Lala's Austin Reviews
the bartending staff is super personable and kind. the drinks aren't expensive for Austin. my three drinks are about $25. the gingerbread shot is delicious, it should be a candle. I love that there is a pizza place next door. I love the outdoor area too.
One of the few true Dives left in Austin. Fifty years of history is pretty cool, even cooler now that they have the best pizza in town with Pedroso’s next door. Yes it’s Christmas all year round so it gets really crowded in November and December. That’s why I make sure to come in for a Christmas getaway during the other months of the year. But don’t worry they don’t play Christmas music!
Best rum and coke in Austin! Such an incredible bar, so incredible I had my first legal drink here. Friendly staff and did I mention the rum and coke?
Best spot for any holiday party or those nostalgic for Christmas. They have great hot drinks for sitting outside in the cold!
The best vibe in Austin and the best rum and coke we’ve ever had. If you don’t think that’s possible you just haven’t experienced it yet. Ask for Jermane, he is AWESOME!!! Service is incredible.
If you want to be in a good small bar and avoid the big ones, come on down to Lala's...it's Christmas all year long, nice and cold inside too. Plus you can sit outside and have a Pizza from next door. I always swing by and have me a nice cold Budweiser or three. Friendly staff and a pool table to shoot the time away.
An awesome place for friends and vibes. Ava the bartender was super attentive and polite! I went one evening by myself and she kept me company, respectfully! I love the vintage Christmas designs with the count down. The pizza spot next door is a great way to start, the ‘Pep & Ricotta’ is my absolute favorite. The spicy pepperoni and refreshing ricotta dollops with fresh basil, you can’t go wrong with a slice or a pie!
This is a great little bar in Austin! If you love Christmas this is a fun place to hang out. They have festive drinks and countdown to Christmas day! We tried a couple of drinks the Russian Stout and Tootie Fruity. Both were really good! Santa was standing near us at the bar. Honestly wish the Christmas bars would play Christmas music it would make it more festive and fun! But did watch the Mavs basketball game down to the last second! Bartenders were friendly and full of information like where to get the best Italian hoagie. Which we did get the next day! If you're visiting Austin or live there check out this little dive bar. Also has outdoor tables covered by an awning you can sit with friends, your dog and enjoy a cool ice cold drink! They also have pool tables back room. We didn't try any food so can't give details about that!
Super great, tentative workers. Nice inside area, can be a bit crowded. Christmas themed, ELF chair inside. A good covered patio outside with enough of a breeze in the evenings. Pizza next door, can't take drinks off Lala's property. Brooklyn pizza CO. next door. Pizza is allowed in the bar and patio. Buildings are connected. Definitely a unique part of ATX.
First time here - Cute idea of a Christmas themed bar all year long. With it being so dark near the bar it was hard to read their menu which was irritating but they looked to have quite a selection. Couple of cute photo ops inside which was cute - however the Photo Booth needs to show you where to look because it’s $5 for 4 photos but it’s hard to see where to look. We did like that they had a pool table and got to play 2 games which was nice! (Order pizza from the place next door it’s sooo good)
Eclectic Christmas-themed "Dive Bar" with a chill vibe. Large patio area, super dark interior, nice staff. They don't have a huge beer tap selection, but their cocktails are solid! If definitely go back.
Wow! Love this concept. My gf and I are huge Christmas season fans, so not only do we get to go somewhere as the holidays approach, we can also get that hit of nostalgia all year Staff was Very friendly, the bartender even shook my hand and introduced himself Price was above average for Austin on this side of town, about $10 for a draft hazy IPA. If it was a few dollars cheaper I could see us coming here more often (which would actually lead to more money spent in total… their loss) Parking was Nerve-racking. Pay Close Attention or you Will Be towed/ticketed This was in my bookmarks already to go, but I accidentally landed next door on another bookmark for Pedroso’s pizza next door (excellent pizza!). So that’s a great combo. They’ll even deliver to your seat at the bar! Atmosphere and service = 5 stars Price and parking = 3 stars Overall = 4 stars
A unique small bar based mostly on a Christmas decor. It has a nice outside seating area and quite a bit of seating inside too. The bar offers several types of beer and mixed drinks. The service is decent and prices average. The good news is other reviews said it's cash only but they do take credit/debit cards. The bathroom is clean and that's always a plus. Parking is little, but a sign is posted to use a church parking lot across the street which we did with no problems.
Lala's never disappoints. It's Christmas year round! 🎄They have fun specialty drinks and a great staff to take care of you with. They have a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating for being such a small place. They also have a pool table and foosball table. If I lived in the area this would definitely be my local neighborhood spot.
I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. This time stopping in I noticed the bartenders were so hostile and unfriendly? I don't expect much I mean its a dive bar but they were straight up rude. Maybe we caught Rachel and Nick on a bad day..
This establishment is a joke. If you're thinking about coming here don't! The bartenders behave as if you'd like a drink it's a privilege to have them serve you. They are rude! Straight up rude. I had asked the bartender for a traditional lemon drop and he told me that they had no sugar. Meanwhile they have a full operational kitchen, and I'm to believe that there is no sugar at all in that kitchen? Lazy!!! I tried to carve out some space at the main bar and I politely asked the bartender if it was okay if I stood in the area right where I was standing. Her reply rudely to me was I will tell you when you're in the way and then you will move. These bartenders are not even close to a degree in mixology, they are just rude nasty individuals. I implore anybody that is considering going to this place, don't! I would really love a response because I have so much story to tell regarding this establishment. Big waste of your hard eaned 💰. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid. Regretfully, the management and ownership of LaLa's hires ignorant, rude people. It really could be a fantastic spot. BTW, the music stinks as well!
I just got my second drink outside while seated. When I asked the server where the bathroom is I was told I need to wait in the same line for inside seating just to use the bathroom. That took 30 minutes. If I knew that I wouldn't have gotten a drink. I won't be coming back. My group left disappointed after this instead of getting another round of drinks. To the owners, get your business together. If you're going to have an influx of people and open a tent to accommodate then get some rental porta potty a or something.
My husband and I were really excited to visit Lala’s, especially after hearing so much about the festive atmosphere. The decorations were great, but unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by the bartending staff. They were noticeably rude and dismissive, which was surprising for a place built around holiday spirit. A Christmas bar should feel warm, welcoming, and fun, but the energy from the staff was the opposite. It honestly took away from what could have been a really enjoyable night. I hope management can address this, because the concept is amazing and the space has so much potential. A little genuine Christmas cheer from the team would go a long way! If you’re looking for a place with actual Christmas cheer, I would recommend Gibson Street Bar, and they also have a food truck next door that you can order food from. Similar concept, just better executed!
