Donut Shoppe Avenue U Reviews
Literally a time machine to old school Brooklyn that I grew up with! Shaikh's is conveniently located by the Avenue U station on the Q (Brighton Line) and the B3 bus. All of their donuts are homemade and you could snag a dozen donuts of your choice, including the 13th one for $11.75 (early 2026). These are your traditional donuts, not too sweet or plain, just right! Also, this is a cash only shoppe, so make sure to bring cash and share some delightfulness with your friends & family!
Best Donuts in BROOKLYN. They are 1000% better than Dunkin Donuts. They will still be fresh a day or two after buying them. The only problem is you will eat them all before that time.
Great variety of donuts. This donut shop has been around for a long time. Please make a visit. We need stores like this to stay in business.
After a week of my son talking non stop of this donut shop because he saw it through his social media and finally gave in and I gotta say they're variety of donuts is delicious and I'm a one type of donut person specifically chocolate and I love that it's delicious but not to sweet...I will start recommending and buying here instead of the competitors(DD)
A classic spot!! This is the type of place you'd see in an old movie but right here in the modern Day. Some may not like that, but I personally love it. Amazing prices!!! Like almost unbelievable, but cash only. They took great care of me and my wife and most importantly it all tasted great, breakfast, lunch and dessert
I've went to this location to order takeout, ordered online sometimes through Uber Eats and can say that the food and don't get me started on the fresh baked pastries! Everything is mouthwatering plus it's very inexpensive which I love! Where are you gonna find a dozen donuts for less than $15 that equals a dollar per donut, nowhere thats for sure. I love ordering the Jelly donuts, brownies, and the apple turnovers. By now though the service can be a little tense because either a cook/waiter who is there can be rude at times but usaully someone else (Lady) attends so that's okay.
There is something special about watching Anything Else Guy at work. When he makes doughnuts, it feels like more than baking. There is focus, rhythm, and care in every motion. The dough seems to rise differently when he is behind the counter, almost like it knows it’s in good hands. When he brews a cappuccino, the sound of the steam wand and the aroma of fresh coffee blend into something calm and familiar. His presence fills the shop with a quiet energy that makes the morning feel right. He doesn’t just prepare food and drinks. He creates a small experience of warmth and calm for everyone who walks in. Vibe check: immaculate Aura: golden brown with a calm hum of early morning peace Would I come back: already planning to!
Delicious sweet donuts i would eat them a million times, although the other food is alright but the breakfast is delicious. The seats are damaged although and it’s an old place but yet it’s good. Very cheap donuts and delicious i love this place. If you are looking for donuts and don’t want to spend three dollars like dunkin i recommend this place.
This is my go-to spot for late-night cravings. The deals are unbeatable—from the crazy donut special to the double bacon cheeseburger. I’m giving the food five stars because, for the price, it’s a solid 5/5. Let’s be real—you’re not getting a world-class burger with fries for $6.50. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the mozzarella sticks.
Nothing really to complain about with the atmosphere and service. the donuts were very very cheap for the size they give. You can get a dozen donuts for 10 bucks. Not the best donuts ever, not as sweet as dunkin donuts, but again for the price it is totally worth it. When i went there was a deal for a bakers dozen for 10 dollars
A staple of the community the place has been there for over 50yrs and continues to sell fresh donuts. I personally have never had any of the dinner food and would not recommend the coffee. Donut thoughs, very solid.
Good food and good service. The cheeseburger with fries was good, especially for the price. The bacon egg and cheese was fair. Next time I would ask for extra eggs cheese and extra bacon. The donuts are delicious and fresh. I was able to sit down and enjoy everything for a late breakfast. The food hit the spot. I would come back here again. The lady serving is nice. The cook makes good food.
Imagine you are coming home from a night out with friends and you're coming out the train hungry. I went the Shaikh's place at midnight and ordered a Quesadilla with pork(the have other options as well) took 7-10 minutes to get come to plate and would have to say it's really good. I have had their tacos as well and that's great too for a well established price. Often when I want something sweet I would choose here. Get a few donuts and we are good to go. No pictures for now but will follow up with some.
Local donut place with cash only. Good for breakfast and very cheap. I got eggs and croissant, hot coffee and end up with ice lemonade. Some of the menu on the wall isn't available because they didn't update. The charm of local place is you can experience the style of the store, how true the person is, raw reaction etc.
Incredibly rude!!! First time buying and he expected you to hurry up with your orders. Incredible. Feeling like trashing my donuts infront of him..rather paid them and walked out empty handed. Cant eat any of the donuts I bought. Feeling disgusted with his attitudes.
Let me tell you about the experience I had here a while ago. I downloaded the app Too Good to Go which allows you to grab the leftover food for cheaper. I was nervous coming in with that app because it’s not as popular here locally. When I came in, the guy understood that I placed an order with the app. He told other coworker that it was why I was there. He smiled at me and said that he will give me good donuts. Mind you there were several chocolate covered and glazed donuts on the display. I was sure he was gonna give me those. About ten -fifteen minutes go by and this guy comes out with a big bag of something. He continues to smile at me as if he did me the biggest favor or was going to give me the whole shop for free. He hands me that bag and…. DISSAPOINTMENT!!! He just gave me a bunch of plain bagels that looked so old and stale I think a homeless person wouldn’t touch those. It was absolutely RIDICULOUS. Mind you the guy was smiling. I think he totally knew what joke he was playing on me and it was fun for him to give me expired stale donuts instead of leftover glazed and chocolate ones which he for sure had. I ended up throwing those in the nearest dumpster. Since then I haven’t stepped foot in that shop and will never do. Save yourself tome and money because I’m sure when they serve you those donuts or pastries they will give you the oldest bunch first.
The service here was terrible. I waited almost fifteen minutes for two donuts and a cappuccino while “Anything Else Guy” stood behind the counter chatting like there wasn’t a line forming. When I finally got my order, the donuts were cold and the coffee was barely warm. He didn’t greet anyone, didn’t apologize for the wait, and acted like we were bothering him just by ordering. When I asked for napkins, he pointed to the corner without saying a word. It’s hard to enjoy the food when the person serving it seems like they don’t care. I’ve been to this shop before and it used to be great, but as long as he’s the one running the counter, I won’t be coming back. Vibe check: none Aura: stale coffee and frustration Would I come back: no
I had a disappointing experience at Shaikh's Place, largely due to an incredibly rude cashier. As I attempted to place my order for a couple of donuts, he abruptly cut me off with a dismissive "Anything else?" instead of showing any interest in my choices. When it came time to pay, I offered my credit card, only to be met with a sarcastic remark about my education — implying that using a card was somehow beneath him. His attitude was unprofessional and made what should have been a simple, enjoyable visit feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I left without my donuts, feeling judged and frustrated. I hope management addresses this behavior, as it truly tarnishes the atmosphere of the shop.
I went to buy the breakfast and when I got to the store I found a customer before me he was an old man with short beard. His English wasn’t perfect. I was watching Bcs I was next to him on the line . The employee there was very rude and disrespectful. The guy tried to tell him what he wanna buy but the employee keep saying tell me what you want ( he want him to name which donuts he want) but the guy couldn’t . than the old man got a very fellings. Unprofessional what he did. And for me I didn’t buy anything I went to another caffe shop
