Morrone Pastry Shop & Café Bronx Reviews
My favorite bakery for the last 4 years!! I’m deeply obsessed with their cannolis and I can’t find any close to them so I always end up here again. I really wish they would bring back the coconut gelato because it was heaven sent. The bakery is always clean and organized and the staff are welcoming!
Excellent service, despite ignorant customers. Wanted treats to bring home, stopped here. Ordered a giant double fudge cookie ($3)and a chocolate covered cannoli ($5). Wish I ordered more, as they were both delicious. These seemingly European customers (5 of them) were standing right against the display glass, blocking the view. Only one guy in the group had the decency to see that other customers were trying to look, but they kept standing there yapping and blocking me. Staff had to tell them to step aside and figure out what they wanted. Anyways, the cookie was worth it, but that was a tiny $5 cannoli. Still 5/5 due to efficiency of staff, and tastiness of treats. Would be helpful to have prices in display case, so you don't have to ask.
I placed an order because of chirping chicken ribs This BAKERY ITEMS ARE SOOOOÒ FRESH AND DELICIOUS, I COULD NOT STOP EATING. THANK YOU AGAIN AND FOR SUCH GREAT FRESH EXTRAORDINARY PRODUCTS. LOVE ❤️ IT. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A TRIP TO THIS BAKERY HOLIDAYS ARE COMING. DONT WAIT GO NOW!!!!!.
So many delicious pastries it's hard to decide!! I was in heaven here! They are very nice, tables to sit and enjoy if you want a coffee and pastry. We did both, ate a sweet bite at a table watching trays of delights coming out fresh from the kitchen. They have beautiful cakes for any occasion and we took home a bounty of pastries. Every bite was heaven, I'm just sad cuz we ate them all! Next visit to NY, I've got to get back here.....the cannolis, biscotti, Easter bread....I could go on but writing this review is making me hungry for more!
Delicious Italian and classical pastries, cakes, cookies, gelato all at pretty good prices ($16 ish per pound). They have limited seating and take card. They also a nice selection of coffees and teas. Our favorites were the Pasticotta (especially the amaretto/almond one), Sfogliatella and the chocolate mousse bunny. Will definitely be back multiple times to try more items here.
I really enjoyed my tasty and decadent treats. The pineapple coconut cake was moist and delicious. I also had the strawberry shortcake and a cannoli. I would highly recommend this pastry shop to anyone looking for a delicious and fresh pastry. I will be ordering from this Cafe again soon for Valentines day. They wrapped the box beautifully as well. It was a very cute and classic presentation. I felt very special enjoying my treats. Please give them a try, you won't regret it.
Stopped in here on Easter morning as it was one of the only bakeries open and am I glad about that. Friendly service and an amazing selection of cookies, pastries, cakes and pies. We bought a Pizza Rustica, a Pastiera di Grano (wheat pie), a rum baba and some Birthday Cake cookies (birthday cake flavored rainbow cookie with white icing). Everything was absolutely delicious! They had a creative "Hamburger" pastry which looked beautiful and decadent. I'd love to try that sometime (would probably have to share it with someone LOL). I will definitely be returning.
The 6+ pastries I had from my visit there were delicious, it's what I expected quality and flavor-wise though the mini tiramisu was a touch better than expected. The main critique in many reviews was the lack of freshness. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, not sure if that affected things one way or the other, but everything was very fresh. The mini tiramisu were the strongest offering, the mini cannoli were also great. The mini eclairs were nice but not extraordinary and the chocolate creme puffs were very tasty but didn't keep their integrity as they were being eaten (chocolate creme will almost certainly fall out the bottom no matter what you do). I do recommend eating them as soon after purchasing them as possible (as with all fresh pastries) since their shelf life is, fortunately and by design, limited.
Stopped in for a cappachino and some canoli. The cappachino had a thick frothy, too, but the espresso seemed a bit weak. Not bad, but notnstrong enough to garner a great rating. The canoli we had was excellent. I would have liked to try more of the pastries, and that seems to be their specialty.
This review is for the biscotti and cookies only. The biscotti were good. The quaresimali (almond bar) and double chocolate were the best. The raisin-walnut biscotti was also good; the raisins added a nice chewy texture. The almond and hazelnut were pretty plain. All tasted reasonably fresh. The butter cookies were on the bland side. I understand that they’re not supposed to be extremely flavorful, but these really just tasted like flour and jam. Also, I asked for a mix, and all the cashier gave me were jam-sandwiches and thumbprints. Disappointing, because they had a huge selection of unique and much more appealing cookies, but I guess that’s on me for not being more specific. $22/lb for the biscotti and cookies. My six biscotti and six butter cookies weighed 0.89lb and filled a small box. Overall, these cookies were good enough to finish but probably not worth a return trip.
Pastries were mid, but did what it had to do for a late night sweet treat. Took my family here after pizza late night on a Friday. It was roughly 8pm when we bought pastries and we sat down. The worker behind the counter was rude though. Totally understand that closing was at 8:30 but we were not the only people there and people were still ordering. When it hit 8:29 one of the workers rudely yelled at us to leave while opening the front door open for us. Mind you, there were a group of two who they didn’t even speak to like that. I get it - you gotta clean but trust - there’s a way to say something. Thank God I’m grown, but for an establishment in this location - find better workers, respectfully.
Ordered Eclairs through Grubhub. Found mold on the bottom of both Eclairs. They also had an “OFF” taste to them. I know Grubhub takes forever sometimes, but it doesn’t take THAT LONG. Please have your employees quality control check products before sending them out. Please look at your process for cycling out old products with fresh ones and your temp and moisture control to ensure product freshness and longevity.
I can only judge the pastries I ordered: cannoli, babà, sfogliatelle. The pastries weren't fresh, the babà was dry and wasn't as soft as it should be, but it crumbles with everything. Sfogliatella, the ricotta was dry and flavorless. The cannoli wasn't fresh, the cream was hard and not creamy. Unwelcoming staff, you could see they didn't care about the customer
Visited this place for the first time while on a trip to the area. Sad to say it will be our last visit to this place. We were far from impressed with the taste of the baked good. Everything looked delicious but maybe it’s just not what we’re used to. The only thing I liked was the cannoli. The shell was fresh and crispy and had good flavor. The cream puff I had was tasteless and the shell was hard and seemed old. The cookies we got were soft and cake like not crunchy as I feel they should’ve been. My kids had the cartocci and said it was horrible and tasted minty and ended up throwing them away and based on the description I didn’t feel it should’ve tasted minty. The service was fine and the young girl was friendly. And for the one box of stuff it was $40.
