Zino Berkeley Reviews
Excellent! Everything was delicious! Service was fantastic. Ambiance was lovely. Definitely recommend! We were in town on business and found Zino online. Went in on a whim and I'm glad we did! We started with the spreads which were absolutely delicious. Cocktails were fresh and fun and interesting. Entrees were mouthwatering. I had the lamb which fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. Friends had chicken/vegetable tagine. Somehow we found room for dessert and that was just as delicious. Chocolate tart and the peach tart are a must! The gelato on top was delightful by itself.
Very nice dine in atmosphere. Waitress was exceptional. Limited menu but good was delicious.
The food and ambience is excellent. Just a bit pricer but fresh … hot chocolate is one of the best I had.
Classy atmosphere with a bar area separating the hotel lobby and restaurant area. Good selection of bar bites - and drink mean is well curated. Some nights have live music, which isn't too loud and sounds great! A nice place to celebrate anything.

I stopped in for a takeout breakfast as I headed to the coast after checking out. The ambiance and server were so warm I gained valuable travel and life advice from another customer. My avocado toast on the beach had such subtle and rich flavors, despite my mishandling of it in the trunk leading to a spill. My friend enjoyed the breakfast sandwich- it filled him up and warmed his heart.
Hadn't been here in a long time. Menu did not really read as "Mediterranean " but both of our dishes were excellent, salmon and sea bream. Really really good food. Our server Ignacio was attentive and gracious. The bar was out of some ingredients, which made the special cocktail menu obsolete… However the bartender literally came over to our table and worked out what we might like instead of our original orders, and the drinks thus negotiated were so good we ordered seconds. The restaurant was festively decorated with Christmas trees, which I was hoping for and appreciated. It was very quiet, I hope business picks up because we had a lovely experience and it's different from my usual "hot" dining spots in Berkeley where you can hardly hear yourself speak much less hear your dining companion. Our overall experience was relaxed and elevated.
Kyle was so polite and provided us with great service! The food was so good and I definitely will be coming back!
We came here during homecoming weekend, and our server Leu was very nice and attentive. We actually ended up coming back for the next night too, and got lucky and got the same server. He answered all our questions and made us feel very at home. The food was excellent and he gave us amazing recommendations of what to try and we had a very nice night.
Didn’t have any food but the service on my drink was spectacular. Server was accommodating and humble. The ambiance is very cute little hotel and it makes me feel like i’m in town for a conference. 10/10

The service is fantastic. The Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their foods. Coffee is the best and they are proud they serve San Francisco Peerless Brand Coffee. I am a huge fan now of this delicious and bold tasting coffee. The food is good. The breakfast menu is limited. They are fast with their service and the food is hot. I look forward to trying their dinners. Reasonably priced and a Mediterranean cuisine. I give the bar a Five Star hands down for their epic drinks 🍸 Marlon is the supervisor and he has many Specialty crafted Cocktails. Great service and friendly staff.

Creative riffs on cocktail classics. Tasty food dishes. Friendly and attentive staff. Keep in mind this is a large, kinda fancy, "safe choice" hotel restaurant. While the dishes have a Mediterranean angle, this is not the place that would come to mind if someone said "let's get some Mediterranean food".

We popped in at 1pm for lunch on Columbus / Indigenous Peoples Day. Atmosphere is clean and stylish, but our chairs were more designed for slouching and drinking cocktails than eating. There were only 6 people in the restaurant with 2 waitresses and service was slow. The food was what you would expect from a restaurant in a hotel: nice presentation, priced more than a comparable local restaurant and with average food. It was filling and edible, but I would not recommend it to friends or locals.

Stopped in for a cocktail and a small bite, and there was no bartender :/ The poor barista did her best, but is definitely still in training. The salad was decent, but there was a hair in it... This place has potential.

This restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere and a fantastic location. However, we had to wait about an hour for our meal, which was a relatively simple chicken salad. The waitress seemed overwhelmed, possibly due to the catering event next door. While the ambiance is great, the prices are pretty steep for the portion and quality of food we received. Overall, the atmosphere is a highlight, but the service and value could use some improvement.
Everything about this place is absurd. It took far too long to be seated, with three individuals waiting to dine alone and multiple employees briskly pacing by smiling and ignoring us. I’ve worked in many restaurants and this was hardly a busy one. I finally got a seat at the bar and it took another 10 min just to get a menu. Then I had to stop a server in her tracks to place my order and she seemed completely bemused. I ended up getting something I didn’t ask for (a salmon bagel instead of the salmon Benedict). I ate it without at first realizing. the thing had zero flavor. or rather, it tasted only of pickled onions. By the time i realized it was not what I ordered after going over to the host stand and reading the description, I had finished it. they said it’s a common mistake (so mistakes are common here??) , and she took my cappuccino (which was absolutely disgusting) off my bill. Forgot to mention that 2 eggs any style costs $21. Even in this economy with the price of eggs that is an absurd price, especially for how unremarkable the service is.

Never in my life have I had a vegetable omelette like this! I’ve dined all over the country and internationally, but this experience was disappointing. First off, the waitress seemed stressed, incompetent and unhelpful. After waiting over 40 minutes for the food, I had to ask about the delay, only to be told there was a mix-up, and they were trying to make it as quickly as possible. Not once did the waitress apologize for the mistake. Instead, another woman, who appeared to be in charge, offered an apology. When the omelette finally arrived, I was shocked. It looked like a stinking mess, veggie omelette looked like vomit! The avocado toast was just cold toast with sliced avocado and some greens thrown on top – no effort at all. Additionally, there was no salt or pepper on the table, and no sauces were provided. We had to ask for hot sauce, and the ketchup arrived just as I was finishing my potatoes. I didn’t even touch the omelette, and the hostess was kind enough not to charge me for the inedible meal. Despite the issues, I left no tip because the service and food quality were far below expectations. It’s a shame, as this place has potential, but I won’t be returning anytime soon.AVOID! I dined at La Note near by for brunch and that is where you need to eat! Stay away from this one!

The waitresses are the main problem at this place. They look like they deserve better than working here and treat you like you are bothering them. It took more than 1 hour to bring breakfast to the room. So, we did not tip them. Then, we found hair in the food and asked them to bring new one. The new check had service charge in it to force us to tip them.
I was excited for this dining experience. The facility is beautiful and has an air of refinement. We made a reservation for dinner. We arrived 30 minutes early and asked to have a drink in the bar. The staff was clearly overwhelmed; however the restaurant was only at about half capacity. While we were told by the bartender he would come get our drink order, he did not. We waited 15 minutes and had to go place our own order. When it was time for our reservation, we went to the hostess stand where we stood for another 15 minutes without any greeting or acknowledgement. We were shown to our table only to discover that you order your own food via your phone, not through a server. Aside from the small plates, there were only 4 entrees to choose from. Needless to say, nobody in our group could understand why the service was so terrible. A restaurant with a very limited menu, only about half full and you place your order through your phone. Instead of this being the refined dining experience we were hoping for, we felt as if our business was not valued. We finished our drinks and left without ordering dinner. Not sure about the quality of food as we didn’t even get to that point; however I will never return.
We were the first people in the dining room, and 3 to 4 other tables got seated and served before our entrées showed up. it’s almost like we were shoved over in a corner so we could be ignored. Management tried to make up for it, but even in the process of trying to make up for it they fell short. Our dessert was going to be gelato, but that is taking more than a half an hour to be served.
