Ethyl's is a time. The kind of time you have is up to you. It's not fancy. It's not for everyone. But if you're looking to let loose, have a drink, and dance to some retro music, there's a good chance you'll be in good company. The bar features cabaret dancers (I mean literally on the bar), and I'm not going to lie, their "Fi-Dolla" cheeseburger is pretty outstanding.

The food was budget friendly and tasty, the drinks were amazing! I ordered two rounds of the Hot Pants Punch, it was out of this world. Would have given it five stars, but the music was too loud, I couldn’t hear a thing.

Fun atmosphere and great bar food at this UES spot. There's a new French Dip Burger called the French Connection that's a must, and a Pu Pu Platter with some great fried apps that's perfect for a few people to split - plus their famously inexpensive (and tasty) Fi'Dolla burger (single is $5, double is $5) with a number of variations. There's also a great drink menu, and they have gogo dancers once or twice a week to liven things up.

This could be so good but the music is played by an 80yo man and genuinely don’t think anyone with enough energy to stay out past 10pm would recognise a single tune. Which is a shame.

Fun place bc of the live music and movies but it took us a while to get drinks when we came. There were three bartenders behind the bar but they were all actively ignoring us and just tidying up?? Checking dates on stuff in the fridge and putting foil over nozzles, it was very strange and uncomfortable for the first few minutes. There were only about a dozen people in the place at that time so it really didn't make sense to be ignoring drink orders. We also wanted to order food a bit later but since the service was so inattentive we just went elsewhere after two rounds.

Ive been celebrating my birthday at Ethyls for years. Im not too sure I would come back. I was so disappointed by the DJ on 1/24/26. The dance floor was empty, one would think the DJ could read the crowd!

Blonde bar tender is rude and seemed to go to work after a break up or something. Never experienced an attitude as random as hers. A simple no to my question of getting another drink after a fly landed in mine would have been enough. I swear im not a Karen.

Used to love this spot. They consistently play great music, disco, funk, etc., but service has recently gone downhill. Besides the bouncer who is great, staff is inattentive and rude. They are more interested in taking shots with each other and will forget your order or to return your card. A few times my tab was even wildly inflated for 2-3 drinks. I will not be returning until they get tap to pay and itemized bills.

The music is so good but the workers are sooooooo rude. Bartenders are rude, DJs are rude. Blonde, tall bartender couldn't be more unpleasant. Poor service across the board.

WARNING: Ethyls does not support drinking responsibly. The female bartender working last night would not give me a second glass of water because I “hadn’t bought enough drinks” when my husband had purchased 6 shots less than 30 mins before. A group of us went out on the UES for a friends birthday and when we got to Ethyls we all took a shot at midnight and then danced and chatted for less than 45 mins. It was a hot and humid night and the AC in Ethyls was barely keeping up. I asked for a cup of water right after the shot and a second cup of water about 30 mins later. The female bartender working last night refused me a second water because I hadn’t bought enough drinks…. Ethyls does have a 2 drink minimum but that’s only on Friday and Saturday nights. She would not serve me tap water. I eventually asked another male bartender and he served me a water after which she chewed him out. Then at 12:35 one of the bartenders comes up and confronts our group that we haven’t bought any drinks and we must leave a mostly deserted bar. My husband had bought the 6 shots less than an hour before and several others in our group had subsequently bought mixed drinks. Super unprofessional and truly lacking in tact to refuse a woman a water. What if I were pregnant, sober, or had other health complications. I completely understand drink minimums and if it had been a Fri/Sat night would have paid a 2 drink min but would never expect and find it completely out of line for a bartender to rudely refuse water in a mostly deserted bar.
