Perfect fondue experience. Staff was amazing and helpful. The place is small so be prepared for that but be ready for a great meal.

The flavors here complement each other perfectly. The service staff was properly attentive. They offer quality with proper attention. The freshness of ingredients is noticeable. The place exceeds expectations.

Beautiful, quaint, gorgeous, and fancy, I LOVED Taureau. I've had fondue in Switzerland and it wasn't nearly as good as this. My friend and I did the Prix Fixe option, which is a three-course fondue meal of cheese, meat, and dessert. My ONLY negative was that our service between courses was extremely slow. It took a good 3+ hours for us to have our full meal. But in good company and amazing food, it was still well worth it. For the first course, we had a truffle oil cheese (pictured) that was just spectacular, with a side of salami and their unlimited croutons and salad. The second course we had filet mignon and pork tenderloin that you cook briefly in a broth of your choosing (we chose the red wine broth). If you can, I'd get two servings of the filet mignon because it is SO GOOD. And for the third course, we had dark chocolate fondue with an array of marshmallows, fruits, and cake. Absolutely amazing. Their house Bordeaux is also very good if you're a red wine lover like myself. I'm definitely planning to take my boyfriend here should we ever make a trip out to New York in the future.

Nice place. Fondue is good but the sides and meats could use some seasoning. Some dry rubs for the table would be nice.

We visit here everytime we make it to the City. The truffle fondue is the best. I also recommend trying the bacon in the chocolate, yummy.

This restaurant is superb! Food is so tasty and quality meats and cheeses. The owner and chef is there and out and talking to you and asking how everything is. All of the staff is amazing. Definitely will be back!

My fiancé and I went here for the first time on my birthday and recently returned for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance is cozy, romantic, and intimate - a rarity in the city. Service was great, the servers are attentive without being overbearing. All three fondue courses were delicious. We ordered a bottle of the house bordeaux, which paired with the meal well. All of the cheeses sound delicious, but we got the swiss - and it was dreamy, definitely order some apples to go with it. The steak was tender and full of flavor, we also loved the dipping sauces. Of course, the chocolate fondue was fantastic, we ordered the dark chocolate and it was the right level of bitter while still being sweet and tasty. You can order more croutons or salad for the cheese, or fruits or cakes for the chocolate, but the initial portions are pretty plentiful on their own. Highly recommend for anyone who wants fondue with quality service and a quiet atmosphere.

It is expensive to get the fondue, but the truffle fondue is incredible. The milk chocolate fondue is also amazing. The experience of eating the fondue is also unique compared to other foods

Taureau is a thoroughly unique and indulgent experience, virtually tailor-made for dates and special occasions. The meal is prix fixe because there are only three courses: cheese fondue, a broth or oil bath to cook your own meat of choice, and a chocolate fondue pot to finish. Lest this sound boring, there are ample options and customizations to each closer to keep things interesting. The service is attentive and thoughtful, and the decor is reminiscent of a side street French bistro. And the prices are almost unreasonably decent for such an unusually fun experience.

I got the Soprano with a lot of veggies and made the fillet minot with canola oil, white chocolate for desert. Croutons were my favorite, potatoes were my least. Overall a 5/5 experience

Great place for Fondue! Especially the Meat Fondue! Drinks were great and dessert and entrees were even better! Vibe was nice and cozy, not too busy. Came on a Tuesday because it was my child's 17th Birthday, and he wanted some Fondue. Prices were just right too. I would definitely recommend.

