Best and most affordable deli sandwich in the area! $9 for a filling sandwich! One of my go-to’s for lunch. I’ve tried many of the deli sandwich places around southside and this place not only tastes the best but it’s also by far the cheapest. I love the pepper turkey and Dutch Crunch roll!

I went here with my brother, who'd frequently order a sandwich from Cheese n Stuff when he was a student. The Poor Boy sandwich, which has since been renamed, was his favorite, and I can reaffirm that it is delightful. Great sandwiches, a fair price, and conveniently close to campus.

This place WILL have a large lunch line, so either get here early/late or be prepared to wait. Fantastic sandwich deals. I personally like the crab salad sandwich. This place is a bargain. And better tasting than Subway. My only complaint is that they close too early.

Just want to add the owners are so genuine. Yesterday, I went to buy an apple. Since it was a small purchase late in the day, they said, "go ahead and just grab one". It just strikes me that they are sincere members of the Berkeley community (which means a lot to me as a Cal grad). Cheers, Cheese 'N Stuff!

Try the pasta salad if you’re not a deli sandwich kind of person!!! Sam and his fam have been feeding me for over 30 years since i was a student at Willard. Now he feeds my 12 year old son and treats him like part of the family, the same way he always has with me.

Best sandwiches in Berkeley hands down. Super tasty, fresh ingredients, made super fast. Sandwich prices hover around $5 or a little less.

Sam, you are an expert at creating community. And sandwiches! That fresh roasted turkey with cream cheese, cranberry sauce and avocado is a masterpiece! Thanks for being such an integral part of the Berkeley/Cal community and for treating me (and everyone else) like family in your shop.

I’ve never been, but my gf (a Cal alum) raves about it! Apparently all the athletes circa 2012 ate here, Nathan Adrian, Jared Goff, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Kidd, etc. Highly recommended (by her, and me someday)!

Absolutely one of the best places near campus to grab lunch. The lunch rush is a bit crazy, but they do a good job of keeping the line moving. It's definitely also one of the most affordable sandwiches around Berkeley, and they have really great vegetarian options as well (veggie and falafel).

great sandwich place. super nice employees with great service!

Affordable and delicious! If theres anything I can recommend it’s the chicken pesto sandwich on Dutch crunch. Their sandwiches are big, so unhinge your jaw maybe before you go in for a bite. Staff and service is friendly, nothing out of the ordinary. Counter service, know what you want before you step up.

Great sandwiches at an affordable price. Run by a very dedicated and caring owner and staffed with skilled workers. Cheese and Stuff has been nothing less than a saving grace during my time at Cal.

Nice place held back by bland food. Went there on shift expecting a nice meal after call and while it was decent it just isn't my cup of tea. Also it feels like my turkey delight had no cheese.

Good food and decent portions. You can eat lunch including a drink for under $5 any day. They accept Slyde, making the food even cheaper here. They do charge a $.40 credit card transaction fee.

Staff is friendly and it is in a good location and offers very competitive prices. I got an upset stomach after eating the falafel sandwich however (which I chose to avoid high-impact food poisoning items) -so as much as I would like to, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

The sandwich is OK, got pastrami and thought it was lacking in flavor, had little meat and overall lackluster. You have to ask them to warm up your sandwich even if they are a “hot sandwich”.

Editing my review, sadly. I love this place, it has a great atmosphere and food. Unfortunately the last two times I was here the sandwiches had a strange aftertaste almost like bleach. Both times I got sick. I hope this was a fluke, and I hope the problem will be resolved.

Two stars because the employees are nice, and meat aside the sandwiches are well-made. Otherwise the obvious rankness of the meats would bring it to one. They should make the case less transparent to hide the discoloration. I have gotten sick, probably from here, several times. Even if not, the meats smell and taste off, especially at the end of the week.

Couldn’t eat the sandwich. Got an Italian combo. Meats were old, discolored, and tasted off. Staff were nice.

I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on dark rye, with “everything” on it except for mayo. The chicken consisted of small cubes of low-grade meat — and all the extras made the sandwich bulge into a gooey mess, with too much mustard slathered on the bread and shredded lettuce scattering about. Since this deli has no tables or chairs, I had to wrestle with my sandwich on a bench I found outdoors, and it made for uncomfortable eating. A take-out-only deli should make sandwiches that hold together, and contain better quality ingredients. I’d gladly pay more for such sandwiches.

I thought they got my order wrong but man, that was the worst Hot Pastrami sandwich i’ve ever had. Felt and tasted like ham, & wasn’t hot at all. Apparently you gotta still ask them to make the “hot” sandwiches hot. My day has been ruined & my disappointment is immeasurable.
