Rojbas Grill Berkeley Reviews
Great customer service, owner was very nice. First time there and we enjoyed the food and friendly service.
This is my favorite turkish restaurant in Berkeley. I visited here multiple times and bringing different guest/friends, and everyone that i went with, always like this restaurant. The portion is huge, a typical american portion. I always order gyro plate with all kind of meats: lamb, chicken, & beef. The lady who owns this restaurant is very friendly, i think she kinda memorizea me since I went there a bit often lol.
Sunday 5th Feb 2023. After days of great burgers, omelette with emmental cheese-ham, dim sum, bimbimbap, crepe suzette, mex-tex, korean hotpot, le phos, vietnamese drip coffee, Florence and I walked into ROJBAS GRILL at junction of University Ave/ Martin LutherKing Jr.Ave - a small simple 18- seater Kurdish/ Med it said. But just what to order for two persons? Light one & we agreed to share. We ordered an eggplant humus w crispy pita ($6.95). and chicken skewers with salad n yellow rice and yogurt ($15.95) and small thick cuppa turkish coffee.($3.45) First of all there are only 3 persons running the eatery, Only one speaks English, that's Burhan and two in kitchen called Rostu & Adam who don't. These are the two cooks who also serves. Rostu smiles a lot. All 3 were Kurdish and so i knew it was going to be genuine fare. Because, you see i have this silly theory that food must be done by the original cast, for e.g. good dimsum must be done by cantonese and spicy curries by southern indians. Silly but works for me most of the time. This time i was right again The pittas came first, hot crispy on edges and chewy in centre, dipped in the eggplant humus twas so good and i had to resist mopping all up until the grilled chicken skewers came. Verdict? Very good. By the way Burhan told me ROJBAS means "good day" in Kurdish and his name means "proof" as in proof of a blessed person in the Quran. Do go! its at a corner unit next to Traders Joe .
I lived in Adana Turkey for 2 years and take every opportunity to try Adana Kebob when I see it on a menu here in the Bay Area. They have the best tasting, most authentic offering I’ve yet encountered. Really good! Other dishes I saw being served begged to be tried. I’ll be back. Great service, relaxed place, decent prices and generous servings!
Amazingly healthy meal! We got some tea offered to us while we waited for the food and that was so sweet
I like this restaurant it's one of my favorite, I recommend it, I love the food the atmosphere and the people working there
I ordered mixed grill for 10 at my birthday party and all my guests were super impressed by the food! I also highly appreciated the services and thoughtfulness that JR put in when taking my order. We had a great time, great food and great memories!
I'm so guilty that I hadn't walked in sooner, and I live soooo close!!! This is officially my spot now, I only eat mediterranean from here!! The moussaka, the kebab, a little bit of everything on the menu goes a long way and you don't feel bad for eating it after because its all healthy, natural, and made with lots of love!! Not to mention the service is wonderful, the server is super attentive and sweet! I am coming here every paycheck cross my heart!
Great little family run place on the corner of University and MLK right across from Trader Joe’s. The staff was very accommodating to our large group and also made sure our dietary restrictions were met. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. The Turkish coffee was great as was the service.
Food was amazing! This place truly exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to come back!
Amazing food! Delicious flavors! This food won’t make you feel bloated after you eat. The servers will treat you like royalty. They gave us free tea and dessert! No other restaurant around here does that much. I can tell they care about their business. Thanks to the owners I had a wonderful delightful night with my family :)
Love chicken plate here. It’s so tasty and worth every penny. It’s definitely worth a visit.
They were very friendly and attentive. Food was awesome and good portions.
Delicious wraps and lentil soup. Amazing service!
the food was super fresh and i LOVED the spicy tomato-y sauce that’s free at the table. really delicious. i had the chicken gyro plate. highly recommend.
Great place for lunch in UC Berkeley area. We had Falafal and Adana (ground lamb Kabab) Plate. Food was delicious with generous portion size. Adana tasted like the lamb version of Koobideh. Falafel came with delicious ‘pickled beet root’ salad. Pita was on a dry/hard side. Hospitality from the proprietor was exceptional. Thank you for the Tea.
Mind blown. I had the beef and lamb gyro combo place and it was amazing! Small piece of baklava for dessert. Hot sauce on every table. I’ll be back soon.
Definitely one of the best Mediterranean/Kebabs in Berkeley. I had the Adana Kebab and Salmon plate, and everything was delicious. The service is super friendly and you can tell that they put their heart and family recipes into their meals. Will be back if I am in town.
I am Kurdish from Rojhelat. This place was the best. Loved service and the food. Recommending to everyone to go there. I got Shish kebab. He also gave me Kurdish Baklava and tea for free. Amazing. I will definitely go back.
Just had an awesome Mediterranean Lunch here at Rojbas in Berkeley. Food was fresh and texture was perfect. Waitstaff was very kind.
I’ve been to Berkeley for the course and all the time this has been my go to spot for some quality food and warm cup of tea. Must Try!!!
The pita is both soft and crispy. The chicken was tender and slightly charred. The hummus was an interesting yellow and garnished very nicely. I enjoyed the food very much.
I've known the owners of this place for almost 5 years . It's a shame that this family is targeted by online trolls . Some of the best Mediterranean spots in Berkeley, they have been serving this community for very long time and are genuine friendly people. Would 100% recommend . Try their lunch lamb beef plate special .
We ate here for dinner and the food was very good. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the seating was comfortable. We had the falafel plate and the Alexander's favorite house special. Both plates were filling and we left happy. They have complementary tea and water.
The chicken shawarma wrap is so bomb. Really the best Mediterranean food I’ve had in the East bay. They serve you fragrant herbal Turkish tea while you wait also. Junior is super friendly. I book a haircut next door and make sure I always go here after. It’s like the best combo. I also had their plate and I’m a health nut so I know it’s a light but filling delicious meal always. Thank you!
We went for a quick lunch here. Food was great. Service was great. For a quick lunch, this is best for your bucks.

