I am actually not very into matcha drinks but my kids are. So we sought out Verse and I got in on the action and wow the strawberry matcha and the Einspanner was amazing. Still not a convert but I enjoyed it enough. The egg Sando was amazing too. Soft fluffy bread, eggy filling and the crunchy texture they sprinkle on top. It was great. Love the vibe, very homey. Line was crazy but goes by very fast .

I needed to find a place to work remotely and have something amazing to eat and drink for the morning. I love matcha but have struggled to find an amazing place in Astoria. Well that has now changed. I will be back many times. Very impressed with their technique and especially the flavors. Wow!

Small cafe with modern finishes that serves Sey coffee. Sey is the king of NYC coffee so you can’t go wrong with whatever you get here. I got the drip (forgot the blend) which was citrusy with an agave-like sweetness. Extremely light bodied. I was shocked by the osmanthus latte. I can’t even put my finger on exactly what about the taste made it so delicious. The osmanthus honey was so unique: not overly sweet and the milk was steamed perfectly, mixed with notes of apricot.

Very good earl grey lavender matcha! Also tried the pumpkin cake, super tasty and fluffy. The space is cosy and there are a few tables outside.

I came here on November 15 in the afternoon. I heard about Verse from a food influencer on instagram talking about persimmon matcha and me who loves to try new drinks and food came just to try this persimmon matcha! Unfortunately the place was packed and doesn’t have anymore seats available, so I ordered my drink to go and enjoyed it in my car. I’m not really a matcha person, nor have I drank enough matcha to tell if it’s good or bad, but I think this persimmon matcha is alright. The hint of sweetness comes from the persimmon and cinnamon itself. The only complaint I have is the straw, the straw is too thin that when I try to drink, the persimmon chunks get stuck and I can’t drink anything. I have to keep blowing the persimmons back out the straw, which is very annoying.

A spacious, great coffee shop! I had their seasonal black sesame latte and added an espresso shot and it was delicious! Will be coming back for the pastries, they looked delicious!

Verse is a clean, well-organized cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. The space is cozy and comfortable—many people come here to work on their laptops. Great coffee, tasty bakery options, and light bites available on weekends make it a perfect spot to relax or get work done.

Both the coffee and matcha are always great here, the pastries are also delicious. The only annoying thing is a lot of laptop people at the peak hours

My fav matcha spot in the city (and I’ve been to them all). Authentic matcha + unique speciality drinks/flavors (the persimmon is my favorite). 🥰😋

Found this coffee shop randomly on Google maps, and am so glad I did. Great place to study/chat with friends. Wide selection of specialty drinks. I got the honey osmanthus! The egg sando is also super delicious 😋

I ordered the Matcha Einspänner and absolutely loved it! The matcha flavor really shines rich, slightly bitter, and nutty just how I like it. It’s perfectly balanced, not too milky or watery. The cream on top adds a subtle sweetness and creamy texture that blends beautifully with the bold matcha underneath. Seriously, one of the best matcha drinks I’ve had. Highly recommend!

It was my first time trying this place. I went to try one of their specialty drinks: matcha calamansi spritz for fundraising money for the typhoon in the Philippines. It's a refreshing tart drink and they used real calamansi juice! I also tried the iced strawberry matcha and the matcha einspänner. I wished they had the strawberry matcha and einspänner as a hot drink as well. The strawberry matcha is good if you want a sweet drink but you still taste the matcha. If you just want a strong matcha drink, get the iced matcha einspanner. The cream is really good. For the experience, I would say I agree with another commentator that mentioned a time limit (2 hrs) for tables for those who dine in. I had to share the booth with a friend while a girl in front of me with a laptop was there way too long even though I already had the table with my belongings there in the first place. I suggest getting your drinks to go and the time limit for tables since I noticed people still kept the table with their laptops for an extended time and finished their drinks.

Is there anything that can be done about the laptops on weekends? This is my favorite spot in Astoria, the best matcha, weekend menu is delicious and the staff is really nice. PLEASE stop allowing laptops on Saturdays and Sundays! My friend and I wanted to try a few things off the weekend menu but every table was full and most people had empty cups and were parked w laptops all day :( the place has the perfect ambience for weekend brunch but the laptop use really brings the vibe down

Overall 3.5/5 I found the matcha here to be quite light bodied, lacking the deep nutty notes I typically enjoy. If you prefer a milder matcha flavor, it might be good enough. Be prepared for a wait if you go on a Saturday, the line was quite long during a late afternoon.

Persimmon matcha seasonal option is definitely one you NEED to try- the cinnamon flavor that peaks out just ties everything together. I love that they make their own syrups & I hear the strawberry matcha is great so I’ll definitely come back to try that. Least favorite item was the Yuzu Espresso Tonic so save your $$ on that & get something better- it tastes like a sparkling espresso with a citrus finish. Earl grey lavender matcha was also very good and would recommend to enjoy that one hot over cold. The persimmon I prefer (lightly) iced. Cute space, but small - I’d say about only 6 tables. The scallop hand roll I had was very good was for $11 I would’ve wanted a bigger portion. Scallop is from Hokkaido so that may justify the price for some. Egg Sando was delicious and you can tell it was made fresh.

Best strawberry matcha I’ve had in Queens. Almost $9 for a small size (with oatmilk),wish they had larger sizes. You can definitely taste the high quality matcha. I do wish there was a time limit on how long you can be at the tables. When I arrived all the tables were full with people working on their laptops. Seems as they had been for quite some time.

Pretty nice cafe that seems to be Japanese-themed. Went on a Saturday noon and it was packed, they’re quite popular. Seems people spend time and work here. We sat at the bar. Got the Horchata Latte and the Nutella bread thing. Wish they had more options like Pistachio latte, etc.

I wanted to see if the hype was worth it. I really liked their matcha with persimmon! It was just right amount of sweetness and strong matcha flavor! It’s a bit expensive but I understand since they use matcha from Kyoto!

Interior is pretty dark bc of the tinted windows, not a fan. But their drinks had good flavor and was high quality - lowkey a long wait tho. Came for the persimmon matcha latte but it was off the menu :( - Salted maple mandarin latte: 9/10, the salt foam is SO GOOD. Somehow everything worked so well tg. I feel like w complicated latte flavors at other spots, u can only taste coffee and nothing else, but this was solid - Strawberry matcha latte: 8/10, pretty solid but not as good as Off Peak in flushing

matcha is great, apple / cheddar scone was dry. but there was no place to sit (because every single person sits on their laptop) at 1pm on thursday and it is extremely annoying. i get it, for some people its a neighborhood cafe but this is getting out of hand and the owners should do smth about that. get your work done at home folks. i won’t be back for that reason. one girl even brought her dog to sit with her while she is on her laptop!! i love dogs and have one at home but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Below average matcha. Got the earl grey lavender matcha. The matcha flavor is mild but you can tell it’s low quality. They don’t give you a sipping lid. There are plenty of workers but the line moves very slow.
