Granny's Tacos Austin Reviews
Legit BEST TACOS in Austin. I recommend the Alambre #1 and the Abuela #2 … the orange hot sauce is very spicy too… street parking nearby and plenty of in/outdoor seating on site
Quesadilla and steak burrito were so good and they're very generous with their servings, literally got full with just half. Will definitely be coming back to try their tacos!
Granny’s Tacos is everything you want in an Austin taco spot: vibrant, welcoming, and seriously delicious. The food was outstanding and the service matched it: warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they’re serving. The al pastor was perfectly seasoned with that ideal balance of savory and sweet, tender with just the right char. The veggie tacos were fresh, flavorful, and anything but an afterthought, thoughtfully prepared and packed with texture. And the birria? Absolutely phenomenal. Rich, deeply spiced, and comforting in the best possible way. You order at the café counter (with a full bar if you’re in the mood for a margarita or cerveza), then settle in and wait for a truly delicious experience to arrive at your table. It’s casual, lively, and exactly the kind of place that reminds you why Austin’s food scene is so special. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be back.
Granny's Tacos is a cozy gem that brings authentic Mexican flavors with a homey touch. With a stellar 4.7 rating, it's clear this place is adored by its guests. The tacos are made with care, featuring perfectly seasoned meats, fresh veggies, and delightful salsas that complement each bite. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, evoking the feeling of enjoying a homemade meal at grandma's house. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the high-quality food. If you're craving delicious, comforting tacos, Granny's Tacos is the place to go!
Granny’s Tacos is a must-visit every time I come to Austin. This time, I went in thinking I would only order two tacos—but after one bite of the first taco, I immediately had to get up and order more tacos and drinks. Everything was absolutely delicious. The tacos were full of flavor and clearly made fresh, and the drinks were just as good—strong and well worth it. The whole experience was satisfying from start to finish. Granny’s Tacos never disappoints, and I’ll definitely be back every time I’m in Austin. Highly recommend!
This place is so clutch. Service is always top not.. House margaritas are good and they have the spicy green salsa you get a taco truck. Highly recommend the omelette if you want to Branch out. You won't regret it
Granny’s Tacos absolutely delivered today. The tacos were incredible and easily the best I have had in Austin. The drinks were just as impressive. The margarita was really good too. The service stood out in the best way. Everyone was warm, quick, and genuinely helpful, which made the whole experience even better. Parking was totally fine. There is no free parking, but it is easy to figure out and there are plenty of spots around, so it did not feel like a hassle at all. Overall, an amazing visit. Great food, great drinks, great service. I will definitely be coming back.
By far the best breakfast taco in the area—there's a reason people rave about Granny's Tacos. I ordered from the truck alongside the restaurant and got a chorizo, egg, bean, and cheese taco with hot sauce. Service was fast, the guys working the truck were super friendly, and the price was great. For $5.41, the taco was loaded. There are a few picnic tables outside if you want to eat there, but I opted to take mine to go.Totally worth it, and I will definitely be back on my next Austin trip.
We got Tacos from the Taco stand. Visiting from Australia we have tried a few Mexican places around USA and this was the best so far! Food was ready super quick. Only slight disappointment was a couple of pieces of the steak from the steak taco was chewy, but overall delicious. Chicken one was amazing. Picture of the chicken taco
Highly recommend this tasty spot. Liz helped us navigate the menu to her favorites and she did not miss! What a friendly, welcoming place with great food, generous portions and fair prices. We had the chicken nachos, breakfast tacos, alambre and steak tacos. Brought my mom and my two boys and everyone wants to come back asap for another meal!
Food speaks for itself. Fresh, flavorful and things as simple as Guac and chips are fantastic. Best tacos I've ever had. But...the shine here comes from Jose interior Manager. His attention to detail was noticed immediately when making our drinks. We let him have the show with recommendations for food, not disappointed and overall he just made us feel welcome as out of towners. A++
Very good taco truck with good seating. Truck is right next door to their restaurant. Don’t know if food is the same but most people were at the food truck. Highly recommend the breakfast tacos. They were delicious. Super simple but very tasty. Friendly staff and we really enjoyed sitting outside.
I spotted Granny’s tacos and just knew it was the authentic spot I was seeking. My cocktail was phenomenal and the food was excellent. I got the shrimp, steak, and al pastor on corn tortilla. When I say five star, I mean that! ⭐️Louis was a phenomenal server + bartender. Apparently the breakfast tacos here are A1, too. Thank you for the hospitality and Austin recs. I’ll most definitely be back.
Ordered quesadilla, picadillo taco, and Al pastor tacos. Everything ready super quick. The picadillo was the best. Unfortunately the quesadilla was not very warm and the cheese was not fully melted despite it looking incredibly appetizing when we first opened it up. We sat at the picnic tables. There was plenty of room and the grackles were very eager to steal what they could!
(I’m rarely on the east side of downtown Austin). I attempted go to Nixta taqueria. However, they’re closed on Monday. I had heard of this place before when I googled best tacos in Austin. As mentioned by other reviewers, I agree the meat is nicely marinated, as well as a good portion of meat. I love they slightly grill the tortilla for their tacos too. Every taco is fresh and delicious. They now have a sit down restaurant along with the original truck. If in the area, worth a visit. I
I thought I was going to be more excited about this place after my first visit, but I wasn't. I had the chicken fajita taco and it was very salty. Ordered a bean and cheese too this one had more whole beans than refried not a fan of that either. The third taco was a potato egg and cheese that one was great. The last two tacos needed a bit of the salt that they put in the chicken. I noticed while I was there that the customers kept getting the migas taco. Maybe I'll give it another shot to try that tbd.
Second time checking out this highly rated spot. First time I had nachos and they were just okay. This round i tried the bacon, egg and potato tacos. Again just okay. The egg and potatoes were cooked well but didn't have any flavor. The tortilla was really good! There was 1 shriveled piece of bacon on each taco. They did a good job of fully filling each with potato and egg. The green sauce was okay. Overall I'd say try one of their more popular items as this must be where the high ratings come from.
