Eva's X Cinco De Mayo Brooklyn Reviews
I'm not one to review places, but I had such a good experience I wanted to share my appreciation. They gave me 2 free al pastor tacos! Not only were they free, they were absolutely delicious! I was a little skeptical since they were just giving them away, but they were every bit as flavorful as I expect from a real good Mexican spot. And there was free horchata to boot! No idea why they were offering so much for free, but I'm certainly not complaining, especially around the NYU area. The only thing I paid for was my (very tasty) chips and guac, making my whole lunch a whopping $5. Definitely will return! Even if I have to pay next time 😂
Outstanding value for money! Excellent tacos (3 of them) both birria and chicken. Out of left field but I got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich which was excellent! Highly recommend!
I was looking for a quick, healthy bite while out on a date with my mom. She is very particular and while this place is no frills (don't expect any real ambiance) the food was FANTASTIC. She got a steak bowl and I got the chicken cinco de mayo bowl. We shared and both were equally delicious. They gave us mini-carrot cake protein muffins with our meals and we loved them so much we bought a bunch on our way out to share. Would definitely return if I was in the area.
Sry for not sharing photos. But I just left and the food was soo good that I forgot to take pics. I had the steak quesadilla with French fries, and a 32oz homemade pineapple juice. Everything was mucho delicioso. It's a very cozy place and the service was amazing. 10 out of 10 I will be going again.
I stopped by for weekday lunch takeout, and ordered the carne asada burrito bowl and a green smoothie (substituted blueberries for the pineapple. The smoothie was a little sweeter than expected because they use apple juice). The meat was juicy and tender, and I enjoyed the refried beans/cheese. They also gave a complimentary mini carrot cake protein muffin, which I thoroughly enjoyed for breakfast the next day. I will note that is fairly no-frills seating inside and outdoors, as it is predominantly a takeout and delivery spot. They also have a 10% discount for students, health workers, NYPD & Trainers (excluding specials). Considering some of the other dining options in the West Village/Greenwich Village area, Eva’s food is fresh, high quality, generous portion size, and very reasonably priced.
Cheap and easy spot for huge portions and fresh food! Best burrito ever and I love the birria tacos. I love that they still give out mini carrot cakes!
Legit nothing bad to say about this place. The food was fire. I was full after finishing what I ordered. Positive vibes. I need to go again when I visit. I didn't take a picture of the food because I was starving, and I struggle to eat, but I ate the whole thing because it was so good, so I couldn't stop, had to enjoy it. I took a screenshot of what I ordered. My friend was with me, and she also ordered the same thing. Her first bite reaction was, "Oh my god, everything tastes exactly how it should! that's really good." If this sounds paid, its not, I'm telling you I wouldn't shut up about this meal while eating it and after I got on the train. This restaurant is just very much on my mind now. They don't make food like this in Middletown... Oh forgot to add they gave me two free muffins and it tasted like my moms healthy versions of pastries, very yummy. Also. I am going insane wanting to visit again take me back! 😭
My wife and I discovered this little gem whole visiting Greenwich Village. We were so happy we stopped in for lunch!! The food was excellent and was reflective of the vibe; great energy=food being prepared with LOVE! The birria tacos were excellent! Some of the best consome I've had. My wife devoured her California steak bowl. Would highly recommend this place if you're in the area.
One of my favorite places to get an affordable healthier bite to eat. They have awesome pitas but my favorite dish is Tony's Plate.
I have passed by this place several times, I have even picked up food deliveries from here but never ate from here. The food was amazing and service was fantastic. I was able to place my order online and it was ready when I arrived. This was a great first experience but definitely will not be my last experience. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place!!!!
Solid food and fast service. My grab and go place for fresh tacos.
I ordered through UberEats. I got the Carnitas Burrito bowl and chips and guacamole and it was delicious. Good portions as well!!
Best place to eat out for the value and health! Hands down the best place you can possibly eat in NYC if you want a good amount of healthy food!
Good food, great price! It's also a lot of food. Approved!
Delicious al pastor burrito. Tastes just like home 🇲🇽
I eat here 4 times a week when I’m in nyc. I almost don’t want to leave a review for fear everyone will find out about this place. The food is clean and tasty. Really healthy. Staff is nice. I always order take out or delivery, but will dine in occasionally. Easy location and quick service. The protein cookies… are out of this world.
The staff is really nice the food is too notch when it comes to Mexican food
Great lunch spot. Good, clean Mexican food. Love their chicken guacamole salad. Get it almost every day. The staff and owners are fantastic! It’s part of my weekly downtown lunch rotations! Kind people!
