples were in there. Reason I won't return is because of the server.. not the overpriced pretentious drink. There was a rude brunette server. I had a sleeping puppy (mini schnauzer) with me in a purse. I mistakenly thought since they do not serve food you can bring an emotional support animal. I also checked their door and policy online before I came and did not see a no pets sign. A few moments after ordering a drink, the brunette server saw my black dog move and freaked out about no dogs being allowed and said we will have to leave immediately. She never even stopped to ask if it was a service dog and she cut me off when I was trying to say sorry. Then she walked away huffing and puffing to literally stop the blonde bartender from making our drinks so she could kick us out. I guess the bartender said we could stay because then server comes back to tell us we can have ONE drink but must leave ASAP once we finish. The communication style and abrasive approach left much to be desired. When the check came she refused to make eye contact with me and only spoke to my friend. I honestly couldn't get out of there faster. My brother passed away a couple months ago and I got a puppy to help with the depression. This is my first time leaving my house to do something fun/catch up with a friend. Sad that it had to be like this. As a conscientious person I'm still learning the ins and outs of having a dog in the city (first time ever having a pet). I tried to do due diligence. The poor treatment and dramatics was completely unnecessary. Will definitely not be back.

Waited 30 minutes to enter while the gentleman at the door let two parties go in front of us who showed up after we put our name on the waitlist. After he opened the door and let the second group pass us in the line we gave up and decided to leave. Won’t be back!

Amaros were great. Sat at the bar. In fact, we were the only three people in the entire bar. Conversation with staff was fun, interesting, and educational. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced, but you sort of know that going in. The one star is because they handed the bill to us and buried a built in 20% tip without telling us it was already included. Then sat and continued to talk with us while we added a 20% tip on top of the full amount. (So also tipping on the tip, almost leaving a 75% tip in total. And who automatically add a tip to a group of three people, sitting at the bar? The amari were great, but that's not what left the bitter taste in my mouth when I got home and looked more closely at the bill. Won't be back...

I wish I had more of an experience to do a rating because my date was raving about this place. We get there and there’s a wait, no problem. The worker was nice about it. He let us know we wouldn’t need to go on a waitlist because there was a spot that opened up and he’d seat us, a part of two. Three rude guys came up and just waited in the entryway about to go onto the wait list, and then just stood there. The worker comes out and seats them ahead of us and then tells us to give us a number and we’ll get a text back in 15 minutes, time was about 9:56. We get a text at 10 and we didn’t check our phones until 10:16 thinking we had time. And yeah the onus is on us but the energy of the worker in combination with the rude guys ahead of us and seating them ahead of us just left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially because my date and I were people of color and queer, in this day and age one can’t help but think it was just a micro aggression. Hopefully I can return and it’ll be better since my date liked it but it just was a really bad first impression