My mom and I have been searching for a great fondue spot in NYC ever since our old favorite, Artisanal, closed — and Taureau completely filled that void. It was fantastic from start to finish. We stopped in after a matinee show and were pleasantly surprised to walk right in and get a table. It was quiet when we arrived, which gave us a lovely, intimate start to the experience, but by dinner time the place was packed. Based on how quickly it filled up, I’d definitely recommend reservations for evening dining. The service was exceptional. Our waiter and the entire staff were attentive without being intrusive, and they really elevated the experience. We ordered all three fondues — cheese, meat, and chocolate. The Old Swiss cheese fondue was incredible and a generous portion. We added potatoes and apples for dipping; the potatoes were great, but the apples were absolutely divine and paired perfectly with the cheese. For the meat course, they were out of filet mignon, so we chose hanger steak instead — and it ended up being a happy surprise. I’m not usually a hanger steak person, but it was tender and full of flavor. Our waiter guided us on cooking time so we could get the perfect medium. We chose canola oil for cooking and were glad we did; another table used olive oil and the aroma was a bit strong for my taste. Even without seasoning, the meat was flavorful thanks to the herb- and vegetable-infused oil. The sauces were excellent, especially the truffle mushroom sauce — I could have eaten it by itself. The only tiny change I would have made: I ordered bread that arrived with the meat, but I wish I’d had it with the cheese course instead. Still, a minor detail in an otherwise perfect meal. For dessert, the milk chocolate fondue came with an enormous platter of fruit, cakes, marshmallows, and treats. It was so good we joked about trying to take it back to our hotel room. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. If you love fondue, this place is a must. It’s especially perfect after a matinee when the wait is minimal, but make reservations for dinner — it gets busy for a reason.

This is absolutely my favorite fondue place, even better than anywhere I’ve been in France and Switzerland. The truffle fondue is out of this world, and the chef’s idea to bake the croutons was simply genius!! It makes the perfect combination. I’ve actually read some reviews complaining about this, but this person might not know that you need to completely dip your piece of bread in the pot and stir the bottom. Fondue is made of a combination of cheeses, and each have a different density. Therefore, with every bite, you need to stir your cheese in the fondue pot to ensure you’re picking up all the flavor. Simply delicious!

This place is a staple for a great long night out, highly suggest! Always going with the full three course option which gives you cheese fondue with bread and salad, a protein course cooked in red wine broth, and finally a delicious chocolate course. The prices may seem pretty high at first and then you realise it is more of an experience than any other sit down restaurant. You actually get to share the time together with whoever you have gone with, dipping or cooking your own meal together while indulging. This is totally a different experience than getting the meal placed in front of you and you eat and leave. You can easily spend two hours here if they let you on a non-busy night. Food is great, ambiance is nice, and the price is fair. Definitely would suggest checking out Taureau!

I’ve come here twice and I have had the most wonderful experiences with my friends and family. The Truffle cheese fondue is incredible!! It’s pricy, but it’s worth every penny. I had the 3-prix fixe menu and all the fondues had quality ingredients (truffle cheese, fillet mignon, and dark chocolate). Also, the music and the warmth of the place is very enjoyable. I will come again for sure!

Some of the best food I have had in a long while. We had a party of 6 and all shared so I had an opportunity to try a bunch of the dishes and desserts. The flank steak and filet mignon where top notch and the seafood pasta was amazing. The apitizers also didn't disappoint, the escargot was the best I have had anywhere. The service always also very fast and servers very attentive. I would definitely go back and I recommend everyone give it a try!

This place is such a great zone for a diner date. The staff is very nice and not on your back all the time, the food is just amazing and the ambiance is very quiet and cozy. This is my second time there. We got with the trio fondue. Starts with a cheese fondue and unlimited bread to dip in (many options in terms of cheese you prefer) Then you can pick an oil or broth fondue for the meat (I went with the filet mignon) and canola oil and it comes with 5 different dipping sauce. grand finale with the chocolate fondue coming with cake pieces, fruits and marshmallows. This is a perfect experience for a not Overpriced diner. One last thing is they do not take visa and MasterCard so be prepared for Amex, cash or certain crypto currencies.

