Casa Vieja Restaurant Brooklyn Reviews
Food is so good, have been ordering from here for years.. their Tamales is top tier
The gorditas there were so tasty, and was a throw back to Mexico… my family is from Puebla and let me tell you I don’t think I’ve tasted a gorditas as authentic or tasty anywhere else in nyc. It’s a small mom and pop shop, the service was great and nice and comfy inside :) this is bookmarked for me and definitely coming back to try other menu items hehe
Small mom and pop but my goodness bomb food! As a fellow Mexican - it smelled like my grandmas house and the food was excellent. We had gorditas, tamales and their fresh squeezed oj! We also had fresh mimosas. The staff is very friendly and made us feel like home -love them
Me and my wife took to visit this place and try some shrimp garlic sauce for myself and her meat mixture plater. We enjoyed our food and in the end the owner gave us a flan for dessert what was very nice.
Good authentic Mexican food. You get a lot for your money. I've eaten at other places in this area but keep coming back. Today I picked up dinner for two...2 steak burritos with fresh salsa and salad on the side and a separate container of maduros for $21.23. Where can you get all this for such an affordable price in NYC?? The fast food joints will cost more and give you less food for the money. Try this place. You won't be disappointed.
MÉXICO 🇲🇽 Eat the World NYC review: Chasing some ghosts from Michoacán, a couple recent visits instead turned up some really talented chefs and and an interesting 9 year history of this South Sunset Park Mexican restaurant. Originally opening as a fine dining establishment, the city's non-Mexican food media was determined to put these Mexican chefs in their place and called their prices "astronomical" from the beginning. Apparently only white chefs can charge a lot for Mexican food if the Village Voice et al had their way. Well after some years, the menu reads closer to your typical Sunset Park varieties, but there are still some gems and the quality levels are definitely higher than your standard platos fuertes.
Casa Vieja was one of the few spots open during the blizzard, so that alone was appreciated. Went in with a friend on a freezing winter day and it was exactly what we needed. Decent-sized mom-and-pop restaurant with a warm, cozy feel. The food and service were both good, and the pricing felt fair. Overall, a solid experience, especially on a day when most places were closed.
Hi everyone mmm... to be honest the food is delicious, but the way they manage the restaurant to the custumers is not kind of like it, when you're enjoing your food or drinks they pushing you to consume more then you expect, That is harrasment
Small "Mom & Pop" Mexican restaurant with great food. We'll be back. Excellent service and can handle reservations for large parties. (20+ ppl) We've been several times and have always enjoyed ourselves. The salads are fresh and include season fruit mixed in. The chicken mole is very good. We didn't enjoy the beef but the guac and bean "salsa" made up for that. If you want dessert, get the flan. The only thing we wish they would add is decaf coffee to go with dessert in the evening. We'll be back.
Only had the pollo gorditas, as I walked by and saw two ladies freshly frying and hand-forming the dough. For 3.50 each, i definitely wanted to try them! They tasted like they had that true, homemade quality to them. The shell was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The chicken was standard shredded chicken, and it was accompanied by iceberg lettuce, crema, and cotija. Make sure you know some Spanish here!
Food was great! The vibes were a bit off. Music was WAYYY too loud for dining in. Good if you’re just trying to sing karaoke and eat tacos though.
To the owner, What do you charge for a small cup of coffee? I want to make sure I was not ripped off by the cashier. This morning I walked in and was not told the price. The small coffee charge was $3. Imagine my surprise. I go to a diner in Bayridge on 95th St and 4th Ave. they charge for the same size $1.25 and the coffee is hot and good. The coffee was not even a big deal and it was not hot but warm. You are in the 60th street area. You are over charging your customers. I have been in better places in sunset park and have been charged a reasonable price. I gave you a 1 star, it is actually a 0 star. Very upset.
