Djerdan Burek Astoria Reviews
The cheese and spinach bureks were awesome. First Bosnian burek that I've had in years and I loved the texture. I'd love to come back and try some cevapi and other dishes.
Cevapi and Chicken Soup. What else can you ask in a cold winter? Well, pita bread and service is great too!
Hands down the best ćevapi in NYC — the closest thing to real Sarajevo-style ćevapi. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, soft inside, with that authentic Balkan flavor you just don’t find elsewhere.
I keep ordering the Swirl pie beurek with beef and onion. So crispy and incredibly delicious. I also tried their cevapi and it was really really good.
Went there with friends from the Balkans because we felt like eating something from that part of the world. The restaurant is very unpretentious but in the same time the food is delicious and very affordable. The Burek pie is a must try. We also shared the Cevapi (traditional small beef kebabs) and Pljeskavica. Will definitely go back.
This place offers very authentic Eastern European food. We tried several appetizers, Turkish coffee, and desserts. The flavors were truly authentic, and the prices were reasonable. If you're looking to experience Eastern European cuisine, this restaurant is a great choice. Additionally, there are some grocery stores nearby selling Eastern European cheeses, sausages, and snacks, allowing you to continue savoring the flavors of Eastern European cuisine and various ethnic dishes at home.
Delicious! My husband and I stumbled upon this place when in Astoria for fun exploring and we were hungry. Little hole in the wall, but so glad we went here for lunch. We shared the platter (enough for 2) , a sopska salad (yum) and 2 Burek sticks (1 each). We also got dessert, the wafer pie + krempita. With 2 drinks, came out to $45. Cant complain!
I love Djerdan. Used to live on the opposite corner and it was the go-to place for burek and delicious food. However, I remember better times. I remember when the burek actually had filling inside, and the display shelves were actually displaying some of the food. Every time I go to Astoria, I stop by. This time however, was disappointing. The burek pie I bought was pretty much just layers of dough with minimal, almost non existent filling. The display was virtually empty, with only two sad deserts sitting inside. I’ll give it the benefit of a doubt, and try again next time I am in Astoria, but I was disappointed this time.
The food was good, but nothing exceptional. The prices were quite fair and the burek slice was huge! I’d consider going back but wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.
Why is the food sometimes cold? I’ll never understand do you guys make all of the to go orders in the morning and microwave them later ? Mashed potato’s cold in the center but gravy is hot. The weirdest food experience
What happened, Djerdan?! One star for nostalgia and how awesome your burek used to be! The slice used to have the perfect ratio of filling and the dough was homemade and crispy on the outside. Now, you serve factory made dry pieces of cardboard. Why would I come and eat at Djerdan when I can easily bake frozen pies at home?! You used to stand apart because you served great burek but not anymore compared to all the cheese pies made with bad filo dough at random coffee houses in Astoria and beyond.
The place is really cute, but the service is terrible… the food is even worse. The meat burek had barely any meat, it was dry, and nothing like a proper burek. I think they really need to work much more on the food and stop being so stingy
