The Well Austin Reviews
The Well was one of my favorite Austin experiences! It’s so hard to find a restaurant that accommodates more than just one dietary restriction. This is THE place to bring that guest that you feel like can never find anything to eat on the menu without customizing it. We desperately need more restaurants with dedicated gluten-free kitchens or fryers. Our server was such a sweet guy, and he was super relatable. The drinks were good but pretty pricey. A $20 cocktail is the norm in Austin, but I hate to see food menu items cost less than some drinks. I can’t say enough about the beautiful atmosphere. Top notch seating, excellent lighting, vibrant plants, open layout. I highly recommend!
Delicious Wagyu steak, wish it was a bigger portion though. Chimichurri sause was one of the best I've had, so flavorful and fresh. I also got bone broth and it was good but a bit too fatty per my taste. My friend got a salad with chicken and loved it, so fresh and tasty and really good portion. Ambiance is very cute with indoor and outdoor seating available.
This place makes me feel at home! I can't rave enough about how great the staff is and how delicious the food is as well. I had made a reservation here and unfortunately arrived late, but to my surprise, the staff was so accommodating and allowed us to stay, wait a bit, and then sat us at the perfect table with the best waitress. Chelsea catered to our every need, allowed my friends and I to have a deep conversation with minimal interruption, and was just the absolute best. Thank you Chelsea for treating us like friends, suggesting a great dessert, and thank you The Well for always being an amazing restaurant. See you next time!
I had a super healthy meal of steak and eggs with potatoes, and it was absolutely delicious! If you’re in the Austin area, I highly recommend checking it out.
The Well has been one of my favorite Austin restaurants for years. Their locations are beautifully decorated and every dish is delicious, healthy, and made with the highest quality local and organic ingredients. The staff is wonderful with accommodating dietary restrictions and I always feel safe dining here with my food allergies. This is a go-to downtown friend catch up spot and date night treat. The Well is consistently great for happy hour and also has a solid brunch menu. There are even to go items, so there really is something enjoyable for everyone.
The Well Restaurant is one of those rare places where healthy food actually feels comforting and satisfying, not restrictive. They’re very well known for clean, high-quality ingredients, and it shows in every dish. There are many gluten-free options, the service is thoughtful and warm, and the ambience is calm, welcoming, and elevated—perfect for both lunch and a relaxed dinner. My personal favorites: The steak and salmon tartare. Brussels sprouts and salmon dishes—honestly, everything I’ve tried has been consistently good Their homemade potato chips deserve a special mention. I’m usually sensitive to potato chips and often break out, but these are made in such a clean, healthy way that I had no issues—and they’re delicious. That says a lot about their quality. For lunch, I absolutely love the chicken salad sandwich—it’s filling, nourishing, and never heavy. Drink-wise, the Hibiscus Martini is my favorite, and if you don’t drink alcohol, the Matcha Fizz is my choice. The only note: their cheeseburger is prepared in a very healthy style. I personally like my cheeseburgers juicier and more indulgent, but I know many people will love the lighter, cleaner approach they take here. Highly recommended.
The Well in downtown Austin is an absolute gem. Their organic, grass-fed steak is consistently delicious, and their farm-to-table approach truly never misses—you can taste the quality and intention in every bite. The lavender matcha and blue matcha are outstanding (OMG, so good), and I absolutely love their sofrito lentils—comforting, flavorful, and unforgettable. This is one of my favorite places to study, read, and write music. The beautiful bohemian-style patio creates such a calm, inspiring atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The servers are incredibly sweet and welcoming, and the service is always top tier. I highly recommend The Well for anyone who appreciates clean, thoughtfully prepared food, great drinks, and an inviting space that feels good for both the body and soul. 🌱💫
We have eaten at this dedicated GF restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. The service is always good and the food is amazing. Tonight, we had dinner on their dog friendly patio. They use avocado oil for many of their meals, and they were able to easily accommodate my avocado allergy. We had the Thai Lettuce Wraps with chicken, Spinach Pesto Pasta, Apple Crumble, and mimosa flight. Delicious!!!
My wife has issues with gluten so this place was a great find. We started with the Wagyu Beef tartare. In my opinion, this was the weakest of the dishes, served ground, nicely seasoned with potato chips. My wife had chicken tacos which she said I would not have liked because the chicken was not moist or tender. I had the salmon which was wonderfully prepared and served skin on, which was easily removed. We shared the sweet potato mushroom combination which tasty and had a bit of heat. For desert, we had the chocolate cake which was a small serving but the cake was rich and not sweet with some berries on top. The espresso martini was rich and excellent.
