Dionysos Restaurant Astoria Reviews
Food was delicious! We got the roasted lamb, Santorini shrimp, dakos salad and humus and it was incredible food. The food and vibes are very authentic and the staff was very friendly. Looking forward to our next meal there!
Everything is excellent food service music and the people they work in side they are so friendly
I love this place. The food selection is varied.. The atmosphere is comfortable. They have live entertainment and decorate to suit every occasion. They place an entire bottle of water on the table so you will always be able to refill your glass. I got to talk to the owner who was very warm, hospitable, and nice. The location can't be beat - it's located in the comfortable neighborhood of Astoria just steps from the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard train station (N,W).
Came here on Valentine's day -- and while maybe this wasn't the right spot for that night -- we had a great time. Staff really made us feel at home. And this place feels like it is by the locals, for the locals. Very Greek family vibe. Food was absolutely the star. I had chicken souvlaki which was tender and flavorful. My guest loved her food, and our grilled octopus starter was delightful. Lemon potatoes were phenomenal. Music starts late but was very nice and authentic. Excellent Greek white wine recommended by our waiter. Great spot if you want good Greek.
Went on a Friday night and it was cozy warm inside. I found parking on the street in 5 minutes. Nice time w live music at 9 pm and food was real good. This is what it's like overseas. Simple clean keto Mediterranean fair.
It was a Saturday night. before Halloween We were in Astoria and were going to go to The Bohemian Beer Garden but it was a total mess with screaming kids and wasted teenagers we couldn’t find a server. It was loud and crowded! Yeesh. So we did a Google search for a place to eat in the area and just a few blocks down we were able to find this lovely oasis of peace and delicious food. We were there earlier and missed the music which would have been fun.
Dionysos is a very intimate Mediterranean dining experience. The food is perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. What sets this place apart from other greek / Mediterranean restaurants is their calamari. Each bite of that calamari is like a dream. I paired it with their house salad and everything was immaculate. The customer service is also top-notch. The food came out quick and the servers were attentive. All in all, visit this restaurant and experience for yourself what they can offer.
Great food and ABSOLUTELY SUPERB service. You can tell the restaurant is family owned and passionate about sharing their culture. Our waiter, Emmanuel, was full of recommendations, surprised us with grapes leaves &dessert when we mentioned celebrating a birthday, and would even talk us out of ordering too much food when we asked for help with the menu. Pictured is pork chop meal and seafood platter for 2, all good portion sizes, don't let the giant potatoes throw you off.
Was shopping in Astoria and decided to take home some local food for din-din. This place had good looking photos so popped by to order takeout. On the google menu it said the souvlaki platter came with both a potato side and salad but when I ordered it, she said I had to pick. She said she would add a small salad anyway... they were very nice and offered me a seat and water while waiting. When I got the good home, I was super excited that it came with tzakiki and toasted breads. Unfortunately, the salad was packed with the hot food and had no feta or seasoning. Chicken had a nice charred flavor, but was super dry. Potatoes were pretty good, I added some thyme to liven it up. I feel this place is better for dining in...
I came with two friends from Greece excited to be in Astoria. Music unfortunately was cancelled that night. Food was good but overpriced and they charged us for a lot. Bill came out to be over 200 just for three people. We had to go so we didn't analyze the bill but it was more than we had calculated it to be. Felt scammed but what can you do. Our morale was wounded afterwards, it was a sad evening. Would not go here again though, in part it was reflective of the area but there were nicer places with better vibea and possibly quality that were around the same price so those might be worth the trip to instead.
The food was tasty and well prepared, but the portions were quite small for the price. The service was friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. However, the place definitely needs renovations, as it feels outdated. Also, people smoke inside including the musicians which makes the environment uncomfortable if you're not a smoker.
Two friends celebrating an anniversary invited me to join them here on a Sunday at 4pm. None of us had been there before, but had heard good things. Never again!! Despite the fact that we we the only patrons there, we had the worst service we had ever encountered in nyc! The young server simply couldn't be bothered. One of us had to get up and approach him (glued to his cell phone), each time we needed something--including the drinks we had ordered. As to the food, all the meats were overcooked.
Not good Don't recommend. From the owner to the restaurant, not good experience. Owner threatens her live talent and not a pleasant environment to be around. Sub par food.
I came here on Good Friday and all was dark, understandably. But this is not a "regular" restaurant. All the signs clearly indicate that this is for "Members Only." It reminded me of The Diogenes Club in The Sherlock Holmes stories! Needless to say I never got a chance to eat there so could not give a fair rating. Sorry!
I’ve visited the restaurant last Saturday and the place was pretty busy. The food was good overall but not of the quality of restaurants back in Greece or Cyprus. The music was quite good but it was a bit uncomfortable to notice the old lady that I believe she was the owner persistently asking the female singers to go and grab some customers, a group of aged men that she looked to know them, and dance with them. That same lady on a couple of occasions came and pushed the chairs of our table, for providing more space to the specific group, without asking us and ignoring the discomfort she was causing. Finally, when I received the final charge on my bank account, it seems that they rounded up the final amount. It may be a few dollars more but that’s so unprofessional. Overall the night started good but ended with a big disappointment.
