Caffé Strada Berkeley Reviews
A favorite coffee shop of ours that we've been going to for years. When we are in town we always make it a point to stop at Cafee Strada's to enjoy one of their hot beverages. Today Sophia helped us. she did a wonderful job. She made sure our drinks were made to perfection. We ordered a hot chai, a cold caramel frappuccino and a hot mocha.
Two months ago, my friend and I came here and got drinks and sandwiches. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly. The beer was really cold and tasty. The staff were nice, the place was clean, and overall it was a good spot. It felt like the kind of place you can easily make your regular hangout.
📌Seating: While there are numerous tables, especially outdoors, it can get crowded during peak hours, particularly when classes are in session. Finding a seat may require some patience. 📌Power Outlets: Some visitors have noted that while there are outlets available, they can be limited, especially during busy times. It's advisable to bring a portable charger if you plan to work for extended periods. ⚠️ Considerations Only Halal food is (chicken Panini) 💐Otherwise Great coffee spot near UC Berkeley with a chill vibe. Delicious espresso drinks — the Iced Strada Bianca Mocha is a must-try Cozy indoor seating with large windows + charming outdoor patio with string lights Perfect for studying, casual hangouts, or people-watching Can get busy during peak hours, so seating might be limited Friendly staff and relaxed, community-focused atmosphere
Charming café with indoor and outdoor seating. Consistently good espresso, good chai lattes, efficient service. Open until midnight and early is a big plus.
Walk by it everyday, and the outdoor area is number one! Very very quiet corner by comparison, trees, clean, everything you could want menu-wise. But I don't have time to sit around in public, and the beautiful women make it impossible to concentrate anyways.
The location of this place makes it a perfect place to catch on the vibe of this university town. For most of the times this place has lot of traffic but it has lot of sitting indoor and outdoor to sit down and work. Regular black coffee tasted reasonably well and had a smooth yet bold texture. Blueberry scone tasted good and wasn’t overly sweet.
My friend at Berkeley frequents this place a lot so he brought me here when I came to visit. Service was very friendly even with a confused customer. The layout of the cafe is organic feeling but is still orderly and has plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor seating with lots of greenery it looked amazing. I ordered a blueberry Danish, a ham and cheese panini, and then a chai latte. The panini bread was crisp on the outside fluffy on the inside with a satisfying melty filling. Chai was not that strong but it definitely doesn't have the overly milky taste a lot of chai lattes have even from some Indian restaurants I've been to. The Danish was pleasant. The environment is very conducive to meeting people or studying alike assuming you're someone who can study with the cafe and pedestrian buzz. Lots of dogs come in and out they're very cute. People from kids to the elderly were gathered. My friend had to stop me from buying a tote bag preemptively and told me if I liked the food enough when I come back I'll get the bag to represent. I'll be getting that bag the next time I come to Berkeley at all costs. Love this place.
Stopped here while my daughter was at a lax camp at Cal, Berkeley this reminded me of cafes in Paris and Italy so I gave it a try, Happy I did! Great atmosphere plenty of seats, patio was serene. The cappuccino was the correct size served in a ceramic cup froth was just right, espresso was well brewed. The balsamic chicken caprese baguette was delicious! I had it heated and the goat cheese was lovely! If you're ever in the Berkeley area and enjoy grabbing uno cafe con comida do it here! I'll be back!
Super chill spot to grab a coffee or some snacks. There are plenty of seats and spaces outside and everyone seems to be enjoying a good, quiet time here, reading, chatting, working. Also kudos for their long opening hours everyday. I had a cappuccino and a brownie before going up the hills, the prices are fair and service was fast and friendly.
The food was piping hot, freshly made, and you can tell it was made with intention. My coffee was a bit bland but they had a station to alter your coffee to your taste which definitely helped. Workers were super helpful, and the gentleman that handed me my breakfast sandwich was really kind. Overall, delicious and I’d mainly return for their breakfast!