What an absolutely lovely evening this was. The bar + food selection is amazing, the prices are totally reasonable, and the staff were attentive and lovely. My boyfriend and I were over the moon from the time we sat down to the end of the meal. We got the Pyrenees cheese first, with bacon, chorizo, pears, and apple, and then the hanger steak in white wine broth. The space is cozy and intimate and warm. If you are tired of tiny cocktails, loud buzz, and meh dinner options, this is such a fun date night! My boyfriend is an executive chef and hard to impress, and he said it was a tremendous way to celebrate his birthday. Thank you to the staff that made a lovely night!

The cheese fondue was amazing. We got the truffle cheese fondue and red wine broth to cook the meat. If I could just go here for the cheese fondue I would since I found the broth lacking in flavor for my taste. However, the menu is prix fixe so we got the meat as well. Would return because the service and atmosphere was great.

Taureau was a nice experience however it is a little bit pricey. For just my husband and I we got the Cheddar cheese(only came with bread and the canola oil with all 3 meats mix plus 2 drinks and we spend nearly 200 dollars...sadly there no more prefix menu that you can get all 3 fondue for a certain price per person.

Pricry, but had a nice experience here. Strongly recommend the Perigold cheese fondue. The only downside is that they only accept cash or Amex card.

R TAUREAU is a hidden gem in Manhattan for anyone who loves fondue and cozy dining experiences. This intimate restaurant perfectly balances traditional French charm with a modern, urban vibe, making it a great spot for a unique meal. Ambiance: The restaurant’s warm and inviting decor immediately sets the tone for a memorable evening. Low lighting, rustic wooden tables, and a quaint, romantic atmosphere make it ideal for both date nights and small gatherings with friends. Menu Highlights: TAUREAU specializes in all things fondue, offering cheese, oil-based, and dessert options. The cheese fondue selection is outstanding, featuring classics like Gruyère and Emmental blends, as well as creative twists like truffle-infused versions. For the main course, the oil-based meat fondue allows you to cook premium cuts of beef, chicken, or seafood at your own pace. The dessert fondue is the cherry on top—decadent melted chocolate served with fresh fruit, marshmallows, and pastries. Pairing these dishes with their curated wine selection enhances the experience further. Service: The staff at TAUREAU are attentive and knowledgeable, eager to guide you through the menu and ensure your fondue experience is enjoyable. They also do a great job explaining how to use the equipment if you’re new to fondue dining. Pricing: While slightly on the pricier side, the quality of ingredients and the overall experience justify the cost. It’s an excellent value for a special occasion or indulgent night out. Final Thoughts: TAUREAU is a delightful escape in Manhattan that brings a slice of France to the city. Whether you’re a fondue enthusiast or trying it for the first time, this spot delivers a fun, interactive dining experience that will leave you wanting to come back. Highly recommended for those seeking a unique culinary adventure!

Came with my wife a Sunday evening as we had never tried fondue in the city. The cheese and meat courses were excellent. However, it is pricey and options are limited to a 2 or 3 courses per person fixed menu.

I was craving fondue and learned there are not many places in NYC that does the whole thing. Taureau was great, they accept all forms of payment even though resy says otherwise. We got cheese and chocolate fondue and enjoyed it.

Great food great customer service only complaint is I thought the wine broth was a part of the $60 for two meal the broth it self was $60 wow I wish the waitress told me it wasn’t included. However great place great experience.

The cheese fondue was decent but nothing was amazing. The bacon was very salty, so it only works well with certain cheeses. There was a lot miscommunication with the service all night which eventually got annoying. Asked for the menu and got a drink menu instead of food; fine, no one clarified. Water bottle getting low so it was taken, but a new one was never brought. Croutons were getting low and they asked if we wanted more; we didn't really, but then they took away the little bit of croutons that were left, and we had to ask for more.

My husband and I have been going to Taureau for years before when it was a BYOB and they were at a different location. I understand inflation and when prices need to be increased but seeing this place nickel and diming the customers is outrageous. $30 for cheese would get you croutons and salad. Now they are charging $6 for salad? Everything on the menu is a surcharge. Not the same anymore . Removed the pre-fix options which made sense. Love the atmosphere and very romantic but not worth the price anymore.

