Black Sheep Coffee House Albans Reviews
The staff is really friendly here and super quick service. Everything’s so clean and they make sure to check on tidings the tables regularly. Will definitely come back.
A nice air conditioned pit stop. Biker friendly with space for maybe four bikes out front without blocking the public path (on a Sunday at least, more space when the market isn't on) and still keeping them in sight of course. The coffee was quick, hot and you can order through the table QR code, screen at the end of the counter or thankfully, from a real person with a smile 😁 with a choice of bagels, waffles and pastries that they can bring to life with a description and recommendation. It's that modern almost Nordic feel. Not the new fake distressed features, but the kind you could probably kit yourself out with from IKEA if you were any good at design. Dark warm tones (like the coffee with the Volcano bean!) with a clean spacious feel. Probably not the cheapest but not the most expensive for St Alban's either Maybe a day in the sunshine at 22° matched to the aircon in the Black Sheep helped create a nice vibe, along with plenty of plug sockets to remove the phone anxiety (however irrational) but was a lovely visit. Thanks!
This is the first time that I have frequented Black Sheep Coffee, I've had lot's of positive feedback regarding the coffee and the ambience, and I must say, it's absolutely my favourite coffee house in St Albans! I had the "honey cardamom oat milk latte" and all I can say is WOW, divine, what a coffee, very smooth flavour, absolutely gorgeous. I'm a big fan of cardamom and oat milk, and with the honey, it was top tier! To eat, I went for a simple vegetarian sausage stone baked roll, simple but delicious. The main thing about this place, for me, is the energy, very chilled environment, clean, music is not to loud, and above all very friendly staff, I'm really impressed. If your passing through St Albans, or if you are a local looking for some unique, delicious and tasty coffee, then definitely give Black Sheep Coffee a try, I'm confident you will be delighted. Keep up the good work Black Sheep Coffee, I will be coming back 😊
I went with my friends, and we loved both the drinks and the breakfast menu, but the waffles were definitely the highlight! Also, the server Josie was very kind and made the day beautiful. Had a great time and would definitely recommend this place!
One of my favourite haunts for a coffee and a bite to eat. It's more spacious than the slightly cramped interiors of other coffee bars.
Black sheep coffee, a chain exceeding expectations and forcing other chains to do it better! They have an easy quick ordering service for those in a rush and also a line for those wanting a little chat. The baristas were wonderfully friendly and dog welcoming! They kindly offered a pup cup and lots of pets, my doggo loved it. It offers great coffee, I ordered a cortado, unfortunately I didn’t get a picture but not much to look at due to the love the baristas all gave my dog! Coffee was tasty, smooth, not burnt and quick. Everything people want. Can’t wait to sit in and enjoy the atmosphere and great seating. Would highly recommend!
I've been coming to black sheep cafe to study for my alevels for 3 weeks straight and I've been so productive thanks to the wonderful atmosphere. The staff are all so friendly and great to talk to as well when I need a break from revision. They're also very accommodating to my diet requirements, and the food is great! They also have vegan alternatives for people like me *I'm lactose intolerant 🫡😔🥲*. All in all a great place to study, meet other students and vibe 🤭✨️
Great coffee with plenty of choice. A little pricey for small orders.
Blueberry match here is freaking awesome. Must try . Staff are polite.
I decided to try the coffee and a Biscoff waffle on the recommendation of Infant Fernandes, the assistant manager, and it did not disappoint. The coffee was really good and really loved the biscoff waffle with crumbs.☕️
Best matcha in town. Bojana is so amazing always attentive to details. I’ve been a loyal Costa customer, but Black Sheep’s matcha and amazing staff win me over!

Quiet and peaceful. It will be my regular spot.

This is the best coffee shop ever!! The lady at the counter is lovely, always pleasant, cheerful and kind. Would definitely recommend to any other coffee lovers.
One of the best cafes. Excellent coffee and food. The atmosphere and aesthetic is really cozy and warm. The staff are really nice and friendly.
Really enjoyed my visit to Black Sheep Coffee, St Albans. The café has a nice vibe, and the team member (Bojana) who served me was polite, friendly, and made me feel welcome. I have chocolate mocha and it was really good Small things like that matter. Definitely a good spot.
Bojana is back, and so is the best matcha! 🍵You can truly feel the care and passion in every cup. Perfect balance, amazing quality, and such a friendly atmosphere. So happy to have her back highly recommend to all matcha lovers!

One of my favourite coffee spots here in St Albans. The coffee is excellent, especially the Blue Volcano beans. The staff are always kind, quick, and just really nice people. In the morning hours, it's quiet and calm, perfect for reading or getting some work done. As for the food, I recommend the waffle with chocolate and strawberries. All in all, a great spot to have a coffee!
First visit here. Nice coffee, easy ordering system, friendly service. Plenty of electric and sockets should you need them. Toilets were ok too! Only small issue we had was our discount QR code was not being accepted at the tablet, however we typed the code in manually and it worked. Also the music in store is a touch muffled. Overall a pleasant first encounter with Black Sheep Coffee. Well done.

We come to black sheep coffee regularly and love the atmosphere. Great selection of drinks, would recommend coming early to get a seat though as it gets busy!
Coffee is really good and I was super excited that St Albans is getting a Black Sheep. The staff however are not very good. Every time I’ve been in there there’s so many empty cups on all the tables, the floor is dirty and the staff don’t seem to be able to just make a whole order before calling you over to collect it. For example I ordered a puppicino, two lattes and two brownies. I got called over three times, once to collect the puppicino, once for the latte and once for the brownies, but only after I reminded them that I ordered brownies. They also didn’t tell me which coffee was semi-skimmed and which was whole. Additionally the staff don’t seem to handle rushes well. They were constantly getting called back to make drinks, which seems strange since it’s a coffee shop. So it’s good but there is a lot of room for improvement here, it’s not like there isn’t any competition nearby.

Charging £4.09 for a coffee while loudly announcing “cha ching!” From the til every time there’s an order, feels like a perfect representation of this late stage capitalist dystopia we live in. All the while the coffee and food is average, you serve yourself and there’s three WFH warriors with their apple headphones and protein shakers pretending to do work. Weird experience.

Everything was wonderful until I stepped into a very dirty toilet, the walls are stained with urine, under the sink near the floor was so much dirt accumulated, the smell, the toilets you could see there were days since last cleaned. The toilets are ruining everything in this lovely place.

i enjoy the atmosphere here a lot, and the drinks are very good too, although they put way too much ice like they are running out of actual liquid. I get like 70 percent ice that fills up the whole cup and 30 percent actual liquid. 2 sips and my whole drink is gone which costs nearly 5 pounds.
An expanding chain but no idea why, frankly it's rubbish. Is it a fast food store? Have to order by app or screens, staff do not engage at all - no eye contact smile or anything, robots would be better. No skills exhibited in making drinks seems to be push button machine coffee. Comfortable seating taken by people working on laptops with one person on a circular table with 5 chairs but made sure no-one joined the table AVOID better coffee in every town at reasonable rather than extortionate prices.