I love this place for the mezze platter, minus the tzadziki as I only eat vegan. They added olives for me as a replacement. I particularly love their hummus and the red beet salad. They are very kind to their customers. Its a beautiful plate! (Comes with pita bread too)
If you're looking for a place in Berkeley to eat that serves clean, fresh, homemade food made the same day, not frozen or pre-made from big food companies (no shade to anyone lol) then you need to try this Mediterranean spot!! Our office orders takeout from here occasionally for lunch, & my boss & coworkers absolutely love it. We keep coming back because the food is healthy, flavorful, & cooked well. Some office favorites are the baba ganoush, hummus, salmon kebab, salads, and the lamb meat. We also like ordering from here because we don’t feel heavy or icky after eating here. If you need great nutrients to get you through a busy day, this is a perfect lunch spot! The staff here are also very welcoming and generous.
Wonderful big portions, flavorful gyro meat, and amazing service! We were eating for two and he split the portions in half for us. He even gave us tea at the end of our meal for free. Everyone here was so friendly and welcoming.
Delicious, fast service & authentic. Small place but plenty of spaces to sit and eat. Never had anything I didn’t like here. Everything is seasoned perfectly and fresh, hot pita with our meal. The real deal!
You can taste the care in every detail the of the cooking, the perfect seasoning, the respect for tradition. This is the kind of food that hugs you from the inside and makes you feel safe and nostalgic. I m from Eastern Europe Bosnia so this dish musaka reminded me of home, thank you. The owner and the staff are just as wonderful as the food warm, kind, and welcoming, making you feel like family the moment you walk in. Their hospitality adds to the experience and makes this place truly special
It was a perfect kebabs. If you like Arabian food this place is definitely what you need. I highly recommend them. Spas dikim!!!

Recently eaten at Ronna’s Grill! I got the Alexander Plate, and we also sampled some of the Kunefe. The alexander plate was decent, though the sauce seemed like a typical marinara sauce rather than the tomato paste based sauce i’m used to. The Kunefe was 👌 with just the right ratio of cheese to syrup that made it addicting as hell. The service was warm and friendly! Food 6/10 Service 8/10
Good spot! I had an Adana and it was pretty good, but I thought the portions for the price were a little bit small and not as filling as I would have liked. Atmosphere was cute and very pleasant, and the meal came with a small cup of black tea. It was a very authentic experience for someone from a culture similar to Kurdish.
What a great little place. Couldn't find nicer people. Both the Chicken and Beef/Lamb Gyro plates were excellent, and well portioned. My photo of the baklava doesn't do it justice.
Cozy environment and good food! I went in and ordered takeout, the server got me tea while I was waiting and it was amazing. The food came quickly. The plate was good but the meat felt a bit dry, but overall a good experience!
Came across this spot one night while looking for a quick bite before most things were closing. Service was good as well as the food. Tabbouleh Salad was very fresh with a hefty serving. Chicken was juicy with ok flavor on the kabob. Fresh hummus was also a hit.

Nice people, and good price compared to the quantity of the food. However, the food itself isn't good at all. Not good taste, and it made me sick.
I’m sorry, but if you’re looking for flavorful Mediterranean food, this isn’t the place for you. I decided to try it twice because of all the reviews. I’ve had the Gyro combo plate and the chicken wrap and it was all bland. Staff is nice and portions are large, though!

Just to be Fair I didn't eat here other dishes as it was my first time and last. I ordered dolma and they brought me one less than on a picture. And this is so called spinach pie..without spinach. First I thought they mixed up my order as it looked like a hash brown. Then I noticed a bit of cottage cheese . When I asked server where is spinach, a bit later another guy brought me sautéed spinach with not cut leaves. When I started laughing he said he forget to put spinach and now he fixed it. No thanks.
