Manuel's Mexican Restaurant Brenham Reviews
Excellent meal. Tasted like the food was prepared from scratch. Colorful dining room.
Incredible mexican food, super sweet& friendly staff, and quick service. We had a wonderful lunch here!
Love this hole in the wall place for your breakfast needs. All food is great tasting and the staff is awesome!
Table for 4, and immediately was waited on. It was Saturday night, about 6:30... Happy chatter going on. We so enjoyed being there. Our first time, and not our last. The Chile Rellenos were fabulous, bot cheese and meat... This is going to be our go to place!!!!! Heartfelt thanks to everyone there!
The staff is super attentive they gave us items that we didn't ask for because they noticed our need for them. They were eager to help and accommodating. The food was tasty and hot. The salsa paired well with everything and was great with chips. I been going to this restaurant off and on for about for 20 years it's a must a go restaurant in brenham.
What a little jewel in Brenham! A classic TexMex establishment serving all the old school classics! Their best hidden secret is their bacon wrapped, jalapeño stuffed shrimp. Served as an entree or can be added a la carte (which is what I love to do) this dish is a MUST TRy for shrimp/bacon lovers - perfect balance of smoky, crunching, hint of spice - delicious! For my entree - I had the La Villa Dinner which is a classic TexMex plate with a taco boat, queso shell, guac, tamale, cheese enchilada, and rice and beans. The beans are absolutely homemade and oh so yummy. The tamale is just the perfect amount of meat to masa. I’ve also had their flautas before - a solid choice. You won’t be disappointed!
I was passing through the town and just happened to drive by this establishment. I noticed the parking lot was full. As if that wasn't a good indicator, there were cars parking along the side of the parallel road to come eat here. Which to me meant the food must be great. My intuition was correct! Despite a very busy lunch hour, I got seated right away, drink and tostadas came out quickly. The aromas from the kitchen flowed the air making everything look good on the menu. I chose the carnitas plate and it arrived quicker than I anticipated which was good because I had already eaten half of the chip basket 😬 Now, I'm from South Texas, meaning I'm very spoiled when it comes to great Mexican food. The carnitas were the best I've ever had. Great flavor, super tender, and a chingon sized serving. The restaurant is tucked in the city but quite the gem! Very lucky locals!!
The food is authentic Tex mex. Cowboy Enchiladas and Fajitas Poblanos are our favorites.
We're a vegan family newer to Brenham and have slowly tried out restaurants here since it's not so easy to eat places. I was happy to see a vegetable fajita plate, and they were very good. I was not sure about the rice but both the refried and charro beans are definitely not vegan, but you might be able to ask for them to be prepared that way. I ate the rice and vegetables, along with the guacamole, and that was enough for me. The rice was very mediocre and could use improvement. Other than the food I liked the atmosphere, and that the restaurant was full. Service was quick, not super friendly but not rude. I don't mind that if it's quick. So I've added this to a list of restaurants I can eat at, but need to inquire further on if any beans can be made vegan. Side note - there is very little parking, so come early to grab a spot.
The salsa was made with what tasted like canned tomato sauce and had no spice at all. The server was really weird and passive aggressive and curt. Like he was irritated with us. The fajitas were good but it wasn't seasoned or flavorful. I felt like for Mexican food it was underwhelming. The manager seemed very nice though and the restaurant itself was cute inside but disorganized and dirty. I would recommend it to those that like the essence of Mexican but not the flavor.
We have heard a lot of hype about this restaurant after being disappointed with every Mexican restaurant in Brenham. Needless to say we had high hopes when we decided to eat here. The food is mediocre at best, although the service is very friendly. We’ve eaten here several times thinking it will get better, but it doesn’t! I give up on Mexican food In Brenham, we’ll just make the drive to Houston and know we’re getting something good.
I ordered Manuel’s breakfast because we love their dinner!! So we got the El Cowboy & Huevos Rancheros Breakfast expecting the same delivery of flavor and food quality. But it just didn’t live up to the same hype. I would suggest this place for dinner but not for breakfast definitely not for the price.
3 of us Ate there this past sat. We all were disappointed in the flavor of our meals. Me and my cuz both got the beef stuffed chilie relleno plate. The beef had little to no spice. Pretty bland. My mother who live here says she won't be back.
Salsa is not good. Food is marginal. Service is fair. This isn't authentic TexMex. I think if better quality ingredients were used it could be better. Cheese from a can and bland guacamole.
