Hollywood Diner Albee Square Reviews
Grilled cheese on rye-delicious! Homemade tomato soup-outstanding! Grilled chicken sandwich-wonderful!! Noisy & busy-awesome NYC ambiance!! Wait staff on point!! We’d come again!!!!!!!
You'll appreciate the visual thought put in. I've tried several main dishes with satisfactory results. The employees combine friendliness with problem-solving. Previous visitors assessed this place correctly. On balance, the staff performed well and I plan to return.
We had a long day in the city and need a spot by our parking lot. This morning we saw they were packed full and decided to stop by after a failed visit to Eataly. This was the perfect spot for everyone to find something they wanted. It came out quick and was absolutely delicious. Chicken noodle soup was wonderful and came out HOT! The chicken fingers were perfect for any picky child. Chicken pesto panini was delicious!
Great spot with delicious breakfast omelette and home fries. I ordered an avocado and spinach omelette that came with a side of home fries and toast. The omelette was made with three eggs and was well made. The home fries were fallen apart but had the golden crispiness and delicious flavor. My husband ordered the turkey bacon croissant sandwich and he absolutely loved it.
Exactly what you want and expect from a NY diner. Very relaxed and chill, a huge menu and everything exactly as you expect. It’s right next to the subway station so it’s super convenient to get to, right by all the large shops on 6th (container store, Michaels, tj maxx, bb&b, etc) so you can fuel up here before or after you shop. The Reuben was the best one I’ve had in the city so far— the corned beef melts in your mouth and the bread was perfectly toasted. AND served with a huge side of Russian dressing so you can indulge. The burger was also good and juicy and cooked perfectly as ordered. The fries were good and the only thing that could have made them better was if they were crinkle cut!! :) All in all great diner and can’t wait to go back.
Was in NYC and was look for a good breakfast and I truly found it. The service was friendly and fast. The food came out hot and fresh. They serve the big link sausages, made the potatoes the way I like it. I had a veggie omelette and added cheddar cheese. It is much better than Johnny’s! So if your in the neighborhood and hungry for a good breakfast stop by Hollywood diner Angie a great meal!

Food was good. Large portions. Friendly atmosphere. People talk a little loud but their personal conversations keep you entertained

A lovely little diner conveniently located near Union Square with numerous subway options. The food is fantastic as is the service. Aleays made to feel at home. Have been coming here for breakfast …
The food here is outstanding and the service is friendly and efficient. The prices are very good representing really good value for money.
Very good location and a wide variety of food on the menu, serving size were pretty normal for NYC! Very good service overall 4/10.
Went here for dinner. The food was okay and it's pricier than some other diners. The service isn't great because we waited a long time for the food and we had to ask another server if they forgot our order. They have a good seating area, both inside and outside. This place isn't bad but it isn't great either!
Small to medium sized diner on the corner, right by the subway. Fairly empty at 1PM, so we were seated right away. Good service. Coffee hot and delicious. Eggs up were okay, as was my wife’s breakfast sandwich. Our milk and sugar scraps were picked up right away, and our coffee cups refilled just as quickly. Tiny, old bathrooms. But the diner was just what we were looking for on a rainy day after a doctor visit; good service, good food, and a place to relax without being rushed. Plus, the bill was remarkably inexpensive for these days.

Tasteless food. Even the coffee is bad. Everytime I come here I wish I hadn't. Today's vegetarian omelet and potatoes were cold

Came here for a lunch work on a Monday around noon. Was a little busy but our party of four were seated right away. The menu features the usual diner fare with a good variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, platters and meals. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings. The good - the onion rings were outstanding. Great batter flavor and the right amount of crispness. The so so - the wrap was nothing special. Breaded chicken on a wheat tortilla with cheese and some buffalo sauce. I really did not care much for the buffalo sauce, it was not spicy or tangy at all. The sauce was kind of dried out and more of a robust almost paste to it. The service was adequate from our service, not very friendly though. The food did come out very quickly and the staff at the counter was very friendly and chatty when we went to pay. Overall, not a bad experience but not a place I would go back to with so many other choices in NYC.
The food and coffee were pretty decent: lovely fries, solid BLT and pastrami on rye. However, the sandwiches were advertised on the menu as served with coleslaw and pickle—got neither. Ambiance is cute, classic diner vibe. Service somewhat inattentive. Be advised that the prices listed on the menu are for cash payments; with card there's a 4% surcharged. We ended up paying over $70 for a couple of sandwiches with sides and coffee—kinda steep, probably won't be going back.
The sandwich and mousse were great! The pie on the other hand, i doubt was ‘homemade’ as the menu stated. I was so excited for that pie but it was honestly a pretty dissappointing slice. The crust was completely devoid of taste and even texture. Oh well. The vibes were good and the music was fantastic! And the people and service were fun. But dont get the pie. (Or note to diner Update your pie!)

Despite not being very full on a Sunday morning we werent made very welcome.since we were only buying coffee. Wouldn't take a tip via credit card payment. Wouldn't go again personally
We had coffee which was really good. But we ordered an omelette which had hair in. But there was no one to check up on the table even once. And the salt was weirdly sweet. And even other tables had the issue. Overall an average experience.
Chicken salad sandwich was ok and the cost of it was decent but do not get the chicken fingers - it is mushy because of the amount of oil they used and the meat was rubbery. Left there feeling gross. Waiter was ok so giving 2 stars. Also chicken fingers cost approx $20 which is a complete rip off. Waiter should have discounted or waived the cost of that meal considering my daughter didn’t eat it.
"Hollywood dinner" had a special ring to it - that's what we thought when we first saw the name. First; We tried the French onion soup! It didn't make me want to order anything else!!! The soup tasted bland and had a watery texture, no flavor -I would say water was added or cooked with instead of broth - with and different types of chopped toast thrown in earlier . It said it’s served with melted mozzarella cheese so can’t complain about this part. My partner also had pastrami sandwich and ring onion and he was ok with them BUT based on his words ( it used to be better ) Also when the receipt came, they also made us pay more for the onion rings as it says ( substitute / switch to onion rings for $3.5 and they billed us the original price)
Sunday brunch, Ordered Eggs Benedict was so in the mood for that, what a disappointment, the hollandaise sauce was too thick no flavor and too orange in color. Was so disappointed that the mimosas was to watered down. The rest of my company said that it was an average and below. I can say a good thing about our waiter even though it was busy he stayed calm and collected. Sorry don't thing I'll go there again for brunch. 😕😞
