Fashion Café Aosta Reviews
Delicious! We enjoyed every bite. We stopped in Aosta on our way to chamonix and according to google reviews this place was highly recommended. It delivered! The bigoli al ragu was amazing, I wanted also the local soup but the waitress advised against as the portions are generous. I followed the advice and she was correct, I couldn’t finish the dish entirely, as I also wanted to taste the ice cream with warm chocolate and chestnuts. It was tasty!
A local recommended this restaurant to us. It features a beautiful decoration and well-dressed servers. The service is welcoming and efficient, and the dishes are delicious. There are many options on the menu, and I wish I had been hungrier that day or had more time in Aoste to try them. Note: An English menu is available.
This osteria serves mainly local dishes - so lots of cheese - but specialising in goose, which I didn’t have. My entree of vegetables in pastry on cheese sauce was a bit plain and my veal was the same. But it had gorgeous polenta. My partner’s main was sausages in a tomato sauce on polenta; much tastier. Unusually, the servers are all female and they were all nice. ( no English however)
Among the crowded street, it situated in a quiet compound and very peaceful. There were many guests but plates were served very quickly. My plate , as you can see in photo, was very delicious. Goose leg was grill very well and sauce made it perfect. However I’m giving 4 stars because the rest of the plate (potatoes and fried vegetable) didn’t go so well in general. It made the meal a bit heavy. After eating meat with sauce, it would be better if there’s something refreshing like small salad. Aside from that, it was a good meal.
1 star is given to the appiter of 3 kinds of traditional goose. The other star is given to the waitresses there always smile and cheer you. I don't know why they got so high review rate from google. The cheese fondue taste like milk mix flower. The goose ragu pasta looks tasty from the picture but the texture of fresh pasta taste like the overnight noodles...horrible (ragu itself is tasty). All cold cut and Lardo made us very disappointed because normally this kind of restaurant in the moutain always offer delicious local cold cut, but the one they offered are even worse than yhe one you can find it in the supermarket. They even ruined Tiramisu which taste like dry thick panna colored in yellow, It is obviously not made by mascarpone cheese. Maybe the high review is because everyone is same as me that we go there by reference of google's review. It is not worthy to book this restaurant so early even that night when we went there were full booked as usual. I never had so bad experience by reference the review of google. Be aware of it if you really have high standard of food and wanna taste good quality mountain good in Aosta, you will be disappointed.
DON’T GO!!!!! Terrible service, the lady who was supposed to arrange the table was the rudest person that I have ever met. We booked a table for seven people at 21:30, but we arrived earlier because we made a mistake (we thought it was 21h). The owner asked us to wait (we were in three waiting, so we weren’t occupying a lot of space)… suddenly I saw this lady complaining a lot about us, and asked to wait near the toilet and we went (without complaining). My sister in law went to get the menu to see what to order later, and suddenly this lady started to yell at her, saying that we’re not supposed to get the menu, because we arrived earlier. She completely lost her mind with no reason. This woman was so unexpectedly rude that we decided to leave the restaurant without eating.
In English: The WORST restaurant I have ever been to! My boyfriend and I were looking forward to a pleasant evening dinner at Osteria dell’Oca, however, this quickly turned out to be the worst experience in the hospitality service I have EVER had. It started off with me asking to order our food. The staff were walking back and forth straight past me, not even giving us a second look. I repeatedly called for the waiter (in Italian) and was ignored multiple times. I eventually had to shout loudly (to a point where people were looking at me) to get their attention, to which I politely ordered in Italian. There was no prices on the menu so we had no idea how much any of the food would cost (unacceptable). I also asked for tap water in Italian (bottled water ironically was marked on the drink menu as €3; my boyfriend and I are students who saved up for an Italian getaway so every euro counts for us). They flat out refused to give us tap water, saying they ‘don’t serve it’, yet, a few minutes later, they gave tap water to the table next to us on a serving tray and a smile. How ironic! In fact, the waiter went to get her colleague over to talk to us, and she stormed up to us with a snarling look and begun shouting at me that they didn’t serve tap water and that it’s only allowed for certain dishes! I wish I was making this up. The experience from hell didn’t end there though. The food was absolutely disgusting (my boyfriend’s pasta was hard and tasteless, my veal tasted bland and nasty). I called the waiter over again to politely discuss that the pasta was hard (I didn’t mention my veal), and, once again, she brought over TWO other waiters this time to repeatedly shout at me and say that the pasta is fresh, then yell a string of Italian words at me despite me saying (in Italian) that I didn’t understand. Any rational person would taste that pasta and know that it was not cooked properly. Still, that woman was not finished. She slammed the bill on the table, snatched our plates away, and gave us a filthy look while passionately talking about me to her colleagues (in front of me). If you can take one thing away from this review and my experience, let it be this: NEVER go to this restaurant. The food is horrible and the staff are even worse. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
