Mr. Natural Austin Reviews
Just FYI, parking is for customers only. You'll be asked to give your license plate when ordering. You can not go wrong with an order of Texas sized pancakes! I will make the drive to Mr. Natural because they offer many items for those with dietary requirements and menu customizations are not an issue. The bakery items I've ordered were scrumptious. I'm a regular now.
Hands down the best vegan pastries I've ever had. The flavors took me back to my childhood. Very authentic! Coffee was very hot and fresh! Very nice counter service.
Delicious food and tons of vegan options, vegetarian and even some gluten free ones. The Mendoza family are both neighborhood and city pillars, so please support them!
This was my first time trying a healthy Mexican food restaurant. It has a very healthy vibe. And although I was tentative at first, I really enjoyed my food, and I definitely felt nourished. I am glad I paid a visit and will visit again once I return to Austin. The food is worth trying and the all you can eat salad bar is worth the visit alone.
It was our first time coming here and we tried everything! We got the chips, queso and salsa, fried “fish” taco, “beef” mole enchiladas with rice and beans, a breakfast bagel, and a bunch of cake and fresh pastries! Everything was vegan, and all of it was wonderful. It’s really hard to find places that cater to vegans and vegetarians that is also this delicious! The staff were also so friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you Mr. Natural WE <3 U.
Absolutely incredible experience at Mr. Natural Vegan Bakery. Every single item I tried was outstanding. The concha was soft, flavorful, and perfectly sweet, the café de olla was rich, aromatic, and comforting, the brownie donuts were decadent and moist, and the Bavarian cone was next-level. Easily one of the best vegan desserts I’ve ever had. You would never guess this place is vegan because the flavors, textures, and quality are all phenomenal. On top of that, the customer service was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. This bakery is a must-visit whether you’re vegan or not. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to everyone I know.
So grateful for this gem. We love their frozen tamales and gluten free baked goods. I think their vegetarian meals are so good as well- both from the line and made to order. The staff helped me open the door as I wheeled my mom in by wheelchair. The family who owns this store are authentic and kind people.
Mr. Natural supplied two cakes for my wedding. Their process of quick and easy. The price was right and the cakes tasted and looked wonderful. My guests were excited and happy to devour them. If you need and egg-less or vegan cake, there is not other choice in Austin!
Servers are so kind. The general atmosphere is cozy. They also serve espresso drinks. I could totally work on a laptop here. The holy moly enchiladas are incredible. The unlimited salad bar is extensive. I’m finding myself coming back here regularly! I would get agua fresca all the time if it was 1/4th the sweetness. Oh their homemade wheat tortillas are soo good.
I go for the baked goods. Haven't eaten the food or spent time in the dining area yet, but it sure looks like they know what they are doing. My son has lots of food allergies and he had his first vegan donut. I had one as well (mine was a Boston Creme) and couldn't believe it was vegan. Yum!!
Paola is the best. I only go when she's there. The place has such an amazing selection of food. I love that they have all day breakfast. The fact that i can eat at a restaurant, pick up a pastry & buy some food for home all in one place is amazing. It's all local & delicious & healthy. Not to mention how cool it is that it's vegan too. Paola is amazing though. She's so friendly & gives really great table service. I love all the suggestions she gave & she made me feel really welcomed. I'm so glad she's there
Beautiful local restaurant that has the best food for dietary restrictions! I enjoy the migas (traditional) taco, but they also have a vegan migas that tastes just as good! The vegan queso is a tasty treat! Plenty of baked sweets that are mostly gluten free and vegan! As a celiac I know I can enjoy gluten free food here without the worry of cross contact
Every time I come to Mr. Natural, it puts the biggest grin on my face. The employees are so genuine, and the energy makes it a place I always yearn to come back to. From the bakery to the full menu of Mexican food, it’s one of those rare spots that feels both creative and comforting. They use ingredients anyone can work with at home, so eating here feels inspiring — a kind of stimulation-to-simulation that makes you want to carry the flavors forward. The buffet is stacked with variety: tamales, toppings, stuffings, and a full salad bar. It’s like an endless menu of ideas, all swirling together with the natural life we live in. What a place to experience — Mr. Natural really is something special. .
If you are a vegan in Austin, Mr. Natural is a must try! The staff was super kind and had excellent recommendations. Additionally the interior was spacious with a nice dining experience. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and all those interested in amazing food make sure to stop by! (P.S. try the bakery section 🎉)
You ought to check this place, if you are a vegan food lover. From Baked to Bakery to raw vegetarian food spices to frozen items - you have plenty of items to choose to your cravings and enjoy them. The place looks simple and down to earth, but that only stops on the looks. Once you taste the food, you will realize how good it is. Great people, great food, a very good finding for us today.
Mr. Natural is a treasure for vegan Mexican food lovers! Their fish tacos, enchiladas, and tamales are fantastic, and the vegan pastries, cookies, and empanadas are just as impressive. As someone who grew up eating traditional Mexican food, I’m thrilled to have a spot that serves plant-based versions of my favorites. The only thing I’d suggest is updating the interior for a cozier, more inviting atmosphere. Adding a bar with drinks would be a great touch, too. Can’t wait to try their catering for my next family gathering!
My weekly go-to place; the food, service, and atmosphere makes it feels like home. Food is a bit on the pricier end and worth the splurge every so often. There’s one item that’s not pictured, by the time i remember to take a photo that’s joint is gone. (Yes it’s that good). That is the Vegan Fish Wrap.
