Lucky Lab Coffee Austin Reviews
I love Lucky Lab Coffee Co.—their coffee and matcha are some of my favorites in Austin. I’ve sat inside at the bar before and the space is small but really cozy. Now that the weather’s nicer, I went recently and sat out on the porch during a UT game day, and the vibes were fantastic. Such a great spot to hang out and enjoy a really good drink.
Couldn't be more impressed with this spot! While I have not been physically inside, I have ordered catering from them for company events several times. Each time all of my attendees have been in love with the hand pies and vanilla bean cream for coffee!!
The food has only improved in quality since I first came to this location. The handpies and breakfast sanwiches are fantastic. I'm glad they finally implemented different numbers of shots for different drink sizes as well. Overall quality increase over time has earned them a 5 star review. I will say drink quality especially with hot drinks and cold foam has varied some. Consistency could use some work. The speedway location has outperformed this one during the summer in that category. Overall worth a visit for the reasonably priced breakfast sandwich and unique coffee options.
Great service and friendly staff! And amazingly delicious drinks and food! Easily seen from street. Street parking and nearby paid parking. Plenty of outdoor seating. My first time here was a chai latte and croissant with bacon and cheese. I will most definitely be coming back again when in the UT campus area to explore more of their menu!
Lucky Lab Coffee has such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere—great for college students, remote workers, or even if you’re just passing by and need a quick break. The patio is super cute and relaxing, and I really appreciate how pet-friendly the place is. You can tell they genuinely care about animals, which gives the space an extra feel-good vibe. I ordered my go-to: a chai latte. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t bad either—definitely drinkable and hit the spot. But the real win? Their croissants. Flaky, buttery, and seriously tasty. Worth stopping in just for that. The staff was super kind and friendly, which made the experience even better. Whether you’re looking for a spot to chill, work, or just grab a quick snack, Lucky Lab is a solid little stop.
We had chocolate croissants, campfire sweet cream latte with a shot of chocolate syrup and a lemon blueberry hand pie. I liked the college old-school vibe there, students working on their laptops with a glass of coffee. Cute cafe with pretty aesthetics, painted wall arts. I wanted more options to eat, maybe something hot, but they only serve coffee and croissants I guess. It was very sunny today, so we couldn’t sit outside for long.
We stopped by before driving back to Dallas and really liked this place! Indoor and outdoor seating and wonderful options for beverages and food. My husband enjoyed his latte with their Longhorn syrup, I tried their seasonal blackberry/rose iced matcha with oatmeal. Their chai cookie was delicious with some salt that enhanced the flavor overall. The service was super friendly! As soon as they saw a line outside, someone came to get us to come inside.
Loved this coffee spot during our stay in Austin. Our hotel was a five minute walk away. We came here twice during a short visit for their summer special drink- the Thai brew. It is Thai tea mixed with coffee and I loved the combo, super refreshing with a perfect ratio of the two. If it’s on the menu, try it out! You go up to the window to order your drinks. There’s bar seating inside and larger patio seating to the side. The dog theme is super cute!
I was a little tired when I happened to arrive at this amazing coffee spot, but I will say if you live dogs and very patient staff who will let you stumble through a coffee order then this is the place for you. The location looks like a dog park combined with a wonderful coffee shop to find an out doors vibe with loads of character. There are loads of pastries, sadly none I got to try as I was already committed to kolaches. I ordered two coffees to keep me going through the day, the White Chocolate Almond Latte and a Mocha. Both were phenomenal and well prepared. If you like good coffee and the outdoors then this is the joint for you. I'm not sure if they have an inside, but when I went it was window service only.
Amazing receptionist and service. Got their house brew and was amazing. Also tried their blueberry glazed donut- was good as well.
Great neighborhood spot with lots of patio seating and a relaxed vibe. I got my usual iced latte, which I try at every new place. It was decent, though not strong enough for my tastes. There are a few bar-style seats inside and this place seems to have a solid base of regulars. It's a nice alternative to the Starbucks just down the block. Best of all, they’re super dog friendly, which easily earns it a place on my regular rotation of spots to visit with my dog. This is reassuring since so many places are wishy-washy about their dog policy.
Lucky Lab was a local coffee shop that I stopped with a small group of friends to get some studying done during a conference. I thoroughly enjoyed some of the pastries that they had available and decided to go with the chocolate/strawberry Pop Tart which was tasty but slightly dry to taste after being warmed. I also ordered just a regular iced coffee that was your average run of the mill coffee. As far as I can tell, it is a nice, quaint coffee shop downtown that has some good outdoor seating but not a lot available. Would definitely come back again.
Cool place that looks promising but the coffee was too weak and could take it or leave it. I had the chicken sausage breakfast sandwich and that was very good so food is what I’d count on here. This is a student filled area so it may be busy
The woman at the register was not proactive in working out information for the order, so it fell on the barista making the drinks to help us. We ordered two large specialty drinks, and she put two mediums - that's not a big deal. But when someone requests alternative milk, that's your time to make sure they know about the pre mix for your specialty drink and that it's not syrups that can be paired with other milks. Meaning I wouldn't be able to actually have the drink I ordered. The barista making the drinks was kind enough to make me something else after we discussed the drinks. The food: The rhubarb pastry was fabulous, very tasty. The scone was great, had more of a muffin texture on the inside, but the outside had a nice crunch. But I have questions about the turkey croissant - I'm going to tell myself I paid for fancy turkey and thus there wouldn't be very much in there. I'm not happy with the lack of filling, but the croissant itself was a great croissant.
The upselling has been pretty bad lately. They’re obviously trained to ask you if you want a large, which fine—but today they followed up by asking me if I wanted oat milk in my latte, without disclosing that it was an extra charge. Usually they say something like, “is whole milk fine?” so it was a little strange, but I didn’t catch on until after I had paid. The menu is already pretty expensive for students, so it feels underhanded to try and tack on as many extra charges as possible.
Sure you're supporting local, but at what cost. Shitty coffee. I used to love this place but oh my god, it's just gotten more expensive and the quality has dropped so bad. Only pro is the convenience, it's a good meeting place (just bring your own drink).