Most of the seating is outside; there are heatlamps, though some spots are still a bit cold at night. Love that it's open late though. Had a hot spiced cider and a blueberry danish, this was just what I needed after a hike
Hey friends! This review is about sustainability only. I so appreciate your attention to detail when it comes to how folks here can use reusable mugs, and also limit their impact on the environment via plastic pollution. The real silverware, the real glassware, the real mugs, the real spoon for the bowl of sugar, and the recycled napkins are an excellent touch! That said, I was a bit disheartened to see how many people were enjoying their coffee to stay, but in to go cups. I understand that these to go cups might be compostable. But a quick glance into the recycling and trash bins shows that there is no delineation between the two. I wonder if there are ways that the barista can work clearly articulate the for-here option, by asking if people are staying to work or meet a friend. I was also a bit disheartened to see the sale of plastic bottled water here. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastic that we try to recycle does not actually get recycled. But rather ends up in landfills, oceans, or burned in incinerators. By now, there are tons of options for at least better water. Maybe aluminum canned? Thank you for considering my feedback. All in all, I was impressed by your Sustainable offerings. Just would love to see some better communication to folks dining in, who would be able to skip the trash made entirely. Thanks again! Lovely courtyard too.
There are many seats, but the number of seats inside of the store is limited. There are heaters outside but it’s still very cold if you go there after sunset. I always order smallest size, but the smallest size of this cafe is bigger than other cafes’ small size. The staff members are kind. This cafe opens until midnight, which is amazing. Iced matcha latte was good!
Strada has a lovely and lively patio that is iconic for good reason, but their coffee is often nothing more than the price of admission to that space. I've had good coffee here, but it's inconsistent, never particularly great, and it can hit some pretty low lows. You should absolutely come here, it's a campus landmark! Just consider their non-coffee selection :)
Cafe Strada in Berkeley: Hot Chocolate That Didn't Live Up to the Hype If you're searching for the cozy cafe to spend a weekend afternoon in Berkeley, Cafe Strada may come up on your radar — but don't get too excited about the hot chocolate. Despite all the hype, it didn’t quite deliver the rich, indulgent experience you might expect from a café with such a strong reputation. The chocolate was decent, but nothing extraordinary. The café, though, is a bustling hub of activity, especially on weekends. Expect to find it packed with students and those just chilling with friends. The ambiance is laid-back yet vibrant, making it a spot to catch up or get some work done. A friend introduced me to this spot, and while the crowd may be overwhelming at times, the environment has a certain charm. It’s a lively place where you can soak in the energy of the city, but if you're looking for solitude, you might want to come during the quieter hours. So, if you're in the mood for a bustling atmosphere and a place to hang out, Cafe Strada won’t disappoint. Just maybe skip the hot chocolate and try one of their other drinks instead.
I was really surprised at how bad this place was. Kinda figured that you can't get away with that in Berkeley anymore. Cappuccino was not good. I would say on par with a vending machine. Thin extraction, over roasted and no latte art. So milk foam, just lots of silly foam, not mixed foam and coffee. It was $2 less than I would normally pay and still not worth it. If espresso based drinks are you thing, this is not your place. These aren't baristas, they are operators. They take orders and push buttons. They don't know what it should be, so they don't know they aren't making it. I also ordered a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast burrito on a spinach tortilla. Honestly, not really sure how you can mess up this most basic of breakfast food. Taco trucks crank this out to perfection and they are using a kitchen inside a truck! Tasted like it was made from powdered eggs, the cheese seemed like a sauce and the whole thing tasted like it was frozen and then microwaved. The bacon looked more like warmed deli ham, and oddly, the spinach flavor in the tortilla was extremely pronounced—in an unpleasant, overwhelming way. Now, if you get a pastry and some black coffee and you get a nice day and you sit outside, then you could have a nice experience here. Just set your expectations low, like really low, and you can enjoy this spot. If not, keep looking. Lots of other great coffee and food options not too far away.
