I see that this place doesn’t get the rating it deserves due to many not enjoying the hospitality that comes from this place. When it comes to their desserts everything is delicious… I can see how people could feel the service is not up to par and alot of that has to do with the fact that the family that owns this place comes from abroad and their English is not that good. If you want a high quality selection of fresh dessert you will not be disappointed coming here.

Crazy that my favorite local bakery growing up is getting slandered in the reviews. A bit of the misunderstanding is cultural and local norms. First of all, everyone should try their fruit tarts, in my opinion they’re the best in the city but no one talks about them. Their napoleon and most of the 7+ layered cakes are also incredible I’ve been going here for almost 3 decades since I was in middle school, never had any problems even though me and my friend groups were loud and obnoxious quite often. Staff has always been great, sure they might seem like they’re rushing you, but #1 they’re greek so culturally they are just very straightforward, no excess unnecessary sugarcoating and #2 people move fast in NYC so they’re just trying to be accommodating. Prices have always been reasonable, sure they’ve gone up over the years but that’s natural with time and inflation, but they’ve still always been cheaper (for the most part) than the other big name bakeries nearby. Actually give the place a try with an open mind, knowing that all the little local shops you’re walking into every day are a slice of the country they originate from, and will not be the exact same experience that you got at the last place. That’s the beauty of this great city, we get to explore the world and explore new cultures without needing to get on a flight to a different country. Y’all gotta appreciate the massive luxuries that our little city offers us

The reality is simply the reverse of many 1-star reviews. Excellent cakes and staff! It is HIGHLY suspicious that almost all of the 1 star reviews are trying to guide people to Martha's across the road. Stinks of sabotage. Don't let the fake 1 star reviews put you off, this is a great place for coffee and cake.

Wonderful place! The bubushka was so nice! Atmosphere great! They LOVE Indians. I hear they want Indian staff in there for diversity too! Lovely!

The stuff was great, the food was excellent. The owner was very sweet and brought us some other free foods. I highly recommend the place and i would say some of the reviews are biased

This owner is a 78 year Greek sugar cube in a bakery full of a historic 60 years and growing. I will come here and I want to try their tiramisu!

Have been here many times especially since a nearby Greek restaurant stopped serving coffee. But this place is great all the time! The pastries are excellent and the staff is friendly and helpful. My favorite coffee is the frappe on a warm day. It's the best one around and that means a lot in one of our greatest Greek neighborhoods.

Okay I didn’t originally go here because the reviews weren’t the best. When my uncle suggested we go I went. I was blown away by what they had. The service was exceptional and I could not believe how great everything was. The freddo espresso was the best one I had during my entire week in New York. The bougatsa was the best I’ve had in over 20 years and the best ever in the USA. Loved the tyropita but the one from Laiko down the road was better. I do prefer this place though. Even ended my stay with a Greek orange soda (the best)!!! Please try this place for authentic Greek sweets and amazing coffee!!!

Great place pastries are awesome I had a vanilla custard filo and an iced caramel latte my husband had a double espresso and the kids had chocolate covered strawberries.. the woman who helped was sweet super lovely the only thing I would mention is that my husband came in before me we had every intention of purchasing food and coffee but he had to use the bathroom first so he went o the bathroom and then I was going to come in and purchase he ended up purchasing before me then I had to come in separately because the older lady hounded him about using the bathroom he said he was going to order but she was a little nasty and for me that was a downer I can imagine they get a lot of rude customers or people who just try and use the bathroom but we are not those people anyway other then that clean place good food great younger girls but the older woman was rude and nasty to my husband and she didn’t have to be. I would come back good coffee just would try and stay away from her :) plenty of inside and outside seating

I love coming to this place. I’ve been going here for years and the pastries are delicious. I always want all of them. I think price point is fair. The one complaint this place gets is the service, which in my experience has been overall ok, once in a while it gets spotty. I also love the corner location of this cafe, it’s very open and has a chill vibe. I recommend this place if you have a sweet tooth.

