Magoo’s Place Alpine Reviews
We were in Alpine for a couple of days and the desk clerk at our motel recommended this restaurant. It was great, a small family owned diner with great service, good food reasonably priced and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere
My friends and I stopped by here after 3 days of camping at Big Bend and it was the perfect ending to our trip.
Great place for breakfast! My husband said his eggs were perfect and toast sopping good. The best chorizo taco that I have ever eaten, not greasy! Service with a smile!
Went with family after a funeral. Food was amazing, people were attentive and helpful. Great way to end our visit to alpine. Thank you all!
Great breakfast spot! Had an all veggie omlet. Great service. Authentic!
I can’t blame this place for anything. It’s small, usually very busy, and has limited staff. But great food and pleasant workers. If they’re harried and seem short, or if you’re not attended to as fast as you think you should be, do go across the street (to McDonalds) for mechanical food priced similarly priced! Nothing and nobody is perfect 24/7/365.
Recommended by a local. Very popular with locals and tourists. We had breakfast and it was delicious! Service was good. Price was great!
Great place in Alpine, staff super friendly and fast, great food, busy and we shared a table with strangers who are now friends. busy because the food is excellent. I had the chicken fry with jalapeño gravy, mom had The green enchiladas. I also got asada & chili verde Burritos to go. Thanks yall.
This place was recommended to us from someone in Fort Davis and I am glad she recommended it. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic as well especially since we came in 15 minutes before closing time. I really liked our waitress since she was of great spirits and she really took good care of us. We will be back again when we are in the Alpine area.
Great Breakfast, reasonably priced! Come in grab a cup and pour yourself a cup of coffee before you sit down and enjoy your day.
Passing through Alpine, TX on a road trip. We found Magoo's. We were hoping to have breakfast, but they switched to the lunch menu at 10:50. We were a little bummed out about that. However, we tried the cheese burger and chicken fried steak. Both were very good. Dr. Peppers were a good accompaniment. Magoo's was very clean. The service was mostly friendly. Only two ladies serving every table. When we arrived there was only one lady. She was very busy and was a little terse. We thought about leaving, but in the end, we were glad we stayed. Lot's of locals. The servers seemed to know everyone. I'd give this experience a solid B.
Diner with lots of diners. They were super busy, but we were waited on quickly and got our food quickly. We both had burgers, and they were both very good. Grilled buns, fresh meat, and all of the fixings. They also had Mexican fare and American things like chicken fried steak.
Cute local spot in Alpine! Food was fresh and just like a home-cooked meal from grandma. I got the #1 on the breakfast menu - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 1 sausage, and 2 pancakes. Service was prompt until I was ready to leave. Had to wait a little while for the check to come to my table so that I could go up front to pay. Please note that there is a slight up charge for paying with credit instead of cash. Great food and place overall! Would recommend and will come back the next time I’m in town. 😀
This is one of the only places to get breakfast in this small Texas town. Don’t expect anything but a basic eggs, greasy bacon, so-so coffee. Service is easily overwhelmed… customers were helping themselves to coffee & tea.
This place came highly recommended, but I have no idea why unless Alpine just doesn't have any good restaurants. The food was acceptable at most...nothing special at all. Although simple, the green chili chicken enchiladas were pretty tasty...beans and rice cooked okay...great if you are really hungry and not particular. The bacon on the cheeseburger wasn't really cooked (ack) and the fries seemed over cooked. The service was not so good. The waitress was very snippy and probably the rudest waitress Ive encountered in a long time. We definitely felt like we were a burden to her just trying to make our order. Stuff was dropped on our table in a quick unfriendly way and there was really no care or appreciation of our business. I'd rather go to McDonalds across the street if I ever venture back to Alpine.
Food wasn't bad. Service was horrific. Servers acted annoyed to be there. Spend my money that treats customers like that? No thanks. I'll go elsewhere.
We had a Togo order. Told us it will take 10 minutes which we are fine with. After 30 minutes of waiting for 2 tacos, they still didn’t come out. I talked to the waitresses and told them that there were 2 different tables that have gotten food before us as they came in after we arrived. 40 minutes total for 2 tacos. Horrible service.
