Artichoke Basille's Pizza Berkeley Reviews
The artichoke slice is the no joke the best pizza ive ever eaten. I dont mean to sound dramatic. If you’re into a perfect ratio of sauce and bread and toastiness. This slice is for you.I’ve had many slices and squares from top places. And i can say that this slice just can’t be beat. It leaves you with a refreshing feeling of how much love goes into the food. And that to me is quality. Great prices, quick service. Straight to the point. Give a new york feeling to it. I love it. Highly reccomend this slice.
I had the opportunity to visit Artichoke Basille’s Pizza after a work assignment and I have to say I am impressed with the pizza, service and store. First off the pizza is made in from of you so you’re bound to get the freshest pizza when you order. On top of that if you order a slice, you’re getting your money’s worth. The slice I ordered was took up two whole plates and sold for a reasonable price. Second the customer service is quick, easy, and friendly. You walk up order your pizza and off you go. And finally the store. I really liked how it had both of its doors open and you could walk up and order. Honestly, if I find myself in Berkeley I’ll definitely go to Artichoke Basille’s Pizza for a quick bite or even a whole box.
I tried both the artichoke pizza and the pepperoni and the artichoke is the better one by far. If you want a great slice of pepperoni head over to Blondie's. But the artichoke takes the cake here. Slices are massive. I'm not sure if you can even order a whole pizza. Everyone was ordering multiple slices. There's some counter space outside where you can stand up and quickly eat your pizza. Definitely worth a try and worth coming back to.
Wow, all the flavors and crispiness and deliciousness of the dough come together in perfect harmony. I bought two slices, one Artichoke and the other Margherita. Quite substantial slices and one is enough, but I ate them both!!! That's how good it was. It tastes just like the slices I've had from this restaurant in NYC. It's become my pizza place of choice!
Historic Berkeley pizza establishment highly popular with students and tourists alike. Serves great tasting pizza for a good price. It’s worth visiting if only for the memory and Berkeley student experience. Highly recommended, details to follow: [The Food] The pizza here is top notch. They offer whole pizzas and also pizza by the slice. We paid 5 dollars for a slice a pizza, which isn’t bad in California. The taste is great and the slices are large. They seem to put just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The crust is crispy, but not too much. [The Service] The employees are great. Super fast, professional, no frills. I had no complaints. You can pay cash or debit card. [The Location] The location here is wonderful. Right next to campus and other little spots in Berkeley. There’s some places to sit nearby. Parking is hard, but that’s Berkeley. No seating inside the store.
Surely the best Pizza in Berkeley! Quick and friendly staff, Opens till 2AM. Too bad they lack parking spot around the area. Recommended: Artichoke Pizza and Vodka Pizza(Lasagna Pizza) Fair priced, about $6/slice. If you come in a busy day/night, you gotta wait for your order in case they ran out of prepared slices! No indoor seatings! Accepts Card/Cash. Pizza box is $0.50 but it’s free if you buy 2 Slices
This pizza is really good. The flavors are awesome. My favorite is the Artichoke slice. The cheese is so creamy. Watch how they make the pizzas. They put huge chunks of cheese on the dough. The pizzas are displayed, pick your slice and they toss it in the oven for a few minutes and serve it piping hot.
Pizza here is how people dream of pizza ....humongous slices oozing with cheese and super hot. One slice is a meal ! A staple Cal spot for students and visitors alike. Even though the artichoke pizza is almost like soup on a slice ..its still yummalicious 😊. The Margherita pizza is always a delight. The pepperoni might be my least favorite here. But we always enjoyed AB on our visits to our son at Cal.
It’s my first time to have artichoke pizza. It is really good. The shop seems running for quite sometime because of the smoke stained tiled ceiling and classic posters on their wall. Aside from their famous artichoke pizza, they also have other pizza choices. After ordering, they will reheat your pizza in an artisan oven. I guess this is the reason why their pizza has a unique crunch. They do not have a chair or table in the shop but you can enjoy the pizza while standing inside or in the side walk. This is nice way to experience the street in Berkeley. 7 usd for a large delicious pizza is a good deal. I will visit this again in the near future.
Drove here from Sunnyvale to get Artichoke Pizza. I guess it’s worth it. It’s so creamy and perfectly baked. While waiting ordered 4 cheese margarita pizza too and it was really good !! It’s a very big slice. So if u if you’re considering that u can have 2 slices, Have a look at it and then order. Parking is hard to find though
I believe this shop is originally from the East Coast. The shop opens late, has outdoor tables and on a balmy night, a great place to hang out. The slices are large and a single slice may be enough for many. The signature cheese artichoke pizza was creamy, gooey, drippy, delicious but a little “extra” and a tad salty for me. Old folks like me have to watch our salt intake. The pizza dough was rustically nice.
Came across while in Berkeley. I was kinda hesitant to get pizza here. It didn't look very appetizing but I was getting hangry lol. I decided to get the artichoke slice..... and I'm so glad I did!! It was a huge slice of yumminess. The cream sauce was thick and very creamy. The crust was just ok. Usually that's my favorite part. My boyfriend had the meatball pharm slice which must've been good too because he ate the whole in less than 5 mins. He did say the crust was too crispy, almost like a cracker. I did get a bite of my daughters vodka Sicilian which really did taste like lasagna. I wish they had more pizza options available by the slice. Maybe it was just timing. But I'd probably stop by again if I'm in the area to see what they have available:)
Artichoke pizza was not that tasty. Nothing to write about in terms of dull crust and overly salty and fatty filling. If you are going for it, try another taste probably - I didn't try but margarita looked better.
I know I'm supposed to get the artichoke slice, but the vodka sauce was calling my name. It's okay, definitely indulgent and saucy - I can just imagine how hard it would hit after a night out. The pizza crust is exceptional mid but it is the perfect vessel for the amount of sauce on top. Very large slice but still overpriced imo
I don't know why but the Hispanic guy in his 40s that's always there serving people seems to give me a hard time every time. I noticed he told the girl behind me to have a good night, but for me only thanked me after I said it first, and did not charge her for a box when she asked; I on the other hand had to pay like $0.70 for the to-go box. I came in really nice and even tried to make conversation when there was nobody as it was a slow night. I did not forget he had the same demeanor towards me last I came years ago.
