Cafe d'Alsace New York Reviews
Excellent place. The buffalo wings were spectacular, the variety of beers was really good, and it’s also a great spot to watch live sports events. I’ll definitely be back.
20 Stars! Came here after a long week at my stupid job just to chill, work on my online business and relax. The metal music was on point, and Jason the bartender was super cool — he went above and beyond to customize my drink exactly how I wanted it. Free Wi-Fi, great vibes, killer music. I'm 100% coming back to work, relax, and vibe out. They have big screens playin sports in case you are a fan or Basketball, Bakeball, , sccer, any sports, etc. 20 tvs. Great wings also.
Great bar to watch a game and do trivia! Service is great and drinks are reasonable.
Great vibes. Servers got our hockey game on with no issue. Love the mystery beers
This is me and my boyfriends FAVORITE neighborhood sports bar! The bartenders and servers are all great! The food is great! Their wings are so good and they have a great beer selection. They have so many TVs and play all the games and fights. Big PPV fights are even purchased here to watch and almost all the UFC fights. This is me and my boyfriends GO-TO bar for baseball games, boxing and UFC fights, college and NFL football. It’s just all around great chill atmosphere, neighborhood bar vibe, great food and drink selection and beer! It’s a huge perk they have Guinness on tap.
Great local spot on the upper east side for food, great drinks and a great community! Definitely recommend checking out this spot if you are in the area.
Update 11/4/22: 4 stars to 5 stars!! Craving wings again one month later.. and they can do naked wings with sauce on the side!!! Last 2 pictures are from the recent order, wings and onion rings Original:9/25/22 Was in the mood for wings and mellers popped up via uber eats and i thought i give them a try The wings itself were really good but the buffalo sauce was slightly salty Idk if they do naked wings but i think naked wings with a buffalo dip wouldve been better for me. Chicken caesar wrap was good too!
Epic spot to play pool, good food and amazing staff! Love this spot. Most welcoming spot in the UES.
Great spot to grab drinks, bar food, and shoot some pool. The staff is great and friendly.
Great wings. Now they have a pool table and dart board. Over 30 tvs. All sports available. My favorite place to hang. Highly recommend!
Always a very welcoming environment; staff are hospitable, attentive and make you feel like you’re right at home- great vibes here! Watched my first knicks game here! Woohoo, thanks for that experience! Bonus stars for my pup, Bunny always being welcomed here too. The food is delicious, drinks are great, entertainment is offered (pool, darts, etc.) perfect for lunch, a night out, casual hang, or just to stop by and say hi to everyone! Also, great music 🤙 I’ve heard this place is also the go to spot for trivia lovers. Not my cup of tea, but my friends love it! Thank you team at Mellers!
TOP SPOT! Absolutely LOVED Mellers. We came to watched a Premier league game and had a fantastic time. The staff, the drinks, and the food are all fantastic! Highly recommended the calamari and the bloody Mary's 👌 thank you Mellers, you made our Sunday! We will be back!
Single handedly the best chicken tenders around. A great bar to catch any and all sports games with a fun and lively atmosphere. Owner is very kind and friendly. Staff is attentive and the drinks served are always cold. Can stop in anytime and it is a great hang!
Best pool table and darts. Best wings and burgers. My boys come here often to watch sports. Totally recommend. Amazing sports bar and music.
If you’re in search of a nice bar in the UES this is an amazing place! Food was delicious. Great vibe, fantastic service. Special shoutout to Rob for the great service!
Love this local place. good food and drinks. We come here to always catch a game. Had a blast here during the 2024 mets playoff run. If your a sports fan and want a place to hang out this it.
Neighborhood gem. There is something going on every night of the week- trivia, taco Tuesdays, 75 cent wings on Weds, and there’s always good music with a juke box and a pool table. Can’t go wrong. The staff make you feel like you’re at home and the vibes are always good. Anna and Rob aren’t too bad either, I applaud the way they run the place.
This bar never misses. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and on point. A fun and relaxed atmosphere for drinks and a quick meal. Definitely a go-to spot.
