Mighty Oak Roasters Astoria Reviews
It took them long enough but they finally dumped the nasty bench flour no blueberries in my blueberry muffin pastries and now serve pastries from masa madre! Absolutely no complaints now ♡ First review: The coffee is good and since they re opened indoor seating it’s a nice place to hang out or get work done, save for a few times the music is loud and distracting. My major issue is that their pastries are not very good. I know that they get them from a local bakery and don’t make them in house but i think its time they explore another supplier. I got a croissant and it was inedible, just stale and greasy from sitting in the plastic and costs about $5 after the tax. The muffins are sometimes dry and sometimes fresh but you will get a blueberry muffin with 2 blueberries or a banana muffin with only the smallest pieces of nuts and no banana taste. t’s disappointing because I like having something to eat with my coffee.
Clean tasty cup of coffee, staff was flying out the orders so even though there's a line, it moves quickly. Great bean selection to bring home and the pick up window for passerby foot traffic is super convenient.
The best of the best coffee. I come consistently to buy a bag of their coffee beans for home, and even buy them as gifts for others. I typically come to the shop during peak hours and even so, the staff here are warm and greet you with a smile. A wonderful and cherished neighborhood staple. Thank you!
The best coffee in all of nyc & the best, most welcoming staff. They just starting selling masa madre pastries in the morning. Dangerously good. 10/10
Speaking as someone who worked in other neighborhood cafes, Mighty Oak has no doubt the best espresso and general coffee around. I particularly love that all the utensils, cups and straws included are compostable and how warm the interior of the shop is (and that the staff tends to mask!). Although the other day I brought some beans and had the barista grind them for me only to have them end up a bit too coarse. I hope this can be remedied some way.
Mighty Oak is such a gem!!! the moment you walk in, you instantly feel the charm of a small roaster’s café that’s both cute and effortlessly hip. It has that cozy, modern vibe that makes you want to linger with a book or catch up with a friend over a perfectly brewed cup. The design details and warm atmosphere really give it an uptown Astoria feel!! stylish yet approachable, neighborhood-driven yet elevated. The coffee is smooth, rich, and clearly roasted with care, and the whole space has a character that feels unique and special. It’s one of those spots that makes you fall in love with the local café scene all over again
Loved it, and it was a totally surprise find while jogging to Astoria Park on a work visit. The wood roasting adds an element you'll never find at a big chain. I didn't see vegan signs, but the scones were perfectly dense and crumbly. Friendly, relaxed staff. Plants and lifting set a classic coffee shop vibe.
I want to give this place 5 stars and I will tell you why. But first I would like to describe the atmosphere. Came here on a cold fall day around 3pm. I have passed by before and noted that I needed to check this place out. The name of the shop 'Mighty Oak' intrigued me. I like how the shop looks from the outside. Earthtones, corner door. Very welcoming. I go inside and feel the vibe. Very quiet. Very studious. Very chill. Kinda bohemian. Like everyone has their head down in a book or on their phone why music plays in the background. The order: Latte (Hot) 2% no sugar as always. Taste: I like the rich taste of the espresso beans. The temperature is on point. Not too hot, not too warm. So I like everything about this place. Down to the stickers and the choice of complimentary sparkling water or fresh. I could see myself sitting here next time with the book and a cold brew perhaps. Looks enticing in the jugs on the counter. Alas, there was no seats so I left. Even the bench outside had people. 5 stars for the Atmosphere/ vibe, and the excellent coffee.
Mighty Oaks is one of my favorite neighborhood spots in Astoria. The iced latte, as well as lemon cake, were excellent. The staff were attentive and it's a great spot to reflect solo or catch up with a friend. I also appreciate the tap and sparkling water available for patrons. Definitely a regular spot for me.
This cafe is now one of our must visits in Astoria. The coffee was super delicious and prices were very reasonable. We love any cafes that avoid single use cups and they were very accommodating. Would highly recommend anyone visiting the neighborhood and try out their coffee. Also biker friendly as they have a to go window!
Fantastic corner coffee shop! Amazing drinks especially their Mocha, hot chocolate and espresso! Super friendly staff and ambience of the shop. No dinning in but I’m not upset! If you come once you’ll become a loyal customer forever! We go from quite far away now just because we lived nearby once!
The coffee is good and the space is nice, but they really need a toaster for the pastries. It’s the only coffee shop I’ve been to that doesn’t have one, and because of that the pastries come out hard instead of warm and fresh. Adding a toaster would make a big difference.
Maybe the best coffee in this part of Astoria. If you judge from a cup of regular coffee then Mighty Oak is outstanding. Great atmosphere and a pleasant, professional staff make this a welcoming place that I will gladly return to anytime. Nice stop before a walk up the block to Queen's Ink.
Wasn't really feeling it. Lots of one-person laptop people taking up all the two-tops on a busy sunday. Wasn't really impressed with my drink or either of my baked goods. Service was efficient and the decor was nice, though. Might try again if i happen to walk by and it isn't busy but won't go out of my way again.
The service is cold and dismissive and the coffee itself is horrible. Cant believe they roast on sight- they should simply use one of the amazing New York roasters out here who knows what they are doing. $7 wasted...
The male barista working on Monday afternoon, 8/25/2025 was extremely disrespectful. I ordered two coffees, yet only one was made and I had to return to the counter to confirm for the second. When the first drink was finished, the barista simply shouted “cappuccino” across the café rather than handing it to me directly despite me being close by. As I was leaving, he remarked “Sir, your cups..” to which I jokingly replied that since I had already paid, picked up my own drink, and left a tip, something should be on the house. His response—“It’s common courtesy to pick up after yourself, nobody asked you to tip me”—was unprofessional, dismissive, and inappropriate. Did he want me to clean the table too and do his job for him? This conduct reflects a lack of basic courtesy and professionalism, and I urge management to address it promptly.
