Panda Express Astoria Reviews
The food was delicious! The cook named Romar was cooking the food with passion and pride. He even asked us how was the food. We complimented that it was all delicious. I forgot to take a photo before I devoured it so I can only share the left over I had because it was a lot. I ordered the NEW Shrimp & Steak with fried rice. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
It is finally open. I will edit this review as time goes by. It is the first morning they are open so it is expected they will have all their top staff from other restaurants. There are more employees than customers this morning. It looks promising. A little on the expensive side for portion size and it's fast food.
The restaurant is very new and clean. The staff is incredibly friendly, handing out free samples outside and always greeting customers when they come in. The food is what you’d expect: comforting mall Chinese food. Overall decent fast food addition to the neighborhood. I hope it stays this nice for a while!
Clean, quiet spot near the subway. We really enjoyed here :-)

Fresh and tastes like the best Pandas out there. I see some bad reviews, but their Beijing beef was on fire and I had no complaints. Not sure what other people’s experiences were but it’s definitely more deserving than 3 stars.
One of my favorite places to eat. On my first visit, I ordered a few dishes including their pepper steak and their orange chicken. Oh, my! So good that I returned the next few days for more.

I love the Fortune Cookie bag!!! They are so cute and delicious. The cookies are not too sweet. I eat them with my tea. For vegetarian options, get the vegetable spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce and the noodles.

chow mein and honey sesame chicken the best combo 😋🤝
Excited to try this new Panda Express. Staff was very friendly & welcoming . The place was clean & I noticed a staff member which was constantly sweeping ... so that's great. The food was amazing but it was not hot. It was I would say, room temperature .... so improvement needed on temp. All-in-all I really loved it, it was delicious & i will definately be back.

Food was just ok. I got the bigger plate and they forgot to give me the honey sesame chicken breast. Fried rice and lo mein was just ok, no real flavor and the food overall was not really hot. The super greens were delicious though.
Got the bigger combination plate (lo mein, walnut shrimp, orange chicken, beijing beef) with a veg egg roll delivered. For a new location, I’m shocked by how mid the food quality was. I hope they improve this because other locations in the city are pretty good.

The broccoli on the chicken was not properly cooked. It was hard and with a bitter taste imposible to eat.

Shut it down now whoever owns this place and save yourself the stress and money cuz it's gonna happen eventually. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks it's pretty bad to not have any options available to the customer when they enter your restaurant looking to eat because it seems to be a reoccurring critique. Now I'm not one to make a big deal out of having to wait usually but this situation just felt annoying and avoidable. I walk in and there's like 3 options available and they're all chicken and they're all down to the last scoop. At this point I could've and should've just walked out and got something else but I was really itching for Chinese so after a bit of trying to choose I decided to ask the counter person how long it would be for Beijing beef, she called back to the kitchen to ask and they said 5 minutes......it wasn't 5 minutes. It wasn't much longer after the initial five minutes that my patience ran out and I just asked for the 2 measly chicken items they had laying around, she makes my plate and as I'm about to pay voila, the beef is there. Now it's too late for me to get it because she made the plate for me and I didn't want to have her throw out the plate she just made and make me a new one, nor was I offered. The "fried rice" is the weakest fried rice I've ever had. It looks like they use a drip of soy sauce. The black pepper chicken is overly peppered and the Kung Pao chicken was okay. The food isn't good enough and the place wasn't packed enough to rationalize why the whole display was empty and their only option was chicken. Someone should be focusing on what needs to be refilled and having it refilled so when a customer request it, it's available. This is common sense right? Are you guys trying to save money by only making fresh batches when necessary?
First of all I like to be honest with my reviews. Even tho I ate, and the food was good, its was around 2 PM in a cold rainy day and I craved a hot meal,Panda Express was a good option since I have had it in other places and I loved the number of options we had… Well it was NOT THE SAME HERE UNFORTUNATELY, they practically had 4 options which was fried rice, Lo mein noodles, Grilled teriyaki chicken and orange chicken and that was it! All the woks was EMPTY! Sad truth! And after I entered the place more 5 entered behind me! The server was nice and friendly, but unfortunately I think the place needs a better management if they want the place to survive.
I came here to get a quick bite during my work break and it was an ok experience due mostly to the quality of the food. The staff is friendly and on point to suggest or describe any dishes in detail to the customer. I ordered the 2 sides option which was their orange chicken, the peppered steak and fries rice. The food looks hot on display but it's actually not really hot, more on the very lightly warm side to cold, so it tastes very bland and simple. Other than this the venue is very nicely decorated and inviting to accommodates to different seating areas to the customer choice. Other than the food factor the whole experience was ok, but I don't think I will be coming back here for lunch or a casual bite when the main factor for a restaurant customer to back is lacking, the quality of the food, which in this case was served with a not hot temperature as intened. 2 Stars review to account for the friendly staff and nice venue only.
Got 2 bowls. More rice than actual chicken despite being charged an extra dollar. No extra room to move around if there's a line. The cashier forgot the soda I ordered, but it was so cramped in there I just wanted to leave.

First time visiting Panda Express, never again. The food was stale and very bland. Fried rice was just steamed white stale rice. For the price they charge food should be fresh don't ever recommend here at all.
The food is terrible. I’ve had the pepper chicken twice because it looks good. That fake chicken is not edible. I basically ate the rice alone. Waste of money. It was gross and rubbery. I am owed a refund that was horrible.
My 6 year old daughter found a tooth pick in her fried rice! The worker acted careless and tried to say its suppose to be in there and probably came from the cooking. Beyond frustrated! That could seriously harm her. Horrible food and safety.
I’ve given this Panda Express location multiple chances—coming in at various times throughout the day, from early lunch to the dinner rush and even close to closing time—and the experience is consistently underwhelming. The biggest issue is the sad-looking food selection. Almost every time I visit, most of the woks are nearly empty, with just scraps left behind. It feels like I’m being pushed to take whatever is barely left instead of being served a fresh, full portion. You’d think this might be understandable late at night, but it’s the same story at 6 PM during peak hours or even early in the day. The Black Pepper Chicken in particular is way over-seasoned, and in general, the dishes are light on meat and heavy on filler (onions, celery, etc.). It’s frustrating to pay full price when it doesn’t feel like a full meal. What disappoints me most is the overall lack of care in maintaining a decent food selection. When you walk in and see multiple near-empty trays, it’s hard to feel excited about ordering anything. This Panda Express needs to do better about keeping food stocked and fresh—otherwise, what’s the point of going in at all?
