Bay Sushi Brooklyn Reviews
Long time fan of Bay Sushi. The food is great quality and reasonably priced. I went here for Valentine’s Day and they gave me a red rose! Great food and great service!
This is the best little sushi spot in Bay ridge. It's in a quiet location, lots of take-out orders, but a decent seating area as well. I really enjoy speaking with the owners and their sushi is excellent. Always fresh, never questionable... Even our 5-year-old finds things she likes to eat here. Great local place!
8 years of eating at every fancy sushi restaurant in New York City, and no one has beat Bay Sushi’s consistent freshness and quality. After you try Bay Sushi, every other sushi restaurant in the city will feel second-rate, rubbery, and not fresh. Try their creative specialty rolls, satisfying donburi, and tangy teriyaki dishes served on cast-iron platters. An enduring favorite with a well-earned reputation.
Bay Sushi in Brooklyn is my go-to lunch spot! Fresh, delicious, and super consistent. The lunch special with 3 rolls is a steal, and they never skimp on quality. Friendly service and quick turnaround make it perfect for a wonderful lunch break!
Absolutely incredible experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest kindness. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch. Now, the food—wow! Every bite was a masterpiece, fresh and bursting with flavor. Their sushi is truly to die for! If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!
New owners, and this is a much needed improvement. The food is better. Really quite good for a neighborhood Sushi place. The atmosphere is 100% better, they finally turned om the lights. The hosts are warm and welcoming. If you liked this place in the past, give it a try now. HUGE inprovement.
Very attendant staff, good food, and the ambiance is calming. If you're visiting the pier or Owl's Head, it's worth stopping by. ~$25 per person with a drink, shared appetizer; sushi platter and an extra miso soup and dessert (2 guests total during my visit, bill came to about $47 with a $5 tip). Very fast service, so waiting won't be an issue!
A pretty standard takeout quality (not bad quality but not great) sushi place. I vacillated between 3 and 4 stars. I ultimately gave them 4 because the people there are working very hard. I ate in the restaurant during a Friday night. Inside was not that busy, but there are expectedly a lot of takeout orders. Since it's a small staff, service was very slow. They were friendly, but I got the impression takeout is probably the majority of their business. I would eat there again, but mostly out of convenience, not a place I would drive miles for.
The restaurant is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. They prepare primarily Japanese cuisine. I ordered two bento boxes. The salmon teriyaki bento box consisted of a generous portion of salmon. The sushi and sashimi bento box consisted of four pieces of sushi and several pieces of sashimi. Each bento box included white rice sprinkled with sesame seeds and served on the side. The boxes also included seaweed salad, three spring rolls, three shumai and a California roll. The tai sui soup was tasty and was prepared with thin noodles, chicken and vegetables. Friendly and helpful staff.
We got the three roll lunch special which was a good value, with fresh fish and fair portions. We took a star off because a man who seemed to work there was listening to TV show on his phone at a table nearby fairly loud, seemingly oblivious to us customers! I asked if it was the owner, and the waitress said no. Also, with a little more care, this restaurant could be a step up in the atmosphere department. We would like to be able to go more often because the food was solid, the prices were fair, and it’s convenient to the pier. I’ll revisit this review the next time we go and see if I can add a star.
Nice location. Small and quaint. However the prices are a bit high for the quality of food. My local sushi place is still my favorite for bargain sushi that is still fresh. This place charges double the price for the same taste. Service started out great, but took us 10 minutes to even get the check.
Went to eat here for a date night. It was a Friday and when we saw an empty restaurant, we should have know better. The restaurant had no air conditioning and smelled like a fish market. We decided to order takeout out. We were hoping for the best but were sadly disappointed. Sushi was dry, no sauce and had a strange taste. Kani salad had no flavor / free California roll was overly salty. Will not return here / just not good
Not coming back. Place is outdated including the fading little menu stand on the table. Place is not lively and makes me fall asleep. Dining area is so close to the kitchen. You will hear the guy cooking making a lot of noise. Food does not taste and looks very discolored.
I usually don't leave bad reviews. However, I bought an AUTISIC CHILD here to use the Bathroom and was told : "It's for customers only and the minimum charge on a credit/debit card is $10.00." They showed complete disregard for basic human decency. To be honest you can find most of this food in a local buffet for a fraction of the price. All they do is make it "look nice".
