Sarris Restaurant Birmingham Reviews
We go for lunch almost every week. Food is consistently good. Server knows our drink order now. LOL she is always friendly but performs job efficiently. Couldn't ask for more. It is served cafeteria style and food changes daily.
Love this place! the food and the atmosphere! Home cooked meals!
Great place for lunch good food, excellent service...
Food is classic southern. Staff is friendly. Parking is good. Close after lunch.
This food is true southern cooking. Every dish is exactly like you would expect it to be at your grandma's table - accurate, generous, and delicious. The fact that they will fry fresh fish on demand every single day without an upcharge is unmatched by any meat and three, anywhere. There is never a wait. Every single person who works there is friendly. I can have a full lunch, with leftovers(!), for $10 plus tip. Sarris has apparently been around for many, many years, but I only recently discovered it. I'm so glad I did.
Food was excellent. Homemade style . And the dessert was amazing . Their version of a tres leches and but with a twist.
My job had me staying in the area for several weeks. We first visited this place on a chance finding on Google Maps. We were impressed with the quality and portion sizes of the food, so we visited several more times. Every time it has been good! The atmosphere is outdated, but I don't mind that when the food is good. Service was always great, friendly, and quick. Special mention to Heather, she's a peach!
Always a great meal here! The service is awesome! If you haven't eaten there you are missing out!
One of my three favorite steam table restaurants in the area. The food is always fantastic and the service leaves nothing to be desired. Very easy to get to from the 31st Street exit off of I-59/20, and an easy way to get a good lunch in a short amount of time.
Food and service is always good. Staff is always welcoming and friendly. Just good home cooking. Banana pudding is the Best! I've never had anything to eat here that wasn't good.
Every time I come it’s always on point, and each day of the week they’ve got different options. Today I had their Chicken Parmesan and I suddenly realized after my 3rd trip I still hadn’t reviewed them yet. Each of their sides is delicious but the mashed potatoes are the best I’ve personally had in my life!
The food is always so delicious. The service is awesome. Sandy is the best 😊 All the staff and the owner are friendly and conscientious. They care about the quality of their food and that patrons have an enjoyable experience. The dining and serving areas are always well maintained. I always feel like I am eating a great meal with family. Having lunch there is a real treat!
Delicious and fast stop for lunch! The atmosphere is very laid back and the restaurant was clean. I had the chicken parmesan which was delicious. The mac n cheese, green beans and banana pudding were also great. Fast friendly service and a never empty glass are about all you can ask for in a quick lunch stop. I will definitely stop back by when on this side of town!
Had a great lunch here today! Passing through from Atlanta to Memphis and found this online. Got turned around a bit due to the construction detours, but eventually found it. It appears to be in the middle of an industrial park, but don't let that fool you! It was packed for lunch with mostly locals including blue collar workers, business professionals, and even several law enforcement officers. Food was southern style, country/home cooking and it was wonderful! You get a meat and two veg with a dinner roll or cornbread for quite a reasonable price. Waitress was fantastic and very friendly. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because, being visually impaired, my sighted friend said I'd have difficulty navigating to the bathroom. No problems, other than that. We added it to our "must stop" places to eat when we go through the area.
Quiet little place in Birmingham, it is a meat and three. The food is good. My wife had the turkey and dressing, butter beans and Mac and cheese. The beans are cooked with bacon fat and the Mac n cheese is cooked with a lot of love. The dressing was a little salty for her but it was good. I had hamburger steak, fried Okra mashed potatoes with gravy. It was all good. The rolls oh my goodness the rolls, the rolls are amazing. Definitely will be back. With a drink I was $15.75 a person.
Kinda just your average, run-of-the-mill meat and three, only more expensive than some that are better. Came in to try lunch and asked the lady behind the counter what their meals consisted of (asked her if meat and 2 or meat and 3). She said, "It's whatever you want," like conversing with me was burdensome. Could've alleviated some of the tense repartee if there was any website or online menu for this restaurant whatsoever. I would've known what I wanted before coming in, as with other restaurants, if that were the case- but it isn't. So I pick up a piece of some of the most delicious cheesecake ever (the only reason it was a 3 stars and not 2), and I ask her for the stuffed bell pepper, mac n cheese, green beans and okra. By the time I get to the okra, she's already filled up my entire to go box with the meat and other two veggies (veggie and starch, anyway). So last minute, she says, "the okra's $5 extra." Um.... Ok? That's why I asked if it was meat and 2 or meat and 3 in the first place. If I'd known, I would've gotten the okra and green beans and foregone the bland mac n cheese, but I really wanted okra so I said whatever. I got the cornbread for my bread selection and it was buttery but also completely bland. Not sweet or savory or spicy or anything. Just buttery. All in all, the stuffed pepper and green beans were so-so. The okra was pretty decent. Mac n cheese and cornbread were super lackluster. And the cheesecake was superb. But for $25 for a cafeteria style lunch in a bad neighborhood and I didn't even get served cause it was to go? Nah. Once is enough. Maybe the one in Pelham is better, but this one ain't it. The weirdest part was when I was leaving, the older guy who checked me out was super awkward. I gave him my card, he ran it, gave it back to me, and a receipt came out. But he didn't give it to me (either to sign or to keep). He just stood there oddly glaring at me while I waited for my receipt with like 4 other customers waiting impatiently behind me. Finally, I was like, "Um....do I need to sign something, ooooor....?" He asked me if it was a credit card and I told him it was a debit card, to which he replied, "You don't need to sign anything; I trust you." Ooook, well maybe I still wanted my receipt which is why I stood there waiting. It was just a super unnerving interaction.
Ive stopped by couple times lately to make sure I'm not imaging things!! The guy that takes money, lady that serves the food, matter of fact, ALL Employees needs customer service classes, that should include treating all customers equally!!!!! THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!! My fpod was not too warm chicken livers, fried okra, peas
A very average meat and two sides restaurant. If you are hungry and pressed for time, it will get the job done. Just don't expect to be blown away. I recommend the mac and cheese, brocolli rice casserole, and cabbage when it is available.
Very outdated place, lacking customer service. I got my plate to go as the booths were small and very old, place looks like it's never had a makeover in 50+ years of opening. The food was not the worse I've had or the best. My mashed potatoes was the texture of almost soup and very salty, and I actually like salt but this was way overboard. The salmon croquettes was burnt on the outside so you could taste it. The macaroni was greasy but tasted It fine. I truly regret spending $12 on the plate
The waitress Sandra told me I complain everytime I come in and this is my first time here in 2025.