RW Review 1/6: I went back to this popular Alsatian spot for Winter Restaurant Week a few days ago with a group, having gone there once before for Summer Restaurant Week, and once otherwise to share a few plates during one of my usual group dinners. Compared to many other French spots, it is a bit more reasonably priced, at $45 instead of $60, and with no listed add-ons. The service was friendly enough, but we had a surprisingly quick meal for a French place, so I guess this Alsatian meal was more German than French, since we were in and out in around an hour. In terms of the daily offerings, as the menu online lists daily specials for the appetizer and main, the Soup Du Jour was vichyssoise, and the main was an Alsatian fish dish with green pesto and other things, which sounded unique, but I was in the mood for duck. I didn't bother with wine, though someone else had a glass, and for food, most of us stuck with the same dishes, except, I believe, someone got the trout instead of the choucroute. They gave us some crusty bread to begin with, which was warm and tasty. Most of us went with the Pétatou Gratine to start, consisting of a warm potato and Vermont goat cheese gratin, olive Niçoise, basil pesto, and a bouquet of mixed greens. The warm gratin was mildly salty taste with a mild goat cheese funk. and was pleasant. The olive and basil added some freshness. This was good, and a few of us used the remaining bread to soak up the remaining pesto. My main dish was the Choucroute De Canard with duck confit, duck sausage, steamed potatoes, Riesling braised sauerkraut, and natural duck jus. This version of Choucroute garnie was quite different from last year's offering, being entirely duck-focused, as per the word canard, rather than a mix of pork products. The sausage was mild, with a light snap and a pretty juicy interior. The best part was the confit, which was nicely crispy on the outside and very tender inside. The sauerkraut, as last year, is slightly sweeter than the typical German variety, as it is braised in Riesling and contains some juniper berries, which weren't the most pleasant to bite into. As last year, I was not a fan of the potatoes, as they were undercooked and still slightly hard. In general, I preferred it this year, as the duck was better than anything in last year's version, even if the dish was a bit less filling overall. For dessert, we all chose the Alsatian Brioche Mandiat with caramelized banana, coconut sorbet, and crème Anglaise. This was the highlight of the meal and was also a pastry I'd never had before. The laminated pastry dough had a light crisp and plenty of banana inside, with the sorbet being sweet but not too much. I expected the dish overall to be a bit too sweet from the combination, but thankfully it wasn't, as the buttery brioche presumably helped balance it. This was excellent, and I wouldn't mind buying a larger version for a party or something. If they charged $60 again, I probably would have reduced my rating to 4, especially given the service feeling a bit too rushed, even for my taste. However, at $45, I would still recommend them.
I went for a late lunch with a friend, I wish tables were outside already, it was 70 degrees! We both had lunch specials, and the price was great. I had the Mussels with fries, which was delicious, and the broth with leeks was incredible. My friend had the pan-roast chicken Milanese and it was divine. They had run out of the Chocolate mousse for dessert, but the chocolate Ice cream was just as rich. I am coming back, soon!
What a find! This is a stunning, well-appointed French gem that balances elegance with warmth. We were treated to impeccable service and a nice table in the beautiful back room, but the food was the real star. The Frisée Lardon was perfectly balanced, while the Steak and Eggs was both generous and savory. Special shoutout to the Salmon, which was grilled to a flawless temperature. For the quality provided, the pricing is incredibly fair. I’m already planning my next visit to dive deeper into the menu!
I had my engagement party here for 28 people about a month ago and had a wonderful experience. The staff was very attentive to all of our requests before, during and after the event, and the room was decorated fabulously for the season when we got there. They even customized the menus with our names. Our guests commented on how good the wine and the food were and the staff accommodated everyone’s dietary restrictions. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for private events for a similar number of people.
We are obsessed with this place even though they have basically no vegan options. It is an iconic spot that defines the neighborhood. From morning until night, they are full of people genuinely enjoying elevated classic dishes, great service, and the coziest, classiest atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to have date night, bring your parents, or just relax over a cup of their excellent coffee (Kobrick beans). Our server Sonia was the best; we couldn’t have asked for better service.