The pastries really a wow factor, prices is a little high but who you could blame. Just pick wisely no matter what we deserve a treat. Enjoy

No price tags on display. Last time we bought almond cookies it was 2.75/cookie. Now it’s by weight…? $25 per pound seems insane to me. Folks that’s about 8 almond cookies. Yes theyre tasty but I can’t for the life of me buy cookies that cost more than short ribs unless they were made by angels

The space here seems very clean and looks good, it's bright and very well decorated. Very cute! The cakes here are just "good enough". It wasn't life changing, but it wasn't horrid. Got a cake type pastry and some rice pudding for about $18. As others have said, there are no tags and no prices posted. It is overpriced for what you're getting, and in comparison with other nearby spots that have much better quality in every aspect. The service is bad, and I don't think it's because of a cultural barrier as other people have tried to excuse it as. I think it's because they're just rude. Nobody greeted us when we walked in, that's no big deal- but when we actually started to deal with picking out what we wanted, the woman we dealt with just seemed annoyed. She wasn't helpful, she wasn't anything except trying to get back to gossiping with the two customers she clearly knew quite well. I do not plan to visit again in the future.

some cakes & pastries are delicious, some aren't. i wish they have tags for each cake/pastries because it would be easier for everyone to just say what customer want instead of poiting their fingers. the woman owner isnt very friendly... overpriced too...

We walked into Lefkos Pyrgos Café and were immediately hounded by the older lady working there, demanding to know what we wanted before we even had a chance to look around. We told her we were still deciding, and for some reason she got visibly annoyed — even though the café was pretty empty. We finally chose the chocolate mousse (which honestly looked more like a chocolate rat) and politely asked if we could share one among the three of us and eat in. She immediately started judging us for ordering just one. We asked again if we could sit, and she refused once more, giving us a look that made it clear that we were not accepted here. The whole vibe was so uncomfortable that we switched it to a to-go order. When it came time to pay, we accidentally handed her a $20 bill, and she literally laughed in our faces. At that point, it was obvious we weren’t welcome, so we just walked back home. And the mousse? Dry, with stale almond “ears.” If you give a mouse a cookie, don’t be surprised when you get poor service — apparently that’s the motto here. Please do yourself a favor and skip this place. Martha’s Bakery is much better; kinder staff, fresher desserts, and an overall pleasant experience. Edit:saw the PPPeter YouTube video. The older lady in my review isnt the same one in the YouTube video I believe. And to be honest I don't think I would want to ever go back there, because the experience was really bad. (They might behave differently if you go in with a diverse group vs just a few POC) With that being said Martha's is still the better option lol (not getting paid, just being honest )

I walked in, wasn’t greeted by anyone, they were completely ignoring me, took them a minute to even realize I was there, then this one girl looked at me and said give me a minute, then continued at a very slow pace, making a drink for a customer, I still continued standing for at least 15 more minutes hoping to get some service, but no acknowledgment no apologizes, just her back to my face. I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star, go here if you want the worst customer experience ever!

We bought 3 slices of cake and 1 piece of revani. The woman working there put all the desserts into the same container. When we got home, the syrup from the revani had soaked into all the other cakes. I honestly think that even someone on their very first day wouldn’t make such a careless mistake.

I enjoy the desserts here but the older lady with red hair working today was extremely rude & unwelcoming. I walked to the back to see if there was a restroom & she shouted at me asking what I was doing from the front of the shop and then ordered me to come back and sit at a particular table. It was terrible service. I will not return despite enjoying the cakes.

We had the worst experience before even getting a chance to try this place. A group of us—five adults and three children—walked in to get desserts. One of my friends had ordered something to go, and his girlfriend sat down to have a cookie while the rest of us decided what to order, including my two kids. A staff member immediately started rushing me to place an order, and then went over to our table and told my friend she had to leave because she wasn’t allowed to eat what she had ordered to go. Her attitude was extremely rude, and it felt like it stemmed from the fact that we were speaking Spanish. I asked my friends to leave and suggested we go to Martha’s Bakery instead. As we walked out, the employee actually said, “Yes, better to go there.” No one should be treated differently or discriminated against for speaking Spanish. In the end we got a delicious cake at Martha's with friendly welcoming staff..

If I could give -1 star I would. There’s an old lady there that was extremely rude. One of us had already ordered to go and when she sat for a minute to wait for us the lady was telling her to stand up that she had ordered to go. We didn’t even had a chance to see anything and was already kicking us out and yelling at us that Martha’s bakery was better so we did and left.. do yourself a favor and do not go there.

I wish I saw the reviews before coming here. I stopped by this place to get my sister a treat since it was her birthday. I got a fruit tart and a carrot cake. The slice was so small. The total came out to almost $18, which made no sense. It was wildly expensive. The cake was so dry and tasted like it’s been sitting out for weeks. The tart was no good either. What a waste of money. The lady there didn’t have the best customer service, wasn’t very friendly. I regret spending my money here.

Just left this despicable place. Came asked the lady if we needed to sit down to order she said yes someone will take your order. Had 3 ladies look at me and my friend no acknowledgement at all. Mind you there weren't least t people already sitting down. Well I guess we weren't the type they serve. We just got up and left. Unless you're greek they won't serve you. Is ok I can take my money across for some van leeuwen ice cream.
