Döner Haus Astoria Reviews
The food seems really good to me, especially the sandwich that is a recommended mix Today I tried the delicious rap
Love the kebabs they have, especially mixed. It’s very delicious!
Just ordered two doners from here and glad to say it was delicious. While I can’t tell anything about the place itself or service as it was a delivery order, I can definitely say that food is made with high quality ingredients, price is reasonable and packaging is top-notch. The only thing I would suggest is adding a bit more of sauce but that’s just a personal preference. 5/5
Halal German doner kababs!! This is a simple and small takeout spot. They have a straightforward menu. You order on the kiosk and they prep the food to go. You can mix and match what meats and sides you want with the box meals. We ordered two doner boxes, one chicken and one mixed. Food was ready relatively fast. Very filling and delicous!
The food here is amazing its simple but very flavorful, perfect for any day. I enjoy the wrap with the choice of mixed meat chicken and beef and they are a 100 percent hala staff is amazing, I will definitely come again!!
Delicious German halal platter. Everything in the box was flavorful and delicious. They prepared the food in a fast timely manner. By far one of the best chicken platters I had. The store was very clean and they have a seating area inside. The price was reasonable for the amount of food they put. empfehlen !
I used to go on pilgrimages to Doner Haus on Lower East Side anytime I was craving a doner sandwich but I'm so glad that they moved into Astoria. The doner is truly to die for, especially when you've had a little bit to drink/smoke. It's still very tasty and nostalgic to me and will definitely be going there more often, now that it moved into the neighborhood. The ingredients are fresh, the meat and sauces are very flavorful, and even though there can be a bit of a wait, the sandwich is worth it. 9/10
I was in the area and decided to visit- first time here. It’s very small inside but it does have a few seats and tables available to eat at. The cashier Diana was very welcoming- she was very kind and accommodating as she was trying to make sure if we had leftovers we would have a bag readily available to go. She seems very passionate about what she does and about the food here. We ordered: - Doner Haus sandwich: it comes with onion, lettuce, tomato, cabbage, and mayo. We opted out and of the onion and lettuce. This was a decent sandwich! Very flavorful and I loooove the bread with it. The only thing I will say is the chicken could be more moist. Maybe we got too much of the edge pieces though. Not sure. And it’s a pretty big sandwich too- my husband and I shared one. Overall a decent experience!
Meat was dry , I do believe due to not selling quickly enough, bred is good as well as quality of food 4 a $ … personally would mixed veggies with meet and add more sauce…
I remember walking by here when it opened and it was bumping. I assume there was a free food involved because every time I have walked by since there is virtually no one there (I live a few blocks away). I’m moving away from it so last week I decided to give it a try. TBH this is not really my kind of food (I prefer spicier) and I have no real frame of reference to evaluate Turkish German fast food. That said, I got a chicken wrap and it was totally fine. As others have noted, it was very lettuce forward, but not bad. Totally ok. I would probably give four stars except 1. There was a small chicken bone in the wrap that I could have broken a tooth on; and 2. I don’t really understand the point of the Porn Hub inspired logo. All in all, not bad but I don’t think I would go back given other food options around.
Diana was very helpful and friendly assisting us while we dined in at DONER Haus, however the food was very troubling We ordered the DONER sandwich and wrap with combo chicken and beef and French fries. The fries were fine, but the meat in both wrap and sandwiches were very dry and tasted off (not sure how else to describe it, just very off putting). Now it’s a good amount of food for the price but personally, I would not dine here again.
I stumbled upon this place on Instagram—where everything looks better than real life—and decided to give it a try. I went on a Saturday, expecting the usual crowd and chaos. Instead, it was me, myself, and I. Taste: 0/5 I ordered their so-called famous sandwich (famous where, exactly?). The meat was as dry as my DMs, and the flavor had clearly taken a day off. It was so chewy that halfway through, my jaws started filing for workers’ compensation. I didn’t know whether I was eating lunch or training for a jawline transformation challenge. Value for Money: 4/5 To be fair, the sandwich was huge—basically the size of my disappointment. So if you’re hungry, broke, and secretly want to tone your face muscles, this is your dream spot. Final Verdict: Come hungry, leave sore… and possibly a little sad. 🙃 Would I return? Only if my dentist needs me to build jaw strength before a root canal.
This was our 3rd/4th time getting food from here & it was disgusting! The previous times we’ve gone in person to place our order & the food has been good. This time around we were around Steinway anyway so we placed our order through toast so we could pick up & head back to Long Island .. when we got home we opened the box & it was mostly bits of fat so we only ate the fries & tossed more than half out 🤮🤮🤢 never going back again!
I was excited to try something new and exotic. However the experience was far from that. They sell mediocre sandwiches. I would honestly recommend SVL bar or even shahs for something similar and better tasting. For being a new location I thought their customer service would be decent. However as I entered the store I was greeted by no one in the front as they were probably busy in the back. The cook was there at least. I asked if I could pay in cash but they didn’t accept bigger bills. That’s understandable so I had no choice but to use the tablet for self service. I ordered two sandwiches, one with sauce inside and one on the side. Since it seemed like they left the cook by himself, he was preparing my order, and more customers came in. The cook himself prepared my order to go. However since he was busy he did forget the sauce on the side for one of the sandwiches. I don’t blame him. I ended up walking back to the restaurant to retrieve the sauce because the sandwich by itself would be dry and not as good. I told the girl and guy in front what happened. I even asked if could get an extra sauce since it was an inconvenience to walk back to get the sauce that was missing. They refuse and gave attitude. It’s a small portion sauce. The person that I ended up buying that sandwich for, ended up throwing it away halfway through. He said it was probably one of the worst sandwiches he has had. I on the other hand just think there’s nothing special about it and would probably prefer to even go to a deli.