Q
Quack!

Fun experience but WAY too expensive. If you do the math it’s literally $70 per pot of fondue. The bill WILL come up to about $150 for 2 after tax and tip which is a rip off for just cheese and bread and salad and chocolate.

We waited for our table more than 1:15 minutes though we booked and pairs in advance. Good fondue but they were very rude to everyone and kept many people waiting for more than an hour after their reservation. Would not go back there.

I

The service here was terrible - we waited over an hour for the first course to be brought and the rest took a long time too. Our dinner ended up taking close to 4 hours, much of it spent waiting. The food was good, but nothing special, and the prices are outrageous for what it is. For 2 people, you pay about $150, and that's before taxes, tip, and drinks! We ended up with a bill of $250 per couple. Also, if you are in the private party room (formerly Zoya's), one side of the table sits on a bench, which is soft, but very narrow. Not the best place to sit for 4 hours.

We recently visited Taureau in New York for the second time and, unfortunately, it was a letdown compared to our first experience. The restaurant felt dated, dusty, and not as well-maintained as we remembered. For the price, the overall atmosphere and cleanliness just didn’t match the expectation. We ordered the fondue, which was decent but not particularly memorable. We also tried the meat selection, and found it to be underwhelming. The quality just wasn't what you’d hope for given the cost. It’s disappointing because we had high hopes based on our previous visit, but this time it just didn’t deliver. Overall, a mediocre experience and I would probably not return.

Went to Taureau for dinner last night and left feeling disappointed and ripped off. I do not understand how this place has so many good reviews. The food is terrible. We ordered the 3 course pre-fix of cheddar-monterey for cheese, red wine (which we ended up switching to the olive oil) for the meat, and the dark chocolate for dessert. The cheese had no flavor. No tanginess, no sharpness. The croutons and salad were the best part of the first course but the fondue didn't taste like anything. We ordered a combination of sides to also dip into the cheese. The broccoli and potatoes were steamed vegetables, no salt or flavor or anything. The cured bacon was incredibly tough to chew. Taureau does seem to give everyone massive portions on their tiny plates, but other than the bread, salad, and bottle of wine we had, the first course was not good. The two meats we chose were the filet mignon and the hangar steak. Again, Taureau does not skimp on the portions. The server came by with the red wine broth and told us how to cook the meats once the broth was boiling: 15 seconds for medium rare, 30 for medium, and well done beyond that. Nothing cooked in 15 seconds, in fact nothing cooked in 45+ seconds. We switched to the oil because we were having issues with the red wine broth. Again, we had to leave meat much longer than anticipated to fully cook it inside. The meats were not marinated or seasoned, just raw. The aioli dipping sauce was the only thing that gave it flavor. We probably should've left then, but kept assuring ourselves that chocolate fondue couldn't be messed up and dessert would be fine. At this point, I think our server could tell we weren't having the best time so we were poured a free glass of wine. We had the dark chocolate for dessert. It also unbelievably had zero flavor. The "seasonal" fruits were fine, pears and apples were a bit of an odd choice for chocolate fondue. It was unreal how flavorless the chocolate was. We ended up eating most of the fruit just on its own and were happy to leave. I had absolutely no issues with the service at Taureau. We had reservations, were a few minutes late, and were seated promptly. The servers were friendly and helpful when they sensed we weren't having the best time. But for hundreds of dollars, I'd expect infinitely better quality food. Again, we are so confused as to how this place has the rating it does. The food is not good and definitely not worth the price.

Place is very nice and food is tasty, but disappointing to see dogs being put inside especially with the open food. To eat fondue and cook your own food with a dog next to you shaking its fur and moving around the waiters and servers is poor health etiquette especially for customers who may be allergic
