Chris Restaurant Brooklyn Reviews
I’ve been going to Chris since the 2000s. Fantastic food for good prices. Yeah, they might be out of what you want, they might not always be very friendly, and you definitely need to play by their rules. But it’s worth it. Especially when the bars close and they are still there, serving up oxtail, and blasting reggae at 2am. Never change Chris. Never change.
Great spot for quick, affordable, and tasty food. Reliable spot. Sometimes a little dry if you go at an off peak time, but nothing oxtail gravy can’t fix.
I have been eating Chris’s for 5 years now and every single experience has been fantastic. The folks working here are genuinely nice good people. The food is spectacular in taste and portion. The jerk chicken is very tasted as is the rice, cabbage and plantains. Its a wholesome filling experience for the soul and stomach. I love visiting Chris’s even though its a 2 hour commute home! I recently have been buying their jerk chicken pastry and it too is succulent, juicy and delicious. Thank you to the wonderful folks here who make every visit so worth the 2 hour commute back home 🥰💜
Since people think good food only exist in Manhattan I am giving Chris Caribbean restaurant five stars since I've been coming here and getting good food for over 10 years. $13 for stew beef, rice and beans, cabbage ,plantain and collard greens can feed a small army. As far as customer service, it's not Park Ave.
I moved to the area recently and went to try a few things to bring back home. The jerk chicken was pretty good, but the oxtail was insanely good. Even better though was the goat roti which was delicious. The rice and peas were on point, as well as the steamed veggies. Unfortunately they were out of beef patties but that probably means they sell out fast. The only mediocre thing were the fried plantains which felt hard and dry. The price was totally reasonable. Overall, very impressed. I'm going back soon.
We found the food here to be delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered oxtail, fried chicken and curried goat, each with rice and peas and plantains. Large portions. The oxtail and the goat in particular, were fantastic. Update: I've removed a star because we ordered from them a second time and the food was nowhere near as good. I'm not sure what happened.
I ordered the jerk chicken. Bad you’re expecting both flavors when you order this, but I was sadly disappointed. The chicken and the peas and rice were seasoned, The chicken was dry, Sat under a lamp too I am not sure. I would not eat here again, even with the great prices. It doesn’t sound
Went in and ordered jerk chicken . The rice and peas were too soft mushy type, the jerk chicken and cabbage was decent. The lady who works there I'm not sure if she works the whole day but there at night gives attitude. She doesn't make you feel welcome she don't say thank you or anything. A small jerk chicken meal you get one piece of chicken cut in half , more rice than anything. May return may not
I ordered the curry goat from them a few times and it was amazing minus the small serving of meat. But this oxtail though ? First of all, this is the amount of oxtail you're getting for $20something dollars. I asked for no cabbage and they put it in my plate anyway. Second, I should have believed the other reviewers about that vinegar taste. The oxtail wasn't seasoned with nothing but vinegar. No oxtail flavor, no salt, just vinegar. I'm not kidding. This is the worst oxtail I've ever had. How do you mess up oxtail ? Lol.
Chris has delicious food without a doubt, however their service varies depending on who is at the register. I️ paid for a LARGE stew fish dinner and the image below is what I️ received. I️ was severely disappointed with the amount of fish that he gave us, and tried to compensate with rice. I️ would prefer the person at the register be honest and let me know there was a little amount of fish left rather than carelessly neglect our order.
Very disappointed in what I received today. I’ve gone to this place for years. I ordered a large today and I have what seems like 3 pieces of meat and SO much rice. I called to asked why I was given so little when there are 3 diff sizes and the woman told me “That’s the portion for the large. That’s the bosses new rule.” When I asked for more meat, she told me no. Why are there 3 size options? What exactly am I paying for? I’ll attach a picture where u can see I’ve eaten 3 pieces and what’s left is ridiculous.
Ordered 2 slices of fish, a rasta pasta with a jerk chicken, rice, and peas dinner by UberEats, $75 approximately wih delivery and taxes and for the love of me, I can't phantom how the server does not smell or realize that the jerk chicken had gone bad. This is not the first time this has happened, but it will probably be the last time for me. The first thing I did was go for a piece of chicken and instantly had to spit it out. Then I put my nose, only to realize that whoever took out the food certainly doesn't care about the customers and the reputation of the restaurant. Totally insulted by the service I just got. I filed a complaint with UberEats hoping I get back my money.
