Albany, get ready for a coffee revelation! JA Pequeno, located at 466 Madison Street, isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s an experience. A sister spot to the original Jacob Alejandro in Troy, JA Pequeno opened in Albany in late 2023, quickly becoming a local favorite for its unique approach to coffee. Forget typical coffee; my Olivia Maple Special, with olive oil, maple, and candied lemon, was a flavor explosion! Each sip was a new delight. The Blackberry Mango Scone was equally phenomenal, bursting with fruit. The service was exceptional—fast, friendly, and full of great energy. And the atmosphere? Pure cozy bliss, perfect for working or relaxing. There’s even a lovely outdoor area. Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Totaling 5 stars! Discover this hidden gem, where every bite tells the story!

Everyone that I spoke with here was very friendly, and upon finding out that I was visiting from out of town, they welcomed me to the area, which was nice. I loved the Brazilian Cheese Bread 🍞 and the Vanilla Citrus coffee was tasty and uplifting. The patio out back was a pleasant surprise and a lovely addition. I am already looking forward to coming back here on my next visit to Albany!

A great addition to the coffee scene in the capital region. The original Jacob Alejandro in Troy hit gold again in the former spot where 3 Fish cafe was. Alejandro went from a barista at 3 fish to being one of the best coffee makers in NYS. 10/10 recommend.

I first learned about Jacob Alejandro from their stand at the Troy Farmers Market. We enjoyed our cold brews in the backyard space. We really enjoyed it here and have recommended it to our friends.

Beautiful atmosphere. There is a paio area but it fills up quickly on a weekend. I got the vanilla citrus iced latte and it was delicious. I like my coffee light and sweet and I didn't need to add anything to this it was the perfect amount of sweetness without being to much. I unfortunately did not try any food items but they looked delicious. Also right across from Washington Park which made for a great walk. I was able to enjoy the atmosphere then grab a to-go cup to walk the park.

Very modern/fancy looking coffee shop with outstanding espresso! I had the seasonal sweet corn latte and it was amazing! Plenty indoor and outdoor seating available to hang out as well. Service was friendly and helpful. There is also some baked good if you were looking for a quick bite (the chocolate chip cookie looked really good). Prices are on the higher side but I forgot about the price as soon as that first sip was taken.

The coffee and chocolate cookies were so good we had to run it back twice in the same weekend. The chocolate chip cookies were FANTASTIC, TERRIFIC, SPECTACULAR! The ambience was so beautiful, loved the green and bronze accents. Lots of seating in different areas throughout that gave different vibes, including outdoor seating. & the service was great. Staff were inviting, friendly, and patient. All signs of great customer service!

Just as good as the original in Troy! Now you can visit either of their two locations and get great quality coffee. I highly recommend their iced toffee coffee or chocolate milk cold brew. Jacob Alejandro has an amazing atmosphere as well. If you haven't given them a try, I don't know what you are waiting for!

It’s an absolute gem! Aesthetic, tasty, greatest place to drink coffee with highest quality tasty pastry, and to enjoy the atmosphere. Beautiful surprise

Coffee was solid and the service and environment is great, but somehow I paid $26 before tip for a drip coffee, a scone, and a chocolate bar. Didn't see the breakdown, but probably won't come back just based on the price, that's kind of savage especially for a place that isn't roasting fresh beans in house. Edit: Good points were made. I definitely got too high and demolished a huge piece of craft chocolate without fully appreciating it. Great shop, nice clean quiet environment with very good coffee. Would recommend.

It was so good we went here three times while staying at a hotel nearby. I will be daydreaming about the strawberry milk cold brew for a while. Also enjoyed the toffee cold brew and pumpkin dolce latte. Staff was polite and approachable which isn’t always the case at trendy coffee shops. The ambiance is upscale and design forward which really made it an appealing place to be. Their patio looked lovely but unfortunately was closed due to weather.

You can tell the baristas are experts; the espresso extraction is consistently smooth, never bitter. It’s a bit pricier than your average cup, but for single-origin beans and this level of artistry, it’s worth every penny.

Coffee, service, atmosphere… all 10/10. Incredible feel, vibe and the coffee is outstanding. You can tell this owner truly cares for the quality of the menu and the overall experience. Toffee Coffee is highly recommended!

Wow, just wow! Stayed nearby for the weekend and loved it so much we came here twice. Best cappuccino I have ever had, toffee coffee was delicious, and their cheddar scone & almond snickerdoodle was to die for. Great vibes in this place! Highly recommend!

Great location by the park! It is a bit upscale and luxurious for the neighborhood. The backyard is cute for a quick bite. Customer service was patient with me because I was a bit extra. Delish chocolate chip cookie.

As fellow cafe owners, Amazing little hidden gem with ACTUAL third wave coffee. Lots of knowledge and passion behind this spot. Decor was great, owner was awesome, staff friendly, flat white was perfect. Milk temp and extraction was bang on. Tried their specialty white choco citrus latte, too sweet for me but had round 2 and three of flat whites. Would recommend..

Strawberry Milk Cold Brew is the perfect coffee to sip while walking around Lark st or Washington Park. Green and gold decor creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to spend time there catching up with a friend or working on your laptop.

Welp, I finally had the chance to stop by JA Pequeno this winter. It’s a cozy, modern café with a well-thought-out color palette that creates a welcoming atmosphere. I tried the house coffee, but unfortunately, it wasn’t to my taste—it was quite strong, and even cream couldn’t mellow it out. I’m not a mixed-drink coffee person, so I don’t think I’ll visit again. I ordered a savory meat pie, which ended up taking 30 minutes to arrive instead of the 20 minutes I was initially told. I remained patient, but I didn’t receive any updates from the staff during the wait. When it finally arrived, the pie was good but noticeably dry. I asked if they had jam to help balance it out, but I was told they don’t offer any. During my wait, I observed the space—several people were having meetings or working on laptops. Seating is more limited in the winter, but it wasn’t crowded during my visit, and most patrons seemed to be regulars or staff from nearby businesses. The atmosphere was mostly quiet, with soft background music playing. At times, conversations rose above the music, making it a bit loud, but nothing overly unpleasant. Interestingly, despite living nearby for over a year and a half, I never realized this café existed. I first attempted to visit after searching Google for a coffee shop, but I wasn’t sure if they accepted Apple Pay, Google Pay, or CashApp, so I opted for the café next door, which I’ve visited and enjoyed before. The new neon coffee sign in the window—though stylistically out of place with the café’s aesthetic—was definitely a smart and much-needed addition for visibility. Overall, JA Pequeno has a pleasant vibe and seems well-loved by its regulars, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

I had been referred here by a friend . 0 stars. Employees were rude and judgmental. I asked for a Columbia Victoria coffee. Did not know it didn’t come iced as I never been . He told me the wait was 3 min. After 8 min I was still waiting and another employee made him aware I was waiting. I then asked if my coffee was iced.he said no I didn’t say iced and I said that’s fine then. He made me a cold brew which I can not drink being pregnant so basically waited for nothing. When I asked what it was he rudely said cold brew then asked me “well what do you want” offended I left with a cold brew I can’t drink

Walked in with my two siblings to check and see if they had bagels since Google suggested. First thing I did was wait patiently for a second to ask the barista if they had bagels she gave a horrible facial expression like how dare we walk in for anything. Then after I get my response quickly about if they had bagels a man walks from behind the middle of the bar to tell me they only have what’s sold. Thanks for stretching your ego to tell me 10 seconds after I’ve been told you don’t have bagels only what’s in the case. I’m from Albany where this used to be a bike shop and Dino’s pizza was around the corner sorry not familiar with the RUDE DEVELOPMENT.
