BZ Grill Astoria Reviews
It’s a very beautiful place, clean, and the woman who welcomed us was super friendly! The gyro is great, the meat has no tough parts and is cooked perfectly … The only thing I think was missing was fries, which would have made the flavor completely authentic..overall, the place is amazing and definitely worth visiting!
Food is delicious and everything always seems very fresh. The beef & lamb kebab is so good and always very tender. Chicken is good, too, just sometimes a little dry. But only sometimes, and that's the only complaint I have over 7 years of being a customer here. It's also a small, locally owned business, so that's definitely a plus. Portions are generous. French fries are delicious - crispy outside, tender inside.
It’s a low-key hidden 💎promise this Gyro spot gotta be in your top five! juicy yet crispy Gyro fluffy crispy, pita bread thing almost melts on your pallet. Great flavors.
I stopped by BZ Grill in Astoria for a quick lunch and left seriously impressed. The owner, Margarita, is a super nice, hardworking lady who clearly takes pride in her food — everything is made fresh and with care. I ordered the Bifteki Sandwich Lunch Special, which comes with fries. The bifteki (a seasoned Greek-style all-beef patty) was packed with flavor — juicy, perfectly grilled over charcoal, and I could taste a hint of cumin and other warm spices. Easily a 9/10. I also tried the kebab— a delicious mix of ground beef and lamb with Middle Eastern spices. It was tender and flavorful — a solid 8.5/10. Overall, BZ Grill is a must-try for Greek street food lovers. Great flavors, generous hospitality, and a clean, welcoming vibe. I’ll definitely be back!
Food: Delicious. Nothing felt heavy or greasy, everything tasted fresh - hard to find in a Greek restaurant! The falafel was tasty, though I didn't expect it to be made with chickpea flour as opposed to ground chickpeas. So texturally it's more like a croqueta or hush puppy than the nubby falafels you might be used to. Service: Very friendly, attentive, and efficient! Space: Simple and clean, with a small dining area. But clearly they do tons of takeout orders. Prices: Average to low, considering it's an eat-in establishment. A Greek salad was ~$12, a gyro was ~$9, baklava was ~$6.
The atmosphere is casual, and all the staff is polite and attentive without that cloying, annoying, fake attempt to make you feel like family. It doesn't try too hard... -and the food is phenomenal. The portions are huge...I suggest the platter is more like a meal for two people, or definitely take half home for another meal. There are many places to eat great Greek food in Astiria, and this is one of the best.
Tried this place 2 days in a row. First day, we tried the platter for 2 people, came with pork & chicken gyro and sausage/burger version with rice and it was good. Portions can be better though. Second day, tried the Chicken gyro sandwich and they added fries. Looked pretty huge but surprisingly light and delicious! Not a pretty long wait for orders to go since they make it fresh upon ordering, the staff always greets you and have been nice and friendly!
Pork gyro ? A gyro is made with lamb so I wasn’t really feeling it. A bit overcooked and VERY salty. Not what I expected and probably won’t return
I’ve been a repeat customer here for the past 6 years even used to drive from Long Island just to get their food. Not sure what has happened but I got 1 gyro, 1 souvlaki platter, and 1 order of Greek fries for take out and it was $50 and took 30 minutes. After we ordered and paid, a group of the guy behind the grills friends came in and he decided to make all of their food and bring it to them first after we already paid and were waiting for a while. Food finally comes out after we asked them what is taking so long and the fries are so burnt they aren’t even edible. Not sure what changed but I will not be coming back, very sad.
Chicken Gyro was dry and a bone. Almost inedible and the French fries cost $7! I arrived an hour before they close and they had turned the rotating spot off which is probably why the chicken was so dry. I didn't feel so good afterwards. Maybe their other dishes are better.
Don’t come here if you are hungry, the food is tiny size with full size prices, $12 dollars for a pork sandwich which is the size of a Taco Bell crunch taco. The place was good before they started to make the food kids size. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless is during lunch special hours and you are not hungry. Actual size of sandwich is smaller than a can of Pepsi.
