Evalyn's Tap House Albee Square Reviews
Great draft beer selection and AMAZING burger (probably best one we had in a while), steak was delicious too. Place has a nice atmosphere, good music and terrace outside. And they do have happy hour every day which is very convincing to stop by and have a drink 🤣
So good! This burger was one of the best I've had and so were the fries! Drinks were great too, loved the hard kombucha. We went for trivia night and won! They have it every Tuesday, a different theme and it was a lot of fun. The host was amazing! Highly recommend this place.
Evalyn's Tap House in Gowanus is a super hidden gem, but don’t let that stop you from checking it out! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the throwback music playlist sets the perfect vibe for a relaxed evening. We had such a good date night dinner here!! We started with the large, warm pretzels – absolutely perfect for sharing. For the mains, the steak with fingerling potatoes was fantastic (I skipped the chimichurri, just my personal preference), and the loaded Tap House burger with fries was a winner. Juicy, flavorful, and satisfying! Also the shrimp wontons, super good!!! This spot is definitely worth seeking out, and I can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend for great food, chill vibes, and a memorable experience! They also offer the place for events for FREE! Just cover food/drink & I think thats awesome! Place is decked out in fairy lights and has beautiful floor to ceiling glass to outlook. Loved it! And will be back!
Best spot in Brooklyn to host an event, meet up with freinds, get a quick bite, enjoy your night with good music, etc. This space has such a great vibe that it works. I hosted a screening and I LOVE how the staff was able to accommodate last minute requests. They allowed for us to setup with enough time to finish the film before closing. Beautiful people, beautiful atmosphere and beautiful night. Very lowkey, but high value. I can’t stress enough how much I love & adore this Tap House.
Just had a baby shower for a friend and we had a wonderful time and experience at Evalyn's Tap House. It is super rare to find a place that will host your party for free in NYC and with no hidden charges or fee so this is a true and rare gem. Communication was great with Vanessa and Steven the bartender was the best! Great food, drinks, and vibes and baby shower was a super success!
Okay, wings are too good!!! Burger is JUICY and their steak, oof I loved it here!! Brussels were a bit burnt, yet the cocktails are really something to speak about. They have amazing trivia Tuesday nights and a special daily. Check out our video and follow on Instagram @JadaExploresAll!!
Went for brunch. Menu was straight forward, server was friendly and super attentive, I didn't have to look around wondering where is my refill for bottomless mimosas. The atmosphere was nice, relaxing, it was not a rush to get out. The music was not loud and overbearing. The food was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back.
Spaetzle Mac and cheese was off the charts great and cheesy! Beer options were solid and atmosphere was relaxed. I’d go back ‘
i’m a big fan. great beer list, big pours, great food. the house made arctic char was velvety and delicious. the burger was awesome. rare to see a euro style burger but with excellent quality beef. my wife’s wild grain bowl was delicious.
Huge thanks to Evalyn’s Tap House for providing such a gorgeous venue, incredible food, and an amazing staff that made the experience even better. Every detail was on point, and the atmosphere was perfect for the event. Shoutout to Monster Energy for coming out and being such an awesome company to partner with, and helping to bring everything together:) 10000/10

I climb right above this spot and love coming here afterwards. The steak with chimichurri is my favorite and hits the spot without breaking the bank. The drinks are always flowing and there’s a good mix of local brews and non alcoholic options. The staff here is seriously delightful! I appreciate their efforts to bring community together, especially with art, music and film showings. Would love more of these events! It feels great to get food, drink and some culture all in one.
Hosted my birthday gathering here 2 straight years and it’s been a wonderful experience each time. Service is awesome and it’s truly a gem to host a free gathering. Be sure to create your Spotify playlist and send your food order in advance of your gathering/celebration. Additionally, the space is beautiful!
what a sweet spot! beyond the delicious snacks and ranging beer options, the people really make it special. we stumbled in on a wednesday karaoke night with uncle rich— what an ABSOLUTE delight! extra shout out to steve, made sure we were taken care of (and also has a great voice!). we’ll see you next wednesday!
I had my birthday party here last weekend, and I highly recommend hosting a party here! It was incredibly easy to book and they were very flexible about any last minute changes, the service was great (thanks Mark!), food came out quickly and was delicious and everyone had a great time. Perfect casual spot to host a party!
My friends and I were in town for the funeral of a dear friend and came for dinner and drinks during a really difficult and sad time. Mark was the bartender/waiter and was so incredibly good to us. He took great care of our big group and was so kind, empathetic, and caring. He's a gem. Thank you so much, Mark, we appreciate you!