I work nearby, this place is such a nice neighborhood staple, prices are reasonable and the workers are all very friendly. there is plenty of seating and they never rush you out, which is hard to find in this area! I appreciate restaurants like this so much. food is good and so are the smoothies!
Always so good!! My favorite place to get food in the neighborhood. Something for every dietary preference and you don’t feel guilty about what you ate. Prices are also very reasonable.
Primarily a Mexican snack bar, highly recommended for a quick lunch. The atmosphere is also quite funny. We actually went there twice during our stay in NYC. We can't say anything about the shop with nutritional supplements for fitness.
Always great for a quick, healthy bite. The carrot protein muffins are just excellent muffins; you wouldn't be able to tell they're healthy muffins! The lentil soup is so good too.
I’ve been going to eva’s for 10 years for the food. everything tastes fresh and is filling. they have the best carrot cake that I get with every order
Food was delicious and ingredients were fresh. The staff were very kind and patient. The venue is what you expect for the price - it’s basic but effective. Overall value for money is very good and we were very happy.
The staff at Eva’s were so kind and the food is amazing! I got two pork tacos and horchata, so tasty. The kitchen staff got the order out super fast, too. Definitely going back!
Food was excellent. We had birria tacos and breakfast burrito. Cafeteria style - order food, they call and you grab the tray. Not a lot of atmosphere, but a photo of Ric Ocasek from when he was there, so that’s cool. Order taker was very friendly, but it is not a service place. We also got the soups, included, instead of the drink - also very good. And they give you a mini muffin wrapped in plastic, which was cute, but I did not eat it yet.
I'm a regular here, have been for the past 11 years. Hard pressed to find a better deal when it comes to protein/$, and everything is delicious. Staff is friendly and food is fast. Highly recommend.
Amazing all around. Staff is friendly and the food is superb. This is a "hidden gem" in Midtown. Food is authentic Mexican. Even my 79 year old father commented "That was a good burrito. Next time we're in the city, we need to go back there". Well done to all here!
Shocked it’s taken me so long to review this place considering how much I come here. Flat out this is my favorite healthy spot in the city and maybe anywhere. The only place you can TRUST isn’t lying to you about the oil they’re using or the macros of a dish. They’ve served Manhattan for decades and there’s a reason why. Eva’s is a tremendous institution that I’m grateful for. And lord those little carrot cakes….the best
Excellent food and drink. Friendly, helpful staff in basic but adequate surroundings. We like Mexican food and this is a new favourite
Delicious and very filling Al pastor burrito!! And the carrot cake is great too
When we first discovered Eva's, we went back again the very next day for dinner because it was so good (& healthy food!). And I'm pretty sure 2 days after that, too. Great faster & healthier option that isn't just salad!
This place has the best food in the Neighborhood hands down. We just recently placed a bulk order for our 28 employees at the hotel to enjoy some lunch. They all loved the freshness and flavor and they want us to reorder every time we have an event now lol. Couldn't be happier with their sales rep Paula she's an amazing asset to the service. Thank you all once again.
Honestly delicious food at a great price and amazing atmosphere. I got myself a grilled chicken burrito bowl and the food is so fresh the staff is friendly. 10 out of 10 recommended bring your friends bring your family.
For years, I lived just a block away from Eva’s restaurant, and it remains the only place in New York City where you can indulge in "cheat" meals without any real compromise. Their food is low in carbohydrates, sugars, and fats, while being high in protein — every athlete’s dream. While the image of a Manhattan cop eating a donut is a familiar staple of popular culture, here you will find some of the fittest officers in the city stopping by for lunch daily. It is no surprise that world-renowned bodybuilders also frequent this place, with the walls proudly lined with photos of famous athletes from the past several decades. In the back, there is a supplement store stocked with obscure and fascinating products you likely did not know existed — from protein-rich bread to amino acid chewing gum, and everything in between. The Greek owner has clearly incorporated Mediterranean influences into the menu, giving it a distinctive and healthy flair. Whenever I feel like "cheating" on my diet, I go to Eva’s for the high-protein broccoli pizza, the chicken burrito with hummus, or one of their other signature dishes.
This place is so good, the chicken tinga and tropical smoothie is amazing they give you big portions for the bowls and it’s super healthy. Love this place for a good casual lunch!
Update: November 2025 Thank you to the owner of Cinco de Mayo for the complimentary slice of carrot cake. I picked up my Chicken Burrito Bowl and showed the person behind the counter your comments on my review. The chicken burrito bowl was delicious and good portions. Eva's Health combined with Cinco de Mayo into one restaurant offering Eva's Health power protein plates and a large Mexican menu. Sounds odd but offers diverse items. Cinco de Mayo has great B1G1Free like the Chicken Bowl and Carnitas Tacos. Eva's offers B1 G1Free on various protein plates with brown rice. Good portions, good food at 2 for 1 prices. I always order the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting as dessert. They also make delicious burgers and falafel wraps.
