I came in about 25 minutes to closing and they treated me like I was the first customer of the day! I haven’t been to this spot in many years and saw the revamped menu on social media. So I decided to go back. I am glad I did. The new Hiroshima-yaki was just what I needed. Large portion, filled with pork belly, noodles, delicious veggies and wrapped up in a nice fluffy pancake. Which is then smothered in savory sauces, crispy bits and bonito flakes. Super satisfied.

We found this authentic Japanese restaurant serving Ramen, Rice and noodles in a warm, inviting space near NYU. It tasted just like what I had in Tokyo last year. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

DokoDemo is a welcome surprise in the East Village - casual, efficient, and satisfying. The setup is straightforward: order at the counter, grab a seat, and settle in for a relaxed meal. Service is quick without feeling rushed. The menu keeps things simple and well-organized. The front page shows photos of the dishes, while the back lists all the items; mostly hearty entrees with a few sides. It makes group ordering easy and low-stress. We tried a a few dishes: yakisoba noodles, udon noodles, fried chicken over rice, a spicy beef bowl, and okonomiyaki. Everything was great and came out quickly, fresh and hot. Portions were generous without being over the top. For the East Village, DokoDemo stands out. You can actually sit down, enjoy good food, and talk, all at a fair price point. I will gladly return!

The perfect Japanese grill. But it’s a very small menu of individual classics: one great ramen dish (pictured). One good yakisoba (pictured). No beer though!

Friendly people, great food, very authentic and reminds me of what I had in Osaka. Although it is a bit pricey for what you get. To order you have to go up to the counter and order.

Legit authentic Japanese food. We got Hakata-Yaki Udon, Fried Chicken, and Hiroshima yaki. They were all fire, and unlike Kenka, their serving portion is good 👍🏻 We sat outside. The whole vibe was just very chilling and refreshing. The hospitality they offered us so good 👌🏻 Highly recommended, but lowkey don’t want this place get to busy so I can visit again..

We ordered the Hiroshima-yaki and beef yaki udon, both were absolutely delicious! The outer crepe-like layer of Hiroshima-yaki was really good, thin and slightly crispy, almost mochi-like, not too thick or doughy like other okonomiyaki I’ve tried! It fully covered the ingredients inside without being too thick or filling, just really well balanced and flavourful! The yaki udon was also amazing! The udon was perfectly stir-fried, full of flavour, and the beef was tender and tasty. You can tell everything is made with care. Their homemade yuzu drink is fabulous too! And best of all, the owner/staffs are super friendly, chatty, and genuinely passionate about the restaurant. You can really feel their heart in the food and service. Definitely a spot I’d love to come back to and recommend to friends!

Came here with my best friend who is from out of town and we split a hiroshima-yaki, it was delicious! Ingredients tasted super fresh and the flavors hit a craving I didn't realize I was having. Service was quick and lovely, the guy who rang us up was funny and super welcoming. We will be back ^^

I go to Doko Demo every time I’m in New York. It’s a simple and welcoming spot a great little local gem that always makes you feel at home. The food is absolutely delicious, portions are generous, prices are fair, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Everything is fresh and made with care. We’re always greeted warmly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Honestly, it’s the best dining experience I’ve had in New York. I keep coming back and I will every time I’m in town.

The soy sauce based yakisoba with tofu tastes SUPER good. I got hot, and the spice was a good kick without overpowering other flavors (front of mouth, non lingering burn). Keep in mind that I'm a spice lover. I'd highly recommend this place!! Freshly cooked, great service, cute restaurant, and an incredible chef! I just read the chef's story as now I'm heading back for more - To the chef, I'm grateful for your sacrifice and hard work to put this yummy food on my plate! Especially as a vegetarian, there are rarely options, but DokoDemo has a couple flavorful vegetarian choices. :)

Amazing fried Chicken. Soft and crunchy (rice puff) on the outside with every bite. Clean ingredients. They definitely used new oil. Yuzu lemonade 🍋. Nothing beats it. Pork Okonomi-yaki is just soft while cabbage is crunchy. Fresh ingredient once again. Feeling light yet full at the end. Must try

Hiroshima style okonomiyaki.... THE BEST 🤤 hard to find in Manhattan. My favorite food and they did it perfectly 🥰 Yes there are noodles in the picture, they have folded it a little like omelet 😄 they will warm up sake if you ask 😉

This place is so awesome from the music to the decor! Its super original with great staff but the food is the ultimate standout. We had the Hiroshima-Yaki a combination of yakitori style noodles with grilled chicken cooked between a savory pancake coated with bbq and mayo that was freaking bomb!!! Plus that cabbage on the side?! Bruh! The pork dumplings were just as we expected great balance of umami and onions with that nice dark sauce that was surprisingly heavy but perfect coating the exterior. Dokodemo is the spot for unique japanese grill food with a modern urban adaptation that fits the crowd like myself. Will be back! Thank you Richard for the excellent experience!!!

LOVE this place!! I’ve been coming here almost every week recently, and they never disappoint. The food is delicious and staff is very nice. I’m vegan, and always have a couple options on the menu here. The soy fried rice and edamame are my favorite!! Keep up the good work guys!!

This place is great! Awesome little restaurant for Japanese street food. The food is great, it's well priced, and the restaurant has a nice chill vibe. You pay at the front and they bring your food out, very casual. I've been here a couple of times and my favorite is their "ramen rice." If you like spice, get it spicy, it has a good amount of heat. It's really good! I really recommend this place, it's one of my favorites in the city right now.

I came in quick but I wish I had more time. Definitely will come back because the food was incredible. The menu is small like 10 options so you know the chef was mastered every dish. My pasta left me full and I enjoyed the spices and the texture of the noodles. I recommend this place but make sure you have enough time to enjoy every bite!

Been coming here since I first moved to NYC. One of my favorite places. Everything on the menu is freshly made in front of you and absolutely delicious. They recently added more items to the menu and I hope that they continue to do so. Quality, inexpensive Japanese-American eats with the ability to customize spice level, type of meat, sauce, etc. I keep coming back for more!

Small room with bass-boosted music to set the tone. You can get okonomoyaki for a minimum cost of around $17, without any additions—a little more than I was hoping for. Topped with your typical okonomiyaki condiments, you're hit with a strong, vibrant flavor. The batter is soft and fluffy, but crispy on the edges. On the inside, the vegetable pieces vary in size, with some being particularly large, offsetting the consistency of each bite. There's not a whole lot of flavor on the inside, leaving the condiments to pull the weight, but they do so moderately well.

Overall just ate a light meal here. Had high hopes because I love Japanese food and tik tok told me this is authentic version It wasn’t bad. Just didn’t blow me away. I think I would go back and try other things. Most of it is classic street food not much health consciousness - which is totally fine to be honest It’s not a no for me but also not running back today