It's such a delight to see vegetarian/vegan Eatery that serves everything like Mexican food, soup, salad, cakes, fresh salad. And coffee too! They have Gluten Free food items as well. The place is very clean and quiet. It's also very huge. I ordered Tamale, Chilaquiles, Fries and fresh Carrot/Apple/Ginger juice for dine-in. Very tasty. For To go, I ordered, Red velvet cup cake and pineapple/Carrot Muffin which i yet to taste. Moreso they open early at 8am. This is going to be my go to place in Austin.
So I was trying to find a bakery that could do vegan for my birthday. This was the only place I could find that didn't have items that were manufactured on equipment that had been used with milk or whey products. A lot of times people say that it is vegan but when you ask about where the product supplies come from it will often be on equipment that has also been shared to manufacture dairy or milk or other animal by-products. They were so great at Mr Natural they even called the supplier to check and see for the gluten-free vegan cupcakes if they were manufactured on shared dairy lines which I really appreciated because it can be hard to find and verify authentically vegan desserts. The lady was really nice about checking to and took the time to make sure for me, which I also really appreciated. I will definitely be going back!🙂 I also really like the red velvet cupcake, which I included a picture of. The regular gluten-free vegan birthday cupcakes were good as well. Also, I couldn't believe that they were able to do the vegan sprinkles as well. This is definitely my new favorite Bakery spot. Also, this is a family-owned business, and I really enjoy supporting that, and they have been here for over 30 years. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for authentically vegan options. 👍💪
Love the cake. I really enjoy their cake. I wish they offer more custom design for the cake. Beside the cake, I like the tamales, empanadas (love the savory ones) and the bake goods. Let’s not forget enchiladas, I don’t remember which one I had, but that was my first time had enchiladas and I’m hooked. Going there only when ordering birthday cake, and treat myself a lunch there.
During our visit from out of town, this restaurant quickly became a favorite. The vegetarian Mexican food was solid, and the ambiance was peaceful, with friendly staff. Our orders were quickly taken, and there was minimal wait for our food. The portions were reasonably sized for the price. We also had some gluten-free donuts, which were surprisingly good (gluten-free can be hit or miss). Highlights from our meal included the mole enchiladas, vegan enchiladas, and flautas. Definitely worth a visit!
A must-visit for vegans in Austin. They have plentiful gluten free options for any time of day and their entire dessert selection is vegan and DELICIOUS. The environment is relaxed and you can easily spend hours here without feeling rushed at all. So happy I found this place. A hidden gem!
Great place, food is good. Please be aware that gluten free pastries are not celiac friendly. I ask and they told me gluten free pastries are made in the same oven and stored together with gluten items. If you are celiac as mee I think is important that you know this to avoid a rough time. Stay safe!
Ppl won’t like me for this but this review is specifically for GLUTEN FREE ppl who also need vegan or EGG FREE pan Dulce or desserts/pastries. I’ve been hitting up these guys for near a decade for their food, but more so their Mexican pastries. They do have tons of vegan options and a pretty decent variety of gf. Starting with the cookies that arent fresh and they usually always have packaged right when you walk in are the two different types of pan de polvo. The powdered one tasted more traditional but still off, and the price was very steep ($12). The grossest thing tho was asking abt the shelf life;the girl @counter told me they last a very long time and don’t really expire. Escue mi señorita? The heart shaped cookies they have on the counter for Vday are pretty tasty and seem to be fresher. They always have some day old things on the counter @ 1/2 price and for the most part things I’ve selected have been tasty and still fresh enough. However this last time I went in, I picked the cupcakes, red velvet and confetti, as well as regular priced goodies :a pumpkin empanada ($6) and choc. Chip scone. When I tell you these were all absolutely horrible, that is an understatement. The cupcakes were so dry and crumbly I couldn’t eat more than a bite, had to give the rest to my dog and throw away the other ones. The empanada tasted like it was more than a day old and was extremely dry w/the pumpkin being gooey like it was fermenting. The scone I forced myself to eat but just had this weird flavor to it. This was the first time I’ve been this grossed out over my purchase of pan Dulce from them. I have stayed away from their regular food bc it never tasted good to me. Their tamales are hit or miss but decent if you’re vegan and don’t have any other options. But this….unacceptable at the prices they charge. I know there’s practically NO option here for good vegan &/or gf pan Dulce pero this isn’t it.
I stopped to cool off after work and was thrown out due to “if you’re not ordering something then leave” no attempt to offer me any deals or suggest anything. Ive eaten here before so I was debating a coffee. ( I will never step foot in this place again .) I would’ve taken a suggestion for something to buy to drink because i was so flushed and hot I felt like i was gonna pass out. I needed a second to collect myself from the heat and was only met with an aggravated tone and annoyance, only to be asked to leave and given the feeling that they didn’t want me there simply bc I wasn’t looking at the menu. Doesn’t seem like they want anyone there then bc it was dead. I work for the city and that just sucks that there’s businesses that genuinely don’t care about the well being of PEOPLE. Even something as simple as water and shelter, we offer people within the city. Wasn’t asking you to give me everything on the menu for free. Just simply shelter. This business does not care for people. But money. And that sucks. Especially since you’re a health store. Good to know where yall stand within humanity at this time. “The manager said ——“ your manager is what’s causing no one to come in at all. The stores been the same for idek how many decades. We’re evolving. No one cares for a business that doesn’t do the bare minimum morally. Especially in times like this. I can’t wait for yall to go out of business. Your brand about importance of health and not prioritizing the needs of humans is hypocritical. I hope your workers can find some work after this when you get bought out.