Excellent no frills counter service spot . . My chicken burrito was solid . Only downside is after first bite tortilla fell apart as it was not wrapped right enough so it turned into a. Burrito bowl real quick . But I’ll go back - the ingredients seemed fresh and that’s what matters
The food is great and healthy and full of flavour. A lot of bodybuilders come here and fitness geeks. I have a lean and ripped which is steamed chicken and broccoli. Or a Turkey Burger pizza style. But they have plenty of healthy dishes to choose from.
I was super disappointed in the chilaquiles. They were the worst that I've ever had. The chilaquiles that I was served were hard tortilla chips with two fried eggs laid on top with some cheese sprinkled on top. I'm from San Antonio, TX so was looking forward to a familiar dish. Response to the owner: The chilaquiles I was served were two fried eggs on top of very hard, stale tortilla chips with some queso sprinkled on top. Agree, either check your recipe or speak with your chef. The chilaquiles or migas that I know are corn tortilla slices lightly fried in oil in a pan, scrambled eggs poured over along with your preferred salsa and cheese. I hope that helps.
Food and service are excellent. I love the hibiscus tea, although I prefer less sweet. The reason I gave less stars because I believe that some of the images on the wall are inappropriate. I don't want to see images of naked people making out, with only ivy-type leaves covering less than 5% of their bodies, while I am eating (I censored the photo). Regardless of the reason, it is still inappropriate to have such photos publicly displayed.
Gluten is an issue for me. I liked the health inspirations on the walls. Food tasted ok and service was ok except the part where they told me corn shell/ tortillas would be gluten free (or perhaps the part where where they assured me the kitchen staff would change gloves before making/ handling my food). My gluten symptoms are fairly unmistakable & sadly, this place somehow fed me gluten after assuring me they would not. Celiac & severe allergy sufferers beware!
The food quality not up to the standards. The chicken burrito I ordered was bland no mexican taste what so ever. The rice was mushy and overcooked. The chicken bland no flavor at all. The staff were very nice and the place looks like a funeral home. Sorry but you need to do better.
Got their Triple Protein bowl for lunch to go. Was very disappointed. Everything was soggy and mushy, especially the rice. The presentation was really sad and unappealing. The protein was all so salty. Had to take a swig of water with each bite. Had to pay extra for corn and hot sauce?! So it came out to be almost $17 for a bowl of mush and chaos. The best parts? Sadly, the corn and beans. Would not recommend. If you like a lot of salt and mushy rice, then give it a go.
I ordered through uber and was disappointed. Not only was I missing my drink but the tacos were poorly thrown together and so mushy. My favorite location is in Brooklyn but I wanted to order at work so I choose this location. Super disappointed. Word of advice, when packing delivery orders, please make sure you take that same pride in making the food good and making sure you don’t forget items…..that’s not asking for much. Especially when I’m paying even more for delivery.
I appreciate the old fashioned vibes and the guy with the glasses 🤓 working at the counter is super kind and will make sure that you get exactly what you want even he has to fight for it with the kitchen staff lol, but the food used to be good and now it’s just underwhelming. here in NYC, the market it’s extremely competitive and this place seems to be left behind for so so many reasons, the portions, the food, the quality, the menus that you can’t find 🥲… Though, It is still better than Chipotle…
Last Wednesday my mom and I decided to have some classic Eva's food but we had to leave immediately. The store was really loud, they had a soccer game playing really loud and we didn't feel like it was the right place to have a little chat or to enjoy our food. Lately the store is different, some days they have loud music paying at the counter. I'm telling you this because I love this store and I really want to go back in the future hoping to find a nice and friendly environment again.
This place has changed so much, I don’t know where to begin, I’ve been going here my whole life and thought it was friendly and cared about the community but that is no longer the case. The delivery boys that hang out in the restaurant all day leave no room for paying customers and the bike the all have block the entire way of the sidewalk most of the day and create a bottle neck and blocks the sidewalk so that makes it Impossible to get around the front entrance of the residential building if your wheelchair bound like my mother, and car access to the front of the building is impossible so access-a-ride has to park down the street but then we can’t wheel past the bikes, literally boxed us in. I’ve asked them to have them park their bikes in a way that doesn’t block the street but the guys inside give me the worst looks and pretend they don’t speak English and say the owner isn’t here and they can’t do anything about it. So I guess I’ma call the city cause they don’t care about their neighbors.
