Carmenta's Italian Specialties Albans Reviews
This is the type of place worth gate keeping but I love it too much to do such a thing. This is one of the rare places where everything on the menu is delicious and well thought out. Everything is so fresh and they have their own signature unique flavor. Truly, ditch the candlelit Italian dinner places and come get this divine food. The pasta has a perfect al dente bite and all the options are varied and great in their own ways. My personal favorites for pasta are the spicy pork rigatoni vodka sauce and the butternut squash with sausage. For sandwiches they have my favorite turkey sandwich in the city. The salsa verde and vinegar gives it such a full flavor that complex enough to not feel samey after a few bites. My second favorite is the Dom G which is my ideal eggplant sandwich (It has ricotta and mint) and it stands its ground as a great sandwich even up against meat options. For dessert, the banana bread is something DIFFERENT. It’s almost hard to call it banana bread because it’s so dense and rich and full bodied with its chocolatey flavor. Make sure to savor each bite since it gets better as you chew it. Truly don’t skip it. Also honorable mention is the white bean, kale and andouille sausage soup. It is sooooo comforting when coming in from the cold and it had and appropriate amount of big ol veggies in it that were all soft from this nice fatty yet clear broth
Chicken parm was delicious. Bread was crispy chicken and sauce was flavorful. Rice balls one of the best I've had. Definately coming back to try other sandwiches.
This place is amazing, the sandwiches and pastas are delicious, the staff are very friendly, answering any questions from the menu helping you to get the best meal.
Incredible food and staff! Best meatballs I’ve ever had and pasta is also out of this world. Would highly recommend…the meatball parm sandwich is a must try!!
Incredible homemade pasta and sandwiches! Dom, the owner, truly puts his heart into his food, and his entire staff is warm and welcoming. Wishing I lived closer so that we could eat this incredible food all the time!
Absolutely delicious food and great service! Their sauces…oh my!!! I love how they make such great pasta, not to mention it’s made in house. Love love love it here!
This place is incredible, Chef Dom knows what he is doing! A must stop anytime we are in town. We recommended this place to a friend visiting from California and her local friend already had it on their agenda. Carmenta’s is well loved by those near and far!
Food was a surprising gift . So full of flavor and everything tasted grea. So good I ordered 3; separate meals to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Tasted like old school Italian food that Bushwick has been missing for years now. I and I have lived here for 50 yrs
Carmenta’s: A cozy spot known for its warm ambiance and hearty comfort food. The menu features a blend of traditional and contemporary dishes, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Service is friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming experience. Popular for its flavorful entrees and well-crafted cocktails. Ideal for casual dining or small gatherings. A solid choice if you want good food in a relaxed, inviting setting.
Randomly checked this placed out on a spontaneous walk and now it’s my personal favorite. The aroma of garlic and herbs takes you in as soon as you open the door. The pasta is fresh and the sauce savory and rich. This place lit me up enough to write a review, because something this good should be well known. Authentic and amazing quality. You will definitely see me again!
THE BEST Italian sandwich I’ve eaten in New York. Get the Dom G sandwich on garlic bread, you’ll thank yourself you did. Oh and don’t forget the golden beet salad, man it is refreshing and so damn delicious. We also got the Radiatore, very healthy and delectable. I am shocked not enough people know about this place. I wish I knew it earlier. Super cute spot and great service.
I love chicken parm. My favorite desert? More chicken parm. Wanted to find the best in northern Brooklyn for my birthday. Holy crap this place was incredible. I’m coming back again and again. The $3 garlic bread upgrade was totally worth it. Bravo. Get a seat if you can, but to-go is just as good.
I can still taste the pasta, so good! I definitely want to go back and try more from the menu. It’s a great spot for a nice bite, though not necessarily a quick one. The pricing is straightforward, either you want it or you don’t, but no complaints. The food is well prepared and served in a reasonable time.
Summary: Warming with Great Food Carmenta’s is a great place for food but specifically their sandwiches. This small but inviting cafe has a warm, welcoming vibe the moment you step in. The intimate setup, with the kitchen right in front of you, makes for a unique and personal experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the vibe of the place. We tried two sandwiches, the meatball sub and the Dom G. While both were excellent, the Dom G was the standout. As a meat lover, I was shocked at how flavorful and satisfying this vegetarian sandwich was. Every bite was packed with rich, balanced flavors that left me perfectly content. Overall, Carmenta’s is an outstanding experience with great food and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend.
It’s the best pasta I’ve ordered. I had to tell the staff that it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Rigatoni with some kind of sauce that I forgot the name and an order of Rice balls… it was perfect, the cooking time in the pasta was spot on, the salsa was just perfect… the staff is very attentive and friendly. Will be back for sure. I recommend this place 100%
I think life just makes more sense with a sandwich, and thankfully there are places like this to make that dream come true. A very solid place in a cool area, I got a spicy eggplant parm and can't wait to come back and try it on their garlic bread (which I would recommend because if life presents you with an option like that you shouldn't let your fear of talking to people get in the way of making that happen). The people working there were all very nice, helpful and speedy, my sandwich was ready in no time at all. My amateur photography skills don't quite capture its glory but it was delicious and I highly recommend checking this place out
The sandwich is the best Italian I've ever tasted. Everything is very flavorful and fresh, and there's a generous portion. It's more expensive than delis, but it's real quality food.
I have been a loyal customer for years constantly ordering from here , as well As my partner who’s been eating here since they opened . One time my friend got food poisoning here and I didn’t believe it because of how much I love this place. But now I am the victim lol I got food poisoning almost immediately after eating their takeout food was also extremly greasy. I’ve been sick now for 4 days. Definitely will be loosing me and my families Buisness.