My wife and I make the trip from New Jersey into Manhattan around the holidays, and Café d’Alsace has become a once-a-year (at least!) tradition for us. This year didn’t disappoint for a second. From the moment we walked in, the manager and our waiter went out of their way to make us feel welcome—warm, attentive, and genuinely happy we were there. They even rearranged things to get us the table we like, which is the kind of thoughtful service you don’t forget. The food was outstanding across the board—classic, beautifully executed, and comforting in the best way. And for the quality, the prices felt very reasonable for Manhattan. One more highlight: the wine-by-the-glass selection is excellent—not just “fine,” but truly high-quality choices. Thank you to the sommelier for steering us so well. Big thanks to the entire staff for a wonderful evening, and happy holidays!
My husband and I love Cafe D'alsace. Always pleased with service, food and drinks. We just finished brunch. Our server Sobia made our brunch special with warm service and great recommendations. I had the Maryland crab omelet -it was fluffy. Light and filled with a generous portion of crab, avocado and grilled corn. Amazing. My husband had the chouxcroute garni-perfect on a winter day and one of the few places in nyc to feature. We'll definitely be back!
Excellent service. We didn’t have a reservation so they made space for us at the bar. It was fun to be so close to the kitchen and see all the delicious dishes coming out. Food arrived quickly and it was delicious! We had the eggs benedict and soufflé with passion fruit. Both were outstanding. But I would go back tomorrow for the passion fruit.
I went with some friends and the experience was wonderful. The food was super fresh, beautifully presented, and most importantly, delicious. One of the best hot oat milk lattes I’ve ever had! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a nice brunch with good friends. I’d also like to highlight the excellent service from Gabriel and Mika, as well as the entire staff for making us feel at home. All that’s left to say is thank you, and we hope to come back soon!
Cafe d'Alsace is a fantastic French restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan! I visited for the first time this week with friends, and we had an amazing experience!! The atmosphere inside of Cafe d'Alsace is warm & inviting, and the staff are incredibly kind. Specifically, Edgar took excellent care of my group during our visit! :-) Their food + cocktails are delicious. For drinks, their Smoky Paloma is SO good (I highly recommend if you're looking for something within the realm of a tequila/mezcal base). For food, we all tried their Early Dinner Prix Fixe. For a starter, their Butternut Squash Soupe du Jour was a 10/10. For a main, their Grilled Scottish Salmon was so, so delicious (I added a side of their mashed potatoes as well, which was a great choice)!! For dessert, their Homemade Ice Cream & Sorbet were excellent closures to each of our meals. This is a great spot on the UES, definitely go see them!

The food, ambience and staff are absolutely amazing! Edison, the best bartender in NYC! He's a great addition to the restaurant family. Just visit and enjoy!!!

Ordered a couple cocktails - a little too sweet. The chili martini was okay (too sweet). Would definitely just stick to the canned drinks or draft beers next time. Lots of TVs - would come back to watch sports.
First time for me at cafe. Great experience, we started with excellent cocktails and our server Laura was very friendly and gave us good recommendations about food and wine pairings. The food was marvelous, I really recommend the steak tartar and the cheesecake 10/10. I do have to add a bad comment to my experience though, when arriving to the restaurant our first interaction with the host wasn’t the best, she wouldn’t seat us at our table when clearly we had a reservation, she looked lost when looking for it, she also had a rude attitude when we were trying to talk about it. The only reason this is not a 5 star review
I came here for dinner on a Friday night. The servers and the greeters were nice and friendly. I ordered a the Hugo Spritz to start the meal. The drink was very nice. It was minty and slightly floral, and a slightly bitter aftertaste. I also got a Leaks and Potatoes soup. It was nice, but just average. The garlic croutons were very crunchy and paired well with the soup. By the way, the bread was also very nice. It was warm and crunchy on the outside. The texture was very nice. For main course, I got steak frites cooked medium rare. The steak was nice and tender. The fries were crispy. The bone marrow was a nice touch, and it was well seasoned. Everything was nice but standard. It’s very busy, so better get a reservation.

The owner has an attitude and a discriminatory behavior against me and my friend who were only trying to enjoy our weekend in nyc and play some pool. Says there is a drink minimum just to use to use the pool table and the table is horrible and unplayable.
