The Yard Milkshake Bar Berkeley Reviews
This was my first time here and I love milkshakes. The selection is huge where you would need to make a few visits to try a few different shakes. I ordered the pecan praline shake and it was thick enough where you will eventually need a spoon to finish. The staff is friendly and helpful with selections and I can't wait to return.
This place offers a variety of combinations for any milkshake that you can imagine. However, they are a little pricey, but definitely worth a trip to check out. Next time I will probably share my ice cream with one other person. I was not able to finish it all. They are worth the calories.
Very great place to go with friends and share a sundae or milkshake! Great selection of ice creams, fun shakes, and even edible cookie dough! They even offer cashew milk ice cream for those who need vegan options.
Walked in during the soft opening, and was blown away by the ambience. Owners were on deck and super friendly along with the whole staff. Huge amount of options from single scoop ice cream, to cookie dough, sundaes, and their specialty shakes. Ended up going with their Berkeley special, the Mango Sassy Lassi, and tasted authentic with hints of cardamom and a nice touch of salted pistachio on the edges. Lots of space to sit and hang out with friends, and store had a nice rustic look to it. Shake had Blue Bell ice cream which was rich and not too heavy and got to even keep the mason jar at the end after using their jar wash station. Will definitely be back to try their other flavors, and bring family and friends when they are in town to experience their shakes!
Amazing place! The specialty bowls and shakes are fabulous. Tasty and generous portions. The staff is really friendly and seems to be having fun. We went on a Wednesday night and the manager helped us with our order-really helpful and friendly!
Ice cream was beautiful and very delicious. The Yard has so many fun and creative options of what sweets to try here. Very delicious and me and my friend are definitely coming back! 🍦 Excellent service and kind staff as well :)
Had their cookie dough milkshake - it was absolutely incredible!! Thick, creamy and flavors were spot on! They have great vegan options as well!

If you're looking for a dessert experience that goes beyond the ordinary, The Yard Milkshake Bar on Telegraph Ave in Berkeley is an absolute must-visit. This isn't just a place to get a milkshake; it's a destination for pure, unadulterated indulgence. From the moment you walk in, the energy is infectious. The vibrant decor and the sweet aroma of ice cream create a fun, welcoming atmosphere. But the real stars of the show are, of course, the milkshakes. Each one is a masterpiece, a carefully constructed work of art overflowing with toppings, drizzles, and incredible flair, all served in a souvenir jar. The creativity is what sets this place apart. They have a huge menu of unique and seasonal flavors, so there's always something new to try, and if you are someone who needs or enjoys a dairy-free option, the Yard in Berkeley offers Mr. Dewie's Cashew ice cream as an alternative. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic, happy to guide you through the options or just share a laugh. In a city known for its food scene, The Yard stands out as a unique spot that’s perfect for a celebratory treat, a fun outing with friends, or just a truly epic cheat day. It's a sweet escape that I can't recommend enough.
Just visited this new milkshake bar for the first time and I’m seriously impressed! The place has a fresh, fun vibe and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I tried the [insert flavor, e.g., “Oreo Madness”] milkshake, and it was absolutely delicious—rich, creamy, and perfectly blended. You can tell they use quality ingredients. It’s great to have a new spot like this in town. Can’t wait to come back and try more flavors. Highly recommend if you’re a milkshake lover!

Sean was a phenomenal Manager. He quickly addressed our concerns with a friendly demeanor and smile. Thank you Sean for a great experience! First Visit BTW!!
The Yard TLDR: Overall: Fun, extremely sweet (although pricy) over-the-top milkshakes My Order: Brookie Batter Specialty Milkshake Price Breakdown: $23.90 (including tax, etc for a pricier one of the milkshake options) Portions: Enough to share one milkshake between two people Halal/Vegetarian Friendly: Not applicable, though dairy-wise there might be vegan options but I'm not 100% sure, do check on that! Would get again: I am very tempted to try the strawberry cheesecake or the oreo one, but probably would get the bowl instead of the milkshake next time. So this was one insane milkshake. After seeing pictures online of these over-the-top fantasy-esque milkshakes and realized there was a new location in Berkeley, I was very intrigued and finally made my way down. We got the specialty milkshake (mostly bc it comes with the souvenir glass that they let you clean and take home after) and I promise you this is enough for two people for sure. There were a lot of moving parts in our Brookie Batter Specialy Millshake, cookie dough icecream, a brownie, a cookie, lots of chocolate chips, a definitely very pretty dessert. This was a very sweet dessert (almost needed to wash down with water at some point) and we were incredibly full by the end of it, even when we shared it. The flavors were very fun at first, but as we continued, it did get a bit overwhelming and the tastes merged together a bit. The milkshake part ended up being a bit more refreshing than the rest of it. And unfortunately but understandably the price is quite a bit steep for the milkshake, but this was a very complex treat with lots of different components that made it a bit more worth it. The staff was also lovely and helpful in getting utensils and choosing a milkshake. Overall, definitely not trying to be a regular here (for the sake of my health 😅), but will be back to try the other flavors (in bowl form) at some point. I may add a star if the oreo one fulfills my heart's desires.

Super overpriced. The staff are nice- and I will say that they didn’t recommend the shake I got, but I got it anyway 😭. It was 23 dollars for a massive sundae thing. I doubt it’ll stay open once everyone’s tried it.
Went in for pistachio ice cream since it is all over their advertising. Found it in the last bay but they said they couldn’t serve it because it is for Halloween… got a $14 milk…shake ( lots of milk) instead. It was okay but overall left disappointed.

Their triple chocolate and chocolate fudge brownie flavors felt poor quality with too much sugar. I ended up getting the cashew based dewie's chocolate flavor which was okayish too.

The presentation was exactly as pictured but overpriced for the quality of the ice cream itself. I had the cotton candy unicorn cup which ended up being $15 with taxes. It had a very mild flavor and the texture was airy not because it was decedent but to cut costs probably a cheap supplier. It was nice and clean and cute for a one-time thing, but I'd never return or recommend it to others. Quality: Poor Atmosphere: Very empty when I went but clean Service: Neutral not welcoming or cold

TL;DR Rude staff, horrible business model, insane prices. Do not come here expectating the happy-go-lucky ice cream experience with friends or on a date. I paid 20 dollars for a medium single flavor milkshake. With barely any toppings. I came here with my girlfriend for a night on the town and immediately upon entering we were barked at by an extremely angry staff member to order using the singular soulless kiosk to order ice cream at the other end of the room. We paid the same price for a full tank of gas for a very disappointing milkshake with literally two toppings while we felt anxiously crowded by the 50 people in line behind us waiting to order on the machine instead of with a staff member. The bar seemingly offered no samples which is ridiculous considering they have a wide arrangement of ice cream flavors. Making it very difficult to even decide on anything. It was all around just a terrible ice cream parlor experience. Zero friendly communication with the staff, zero nice date night vibes, terrible terrible TERRIBLE ice cream to price ratio. I think if you are a young college student from another country you would think this is fine and normal, but as it stands - an absolute dumpster fire of an ice cream place. Instead try: Cream, Little Gem Belgian Waffles, Insomnia Cookies
