Such a magical spot! We really loved this place. The food was delicious, I couldn’t stop smiling after every bite. The lady was super nice. I highly recommend.

Our family’s go-to spot for bento since I was in middle school. I’m 27 now and feel super nostalgic ordering the katsu curry and cucumber noodles. Love you Kobe-Ya 🤍
I love this place! Pretty cheap for delicious options, and the people here are quick to get your order out
I’ve been coming here for YEARS. today was perfect. It wasn’t packed for a Friday night. I called ahead and my food was ready shortly after I arrived. Tastes great and generous portions. We will have leftovers. The parking is the only downside but if you live close just walk on over. I’ll continue to come here. Sometimes it’s really packed and it’s a small space so it gets crammed up quickly. However, tonight was just perfect.
REALLY kind people. Serving delicious food, with some very affordable options. They kept much meat on my ribs as a youngster.
Love this small shop been going here for years. When I'm in the mood for some good teriyaki chicken and fried rice this is my go too. Oh and I can I for get about the chicken egg rolls so good.
Love this spot! Quick, delicious and inexpensive bento boxes and sushi! You've got to try the California deep fried with the combination of the dipping sauce- amazing! And they're all ALWAYS friendly :-)
I've been coming to kobe ya since 2005. I kid you not, high schoolers from across town used to organize "kobe ya" runs where everyone would place orders with someone who had a car. He'd call in an order for 15 chicken katsu bentos, 22 teriyaki bentos, and a variety of canned sodas. There was a bulk deal where each bento was $5 and each soda was $2. Lunch hour would come and the organizer would speed across town, get the goods, and hightail it back so students at ACLC and Encinal could eat this delicious food. What kind of restaurant could get high schoolers to organize something like that, besides one that's good, fast, and affordable? Kobe Ya is an Alameda stalwart. Long may it rein.
Reliably delicious! Always fresh and tasty. The orders are ready quickly for pickup or dine in
The food here is great, my whole family enjoy eating here which is not usual. Everyone is happy when we have Kobe-ya. The katsu curry is great and so are the rice and noodle options. The sushi is also very nice and all the servings are quite large. We eat here regularly and will continue to do so.

Good home style Japanese food at a very affordable price. The people there are nice and the restaurant is clean. What more can you ask for?

This is a nice little "hole in the wall" place with good basic standards of Japanese/Asian/Viet fusion food. This is my main go-to for reasonable priced favorites. The only draw back is not much available street parking (so only 4 stars). Best to go there at off hours.

Average sushi place with low prices. It tasted a lot like the sushi you get at the supermarket. Acceptable, but not great. Only had rolls; maybe the teriyaki and Katsu are better. Will update if so.
The Katsu Curry sauce isn't Japanese, it's Vietnamese. So it was good, but deceptive. I personally won't be coming back.
The prices keep creeping up here, so it is not quite the bargain it used to be. The sushi is just ok but it is a decent quick hit if you are in a hurry. The Vietnamese sandwiches are tasty and the best deal in the place.

Precooked chicken that was dry, California rolls didn't have much taste. Not sure what the noodle side dish was, but it was ok. All in all not a very positive experience here. All for $16 dollars, expensive.

I had a chicken teriyaki bento box at Kobe-Ya today. The dressing on the salad was too salty and vinegary. The chicken meat tasted bland and dry. The thick teriyaki sauce that coated the pre-cooked chicken was way too salty! The rice was good. The cold noodles tasted refreshing. The bill was around $14.95. I added a tip, but I didn’t feel there was value in the money I spent for my lunch today.

The food is terrible. Avoid! I’ve had a better meal at Panda Express. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. The sauce tasted like it was out of can - thick, gloopy, and way too sugary. If I wasn’t so hungry I would have walked out after the first bite but I forced myself to finish. And there was some kind of rice noodle salad that was made with mayonnaise. One bite and I pushed it away. Terrible. Ambiance of a bus station.
Lady at the counter tried to overcharge me for my food then argued with me while looking at the menu on her wall. My salmon bento was over cooked and smelled weird. Ended up throwing away the whole meal rather than risk the stomach ache. She also put ginger with my sushi when I asked not to since the person eating it was allergic. I’ve only eaten there once before this but never again. This place isn’t worth the awful food quality and service for these prices. Take your money somewhere else.
