Itani Sushi Broadway Reviews
The 10 piece nigiri set is an amazing deal. I added an uni nigiri and was happy I did. Itani was recommended to me by a friend and I had it bookmarked - so glad I did! I was in the area and this was the perfect quick and delicious meal I needed. If I lived closer, I’d be here all the time. I highly recommend giving it a try!
Itani remains our favorite go-to sushi spot in Berkeley. We stopped by for a late lunch, and the sushi was absolutely fantastic - it simply melted in your mouths!
I’ve been a huge fan of Hopscotch, Itani Ramen, and Yonsei Handrolls for years, and I was beyond excited to see that the same group was opening a sushi spot in the Gourmet Ghetto! Of course I had to try it with a friend 😅 We each ordered a three-course sushi set and decided on the ITSU set and the baller set. We also added some miso soups and eventually more nigiri, including their delicious Hokkaido scallops and fantastic Hokkaido uni, both of which were about half the price I usually see when eating sushi in the Bay Area, Seattle, Hawaii, and New York. The arctic char was also phenomenal 🤤 (I should probably mention that I didn’t confirm that the scallops and uni were from Hokkaido, but the uni had that sweet butter consistency that I’ve only seen with Hokkaido uni.) For drinks we both had still water, and my friend tried the iced tea. I went with the yuzu lemonade, which was delicious and perfect for the warm day but threatened to overwhelm my pallette at times. Service was prompt, generally lovely, and better than most of the service I’ve experienced across multiple states in the last few weeks (including other Bay Area restaurants). They also have different soy sauces available, and both of the ones we tried (I think it was the Yonsei house soy sauce and a garlic soy sauce?) were delicious! Itani Sushi also had a bunch of freshly made to go options that looked like a perfect option for those in a bit of a hurry or wanting to enjoy the sunshine and some fresh air in their gorgeous, shared back patio (accessible if you walk past the bathrooms and towards the back of the building). I will 100% be back and look forward to my next visit!
The sushi is really super yummy here!!! I got the maki roll and nigiri combo and it was really tasty. The rolls have a crunchy middle. Maybe crab? It adds a really nice touch. Sad that Kirala II closed and happy that it was replaced by another great sushi restaurant. It’s a perfect place to grab a quick ready made lunch or dinner.
Had the sashimi and the nigiri omakase. When we told them we were sitting out back, the chef prepared everything on ceramic plates instead of to go containers- so much better. The presentation was beautiful and the quality of fish was great. They are the sister restaurant with one in Oakland and Albany so I imagine have a strong connection for sushi grade fish. We will definitely return. I heard they may get a license for sit down bar inside which would be great.
We are regulars here - absolutely delicious, always fresh, and decently priced to-go sushi options! Not to mention super friendly and kind service. Recently they threw in an extra toro nigiri (for free) with the cutest note written!! Can’t recommend Itani Sushi enough :)
Was so excited to try this new place out. It did not disappoint! I especially enjoyed the tamago and spicy mama roll. The yellowtail was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.
Awesome experience with the order/delivery and the food was amazing! Everything on the menu looked delicious but settled on Cold Cali Noodle Salad, Nigiri Combo, Spicy Mama, Yonsei Seared Albacore Roll, ITSU Roll, Yonsei Salmon Belly Roll, Negihama Roll and the Ume Shiso Roll. All the dishes were plated very well and the sushi had very fresh fish with a perfect rice to fish ratio. I am a big fan of ume and shiso so the Ume Shiso Roll was a pleasant surprise to see on the menu and it did not disappoint! Another highlight was the Cold Cali Noodle Salad. The salad was loaded with crab, the soba was cooked perfectly and the dressing was delicious! Excited for my next order to try the rest of the menu!
My partner and I love hamachi carpaccio and came across this spot when looking for a sushi restaurant that was open on Mondays! We had a wonderful dinner here. The hamachi carpaccio is incredible and the owner also let us sample the arctic char which was also really good. The staff are very welcoming and the ambiance is really cute. This is definitely our new sushi spot and we’re looking forward to visiting again!
Amazing counter sushi spot in the food hall. The arctic char and toro nigiri was absolutely incredible. The Chef was so nice and personable and his suggestions were spot on. Definitely coming back here before it’s gets too crowded and won’t be able to get a spot at the counter
Enjoyed my first time at Itani Sushi. Ordered pickup tonight and my Spicy Mama was by far my favorite!!! Yum. The kids enjoyed their Ayla and cucumber rolls. Everything we got was delicious. Will definitely be ordering again.
Got multiple rolls to share and sample with friends, and each one was delicious! The hamachi nigiri was AMAZING, and our favorite rolls were the spicy mama and futo maki — the flavors were so complex and fresh. A great option for sushi takeout, would definitely order again!
Absolutely delicious! Been coming here for years and everything on the menu is amazing. The quality and freshness is unmatched.
Elevated takeaway sushi made with super fresh fish, and a couple of perfect salads on offer. This new spot is definitely going on regular rotation. Tucked inside the Epicurious Garden next to Chez Panisse, this new sushi counter replaces Kirala and takes it to another level.
This has the freshest fish I've ever had, is quick to-go, and the quality is the same as a fancy omakase. I've been following the head chef Jeremias for awhile now, and he's made to-go magic, with a diverse menu that has no business being this good. Unbelievable, and almost feels wrong in to-go container. Go here for lunch, but if you want a special treat go for dinner and hang out; as lunch is so busy. Order lots of fish. The hamachi kills. Pictured is the Soba noodles... perfect addition to a sushi binge.

WOW. The fish was so incredibly fresh and the staff is very kind and attentive. I didn't know what to expect walking in, and their 3-piece OG set blew me away. Will be returning!
The sushi here is better than most of what I’ve had in Japan! Extremely high quality ingredients and sushi-making skills you get o watch right from the bar. So happy to try this place out — we’ll be back soon!

Cool spot, good sushi. But the servers forgot what I ordered because they were way distracted by 2 hot girls eating at the restaurant. You have to be able to do your job and remember what people order, even with distractions. 3 stars because they forgot what I ordered. Besides that, good sushi!

Everything is good but the fish was cut too thin even for sashimi.
Had a few ok experiences but then got their Japanese potato salad and it was rancid! I had to spit it out. Their marinated spinach also tasted old. I returned those two items plus a sushi roll which I didn’t taste because I wasn’t willing to risk it. I’m really sad about it because I wanted to support them.
I waited over 20 minutes to pick up this order even though it was not a busy time. The restaurant took a long time to prepare a single order, which caused an unnecessary delay. This wait impacted my ability to complete other deliveries efficiently.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!! SERVICE AND FOOD. So came across this place because the restaurant I was going to next was too crowded and my blood sugar was super low. Decided to sit at this counter. Ordered miso soup and 3 pieces of grilled unagi. I smelled the burnt unagi as did the server whom looked at the cooks the same time I did. They served it to me anyway. I took 1 bite and all I tasted was burnt unagi and could see charred. I sent back stating it was burnt but they knew that anyway. No one asked if I wanted another or anything for that matter. The rude young lady kept her back ro meas I asked for the bill. 1 of the cooks said something to her and she turned to me and I asked for the check. Her very rude response was " YOU CAN JUST LEAVE SINCE YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT" I stated well I did eat and enjoy the miso soup and will pay for that. I stated the unagi was burnt and she rudely stated it was grilled. I stated o I've eaten plenty of unagi and it was burnt. She stated well that's how we do it here. I stated it was the worst customer service ever and left. RUN don't walk right past this rude establishment.
