La Perla Austin Reviews
For fifty-three years La Perla has been a staple on Austin’s Eastside. Home of the ”Armodelo”, this cantina is a great place to come grab a drink, play pool, and meet the locals. I love the deep history, the atmosphere, and the ownership. Eddie and Nicole, as well as the bar staff Nathan, JP, JT, and Caleb all show love every time I come through! See you there!
It was like stepping into a small bar in Mexico. Very authentic little place, easy to miss. My friend and I came for a few drinks after working SXSW and loved it, think it was my fav bar we went to all week! We tried their Spicy Modellos we saw a few people drinking, with Tabasco and Lime on the rim which were interesting. Great place, great environment, probably don't come here in a big loud group
Wow what can I say, except this is a quintessential dive bar in the best way! Friendly bartender, fun clientele, and great music mix. The solo pool table rounds out the vibe. Sit at the bar or pull up a banquet chair next to stacked cases of beer and enjoy the night!
One of the best kept secrets in East Austin. We enjoy bringing friends and family who are visiting Austin. It brings memories of home. Enjoy an Armodello drink and some great music.
Fantastic Street tacos. Some of the best I've had does not matter if it's 8:00 p.m. or 2:00 a.m. I had carne asada, carnitas with red sauce. Grab a couple Dos XX from the small bar next door.
loved this spot! the pool table especially was so fun, costs $1.50 to play. everyone was really friendly and the music was good.
Authentic mexican bar, legit made me feel in Mexico, a dog on the entrance, people drinking modelo with hot sauce (?), watching football and us playing pool, legit made me feel in Mexico, everybody spoke english tho. We won the pool game btw
Great little bar with some mexican atmosphere
Fun place to be, me and my brothers grew up here. Parents had it for 49 years

That boy Jt is a goat. Best prices in town!!!
Best chicken quesadilla I’ve had in my life!!
Caleb was great! Good vibes all around!
This is top 3 favorite bars of all time!! Great people, good music, good beers. Gotta get an ARMODELO!! love you guys!
Seriously the best hospitality exist at this bar! We had the best conversation with people we sat next to… The bartender was also extremely tentative! Later into the night we discovered that we were actually sitting next to the bar owners. It is so refreshing to see the most down to earth kind people running a bar with such great service! We will be back tomorrow!
No frills, low tech, Austin institution that's still fighting gentrification by not giving in. You walk in and you're taking a step back to the late early 70s. Here, you'll find cheap, no frills beer and limited seating. For a change, try their Arm-Modelo: tabasco, lime and salt on the rim. Open, mix and kick back. This is a a place where you go can have actual conversations with persons sitting next to you without music blasting in your ear. It's so small, it's hard not to make friends. Dont expect fancy drinks, just a good time.

Went here on a Tuesday night. They had me at $2.50 Caronas. Great little dive bar. Bartender was very nice & friendly. Will make it a priority to go here every time we are in Austin. They do not serve liquor, but did have, not your fathers root beer which was fine for my wife since she does not drink Beer. Great bar.
Was a customer of this bar and they towed my car!! Complete rip off. This is the way you treat paying customers? You take their $ then tow their car costing them hundreds more? When talking to the bar tender he didn’t care at all. This is what to expect at La Perla I guess. Don’t go!
This place has really gone downhill over the years. The staff are just rude now. Plus their restrooms are some of the nastiest I’ve seen. Never have toilet paper or soap.
Came here. Started to have a good time. Bartender at closing time locked my brother and good friend in because he had differences with someone. Very scary situation. I attempted to ask them to let my friend and brother go. I called the police and the owner and bartender later confronted me and stated that police never come here anyway. Very scary situation. Please be aware when you come to this place.
I recently visited La Perla, and my experience was disappointing. While the atmosphere had potential, the service was incredibly slow, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. The food was mediocre, lacking both flavor and presentation. The cleanliness was also an issue; the tables felt sticky, and the restroom needed attention. I understand busy nights can lead to some mess, but this felt like a regular occurrence. Overall, I recommend looking elsewhere for a night out. There are better spots in the area that truly value their customers.
