Köfte Piyaz Brooklyn Reviews
For almost 15 years, Kofte Piyaz, a small Turkish restaurant has maintained over a 4.5 rating consistently. It's really an incredible achievement. The chef, Murat Ersoy, has often run the restaurant all by himself. He is charming and kind and makes incredible food that is also affordable. I am devastated to learn the restaurant closed due to a recent fire in the building. I hope Murat reopens a new restaurant or starts a new venture. I will be happy to support it.
Wow! Every time we have such a wonderful meal. Everything is fresh and delicious whether in person or delivery and the ultimate comfort food without sacrificing quality or health. The babaganoush and bean salad are must orders but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Don’t skip dessert.. both the baklava and almond pudding are delicious.
These white bean salad (piyaz) and the meatballs are a Turkish favorite dish and I am so glad I found this restaurant. The meatballs, white beans salad and the mix meze platter were all delicious. The owner of the restaurant is a gourmet and food researcher, he also wrote and published a recipe book about vegetarian Turkish dishes. It was so nice to hear the stories of the food from him while we enjoyed the food at the cozy ambiance.
Highly recommend Mediterranean Turkish restaurant,if you're out here come give it a try! We had the mix appetizer plate, grilled mix platter with chicken gyro, red lentil soup, house salad with feta cheese for dessert baklava and almond pudding with Turkish coffee! Absolutely delicious, tasty and super healthy! 😂😘💞😆
I hesitate to give a good review because that means it's gonna take longer for me to get an order. This place is hands down my favorite Turkish spot, the red lentil soup is fire, the french fries are crack. The babaganoush and humus is the best. The chef is going to release his cookbook and I can't wait.
This restaurant is a gem - quite possibly the best Turkish food in all of Brooklyn. If you like Turkish, Mediterranean or Greek, you will love Kofte Piyaz. The restaurant is small but delivers huge flavors and friendly service. Their kofte (meatballs) are a special treat - I loved their almost spongy texture and the rich taste. Highly recommend pairing that with their fresh bean salad (piyaz). And, of course add some crunchy baklava for dessert and you will be in heaven. The restaurant takes great precautions during COVID to make sure that all customers are safe. To add, their portions are generous with very reasonable pricing. This authentic Turkish restaurant became one of my instant favorites in NYC. I look forward to returning.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. You can easily walk past it without recognising the sign, but this is an AMAZING restaurant, the food is exquisite. The sandwiches are tucked in a kind of grilled bread, and every ingredient tastes fresh: the grilled beef sandwich, the lamb sausage, both are MUST-TRYs. Finally you can top your meal off with an authentic Turkish coffee. P.S. don't forget the salads 👌 P.S 2: I have tried MANY MANY Baklava across the world, the Baklava in this place is one of THE BEST, exquisitely juicy, not so sweet, perfect texture. It's made by the chef and is always fresh, you CANNOT get anything like it even in pastries, it's AMAZING!
Like most of the people have said: delicious food (specially the meatballs) and good prices. I went for dinner with my partner and enjoyed it very much. I love the music they were playing. I only want to add something: they do not sell beer or wine but they allow you to bring your own drinks, which is great.
Great small local restaurant. The waiter who also was our chef was super friendly and welcoming. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the grilled lamb sausage platter. The rice was cooked perfectly and reminded me of barley. The coban salad was delicious and easy to share for two. The hummus was homemade and fresh and the baklava was some of the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommend and will definitely be back again!
When I am traveling, one of my guidelines is to find a small local restaurant that has survived for a while. That nearly always gets me a good meal. I was a bit concerned here because my 9 year old is a picky eater. But, she ordered the chicken kabob sandwich and loved it. We also ordered Baba Ganoush and humus for appetizers and both were fantastic. I had meatballs while my wife had other daughter had chicken gyros and everything was delicious. Closed out the meal with baklava. The food was fantastic and the owner had an infectious smile. It's easy to walk past this little place but you shouldn't walk past. Go in and have a great meal that won't empty your wallet.
Stopped by this restaurant by chance, as my wife and I were looking for a quick bite before going to Costo. Overall the food service and quality was good but overpriced. We went around 3 pm and it was completely empty inside. The owner quickly took our order and made the food within 6-8minutes as we sat inside. We ordered a mixed combo over rice and a kofte over rice. It was chuncks of chicken, minced beef kofte and lamb sausages. Their kitchen is right in front of the restaurant so we got a first hand glance to the food preparation on the grill. The meat was juicy and grilled perfectly, bed of rice that was decent, and came with bread but no sauces. The salad had a special oil-based dressing tossed with onions. Only a lone grilled sliced tomato accompanied the dish, no green pepper. Only cons are that the food portion to the price and price itself definitely could have been better. The depth of the food tray was about 1.25 inches.
We had a very pleasant experience at Kofte Piyaz. The restaurant is small, but warm and cozy and through the dim lights, you could see that it was nicely decorated. We were the only couple dining there so we got the owners full attention. We found him delightful, and I think he truly cares about the customers and has a passion for food. We started the course with lentil soup, and it had an overpowering lemon taste. You eventually get used to it, but I couldn’t savor the the lentils as all I could taste was lemon. The soup came with delicious pita bread and unlike ordinary pita breads, they were insanely good. Fresh, fluffy and baked to perfection. These pita breads were in a completely different league and were the best pita bread I’ve had in nyc. For the main course I ordered a mixed platter that had rice and a combination of meats; Lamb Sausage, Chicken Kabobs and meatballs. But everything had a very high sodium taste. I think they were aggressively salted or seasoned the same. The meatballs were soft, finely minced but didn’t have that melt in your mouth flavor that I was looking for. The lamb sausage was juicy but the saltiest. Now I may not have a sophisticated enough palate for Turkish food, but I think Kofte (meatballs) transcend national boundaries and it was just too salty for my taste.