From the moment I walked into The Well, I felt an immediate wave of calm and alignment. The ambiance radiates an intentionality you rarely find in restaurants—soft lighting, music that moves with your breath, and an energy that feels clean, welcoming, and vibrant. This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a sanctuary for the body, mind. I was blessed to have Addison as my server. From start to finish, Addison’s attentiveness was remarkable—not just in the way orders were taken, but in the care and sensitivity shown toward my specific needs. Every interaction felt intentional, warm, and deeply human. Addison carries a graceful presence that amplified the entire experience. They not only delivered excellent service but also created a feeling of being seen and understood. For that, Addison, you are a gift to this place—may your light continue to bless everyone you encounter. ⸻ 🍄 The Food: Nourishment at the Cellular Level What makes The Well extraordinary is not only its culinary creativity but also its unwavering commitment to purity. • No seed oils • No GMOs • No refined sugar • Local farm sourcing • Gluten-free, clean, and nutrient-rich ingredients Everything here is designed to support and energize the body, not burden it. ⸻ 🌮 Mushroom Tacos – A Sacred Earth Symphony A beautiful blend of cremini, shiitake, and oyster mushrooms. • Cremini: Grounds and stabilizes the body with rich minerals. • Shiitake: Boosts immunity, shields the aura, and repairs tissues. • Oyster mushrooms: Anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, and energetically fluid. Wrapped in their chickpea flour tortillas, these tacos nourish with complete plant protein, supporting muscle and energy while staying light on digestion. Each bite felt like Earth’s wisdom woven into flavor. ⸻ 🥑 Guacamole – The Purest Green Elixir The best guacamole I have ever had—vivid, fresh, creamy. • Avocado: Rich in healthy fats, supports hormone balance and cellular repair. • Lime: Cleanses and energizes, boosting immune function. • Herbs & spices: Anti-inflammatory, uplifting frequency. This guacamole tasted alive—like it was blended with intention and reverence. ⸻ 🥒 Cucumber Lime Spritzer – Liquid Crystal Light A refreshing, invigorating drink that rehydrates on a cellular level. • Cucumber: Flushes toxins, hydrates tissues. • Lime: Electrifies and awakens the senses. • Sparkling water: Carries light codes through the body. The almonds on top provided a grounding crunch and protective energy. Every bite was ecstasy in the mouth—an alchemy of texture and frequency. ⸻ 🧬 Why The Well Matters This place is proof that food can be medicine, joy, and ceremony at the same time. • They source from local farms, supporting sustainability and the life-force of the region. • They refuse to compromise—no seed oils, no GMOs, no refined sugars—ensuring every dish serves the body’s highest good. • The menu isn’t just crafted for flavor; it’s crafted for cellular renewal and energetic alignment. ⸻ 🌟 Final Words Dining at The Well was a transformative experience—not just a meal. This is where food meets healing, where flavors meet energy, and where service meets soul. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A masterpiece of intentional dining.
Very, very nice ambiance here. Upscale without the huge upscale prices. Great lighting, seating, greenery and wall murals. Ask for a booth! Reservations recommended. We came for Sunday brunch. Our server Emily was fantastic. She took great care of us at a very busy time! The food servings were adequate and the food quality was great. Lots of gluten and dairy free choices. The oatmilk pancakes were thin, but very delicious. The salmon avocado toast with arugula was a definite favorite. The steak and eggs were substantial and cooked to perfection. The chorizo sweet potato hash was very tasty even though it did not have much chorizo. The sweet potatoes, squash, and peppers made for a very delicious hash! See pictures and leave feedback if it looks good!
An amazing restaurant, especially for those with food allergies! We tried the taco flight—Chicken, Mushroom, and Texas Wagyu Beef—each one delicious. The guacamole was unbelievably good! This place is easily one of our top picks, both overall and for gluten-free dining. Fantastic service and a great location make it even better! After consulting with my date, I can't help but up my rating to 5 stars!
The Well is a trendy downtown Austin spot with a beautifully decorated interior. I went for brunch and started with the ceviche: salmon in a coconut-citrus sauce served with blue corn chips. It was fresh and tasty, but clearly meant as an appetizer rather than a full meal. I also tried their açai bowl and was disappointed—the consistency was very watery, and the acai flavor seemed overpowered by other fruits. Overall, great ambiance, but the food left me wanting more.
I usually love The Well and recommend it to everyone, but my most recent experience at the downtown location was very disappointing. I picked up an order and when I got home, I found hair in my food, not just once, but twice. I even attached photos when I reached out to the restaurant. On top of that, I ended up with a bad stomach ache and diarrhea afterward. This was really upsetting. I hope management takes this seriously, as it was not only unappetizing but also made me sick.