We recently celebrated a birthday at Evelyn’s Tap House Bar, and it was such a great experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. A big shoutout to Mark, our bartender, who truly made the night special. He was incredibly friendly, energetic, and just had a fantastic spirit that kept everyone smiling. One of the best parts of hosting an event there is that they let you play your own music, which really added a personal touch to the celebration. It made the whole night feel more like a private party with friends. The only minor downside is that there’s no set closing time, which can be a bit unpredictable if you’re trying to plan your night. Thank you to Steve for extending it another half an hour. But honestly, the overall vibe and service more than made up for it. Highly recommend Evelyn’s for anyone looking to have a good time, especially if you’re celebrating something special. Thanks again, Mark and Steve!
A bit out of the way, went for a birthday celebration, music not too loud as to allow ok conversation. Large tap selection as well as $16 cocktails. Ok party sliders and pretzel bites, only 6 small wings for $16 cooked well, not really spicy. Friendly staff kept our drinks filled.

The hamburger was very heavy. The German sausages did not come with bread. But the turkey wrap was really yummy. It’s just your regular bar. Definitely bring your friends here and chill on a Friday.
I went there with my brother the other day. I ordered beer but it tasted like all bubbles were gone. Probably it was the bottom of the keg already. They waiter replaced beer with a different one I hope free of charge. I waited to for food for about a half an hour and I got it. It was not bad, but it was not delicious. I understand that this is not a restaurant, but a tap house, but try to make it at least good. I am sorry but I did not like not fries not the burger. It was mediocre, lifeless afternoon lunch. Fries were not crisp and had to much oil. Burger was not great either. It was probably made from defrosted ground beef plus some smoked sausage (which felt really out of place) that was not great either. Plus some light mushroom with onion. That is it. Plus flat beer that you see on the photo. Service was great though.

Me & a friend decided to throw a birthday party here after seeing their ad for “free parties”. Inquired & was told we would have a private section to ourselves that would not interfere with other guests, plus a “personal bartender” along with being able to set up some decorations. Upon arrival there was still a major party of people seated right at the same section we were promised. They overbooked for the money & in return gave us a bad experience. Said they would be gone exactly 30 minutes later only for the party to still be there over an hour which made us have to work with the little we had. Our guests arrived only to all be sat the booths which ruined the intimacy of the event. They did not state that there was little to no room to hang anything up either. After we made something happen, someone moved some of our balloons because it was conflicting with the atmosphere yet that could’ve been avoided by the establishment. We weren’t even given some sort of grace such as a free shot, but were pressured to be exactly sure of our party number when it didn’t even matter since everything was all screwed up. Funny enough, we were told if less than the number we gave showed up we would be charged per person. For such poor customer service? Will not be returning. Couldn’t use the patio either as there were so many people. Was also told we could send in a playlist for our party but it must be sent a week prior meanwhile we booked about 2-3 weeks in advance but was never advised. They even closed early despite the place being full, most likely from the stress of having THREE whole parties (an additional showed up after the first & us) beware. There is always a catch. Can’t expect good quality for free!

We showed up an hour and a half before closing, excited to finally try this spot and easily ready to drop a $100 tab. Instead, the doors were locked, tables were already stacked, and the place was clearly shut down early. A staff member sat in the back scrolling on her phone, ignoring calls (we literally watched her see the phone ring and not answer). The cook was hanging around in back, but no one cared to serve customers. It’s incredibly disappointing when a restaurant chooses convenience over hospitality. Closing early is one thing. Doing it while someone’s literally standing at your locked door is just disrespectful. Hours posted are clearly just for decoration here. Not only did they lose our business tonight, but they lost future visits too.
My recent visit to Evalyn's Tap Room was disappointing. Despite it not being busy on a Friday night around 7-8 p.m., the service was neglectful. The staff seemed more interested in socializing on the wrong side of the bar than attending to customers. I ordered the rice bowl, which was more of a salad and had a strong, unpleasant aftertaste, almost like kerosene. The West Coast IPA I had with it also tasted watered down. Given the poor quality of both the food and the drink, and the lack of attention from the staff, I won't be returning. It's a shame, as the place has potential.
