Fortune Palace Brooklyn Reviews
I had a fantastic experience at Fortune Palace and am happy to give it a full 5-star rating! The food, service, and atmosphere were all consistently good, each earning a solid 3-star rating. It is a reliable and high-quality spot that I would definitely recommend for a meal!
Came here to say the food is amazing and so is the staff.. please get the soft shell fried rice.. you will not be disappointed and Try everything else on the menu you won’t regret it. The true star of the show is the staff here, very helpful and amazing in every way to make sure you get catered and looked after. I will be back here again and again.
This review is for their dinner service so heads up on that if you are looking for dim sum review. This is not it. I would agree with the people that says that if you have been disappointed by this place during their opening month or two to give them a try again. I have dined at this restaurant twice over the last two months and both times I have been pretty impressed by the quality of the dinner. My wife have been here more times than that with her side of the family and they all loved the food here too. By what she told me, the lower overall reviews score as of this review might be from a combination of the food being only ok during the beginning month or two and the fact that about half the reviews here is about their dim sum which although also improved over time, is not up to par with the superior quality of what they dish out during dinner time. The place is spacious and could easily accommodate large parties without feeling jammed next to the other tables like most chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. We had a party of 9 at our table tonight and we easily sat together at the round table comfortably and the next closest tables were far enough away for us to move about when we need to. Not sure about all the waiters or waitresses that some reviews complained about but ours have always been attentive during our visits. The highlight was tonight on a Monday when the restaurant was relatively empty, they were constantly changing our plates, making sure our water and tea was refilled, and our main waiter came in to talk to us through out the meal and update us on our food. So yea, give this place a try again if you only been here for only only the dim sum or haven't been here for months. You might be pleasantly surprised.
New Chinese restaurant on 20th avenue. We got here on Saturday at 9am and just took the last table. There was a line after that and we were super lucky. The food is hot and fresh, the dim sum was tasty. The restaurant is also big and the windows bring in a lot of sunlight. Come here to try it with your family but try to come early to get a table!
All the people who had negative experiences at this place definitely need to give this place a second chance. This post is about my experience for dinner. I came here for a birthday dinner. The food was presented beautifully and tasted flavorful. Usually I let my camera eat first, but this time I couldn’t even take pics of all the food because everything tasted so good. Portions were good. We had 12 people and we still had leftovers. The staff was also accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our celebration was memorable. We booked a private room which was set up really nice and we had a great view of the sunset. This place also has great valet parking. This restaurant certainly deserves more credit and recognition. Although not everyone will think the food is super amazing or special, for the price and ambience, it’s a good place to give it a try and have some decent food with good vibes. I will come back again as I throughly enjoyed my time eating dinner here.
Came here for dim sum and a birthday dinner celebration and both occasions were great! Not quite sure why there are such low ratings. The food and customer service was amazing and I have nothing but praise to give this place. I was only able to get two pictures of the dinner we had because everyone dove right into the food! (The buns in the pic from dim sum were delicious and my bf was obsessed with them). Will def be coming back here more often with family and friends!
Had a lovely family dinner during Labor day weekend to celebrate a birthday. We came in at 5pm and had the beautiful wedding-like venue to ourselves. The host was particularly friendly and fluent in both English and Cantonese. He did not charge us for the cake cutting fee, and we loved the complimentary watermelon and taro sago dessert at the end. As far as the dishes go, I would avoid the noodle and chicken fried rice. Unfortunately these tasted bland but everything else we ordered were very well seasoned and I would recommend! - Walnut mayo Shrimp - Clams with black bean sauce - Lamb chops topped with fried onions and peppers - Snow pea leaves with dried scallop - Garlic Lobster I came here for another occasion and recalled also enjoying the fried peking pork chops. After dinner, the host agreed to show us the middle and basement floor accessible by an elevator where private rooms ranged from $650-$3,000. Based on the number of people in your party, it could be the same price as eating at the main dining area. The rooms he showed had really nice vibes or karaoke option. Will definitely consider it for any future large family reunions. IG:Jubes111 YouTube: Jujubi Fam
Came here on a quiet evening for dinner with family. The service was smooth because we ordered a head of time before go in for dinner. Each dish came out so fast. Each server was attentive and friendly. The food was good but a bit salty some dishes were bland for my taste. We ordered the roasted duck and the table side presentation was cool, but the duck was a bit cold. The shrimp mayo was delicious my favorite dish of all, the squid dish was good soft enough to chew, the lamb chop was delicious and seasoned well, lobster was good as well and the sweet and sour pork was way too sweet for me but everyone else enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner but also their dim sum is pretty good too.
Way too many tables and chairs. Almost not enough space for the carts to pass. My seat is so close to the table already. They wanted me to sit closer. I turned around and told them I had no more room. On the other side of the other table was a lady sitting there. I told them, why don't you tell her to move in? They finally did. Later on, they had messed up our orders. We asked for steam fish, they gave us fried fish. We had waited a long time for the fish. So long, everything on the table were finished.
It was my first time having dinner here, and the dishes were served on large plates, just like in the menu photos. The food is authentic and very fresh. The beef ribs were delicious, and the duck casserole was tasty, though a bit salty for my taste. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’ll definitely be back for more!
It will be busy with long wait list on weekend morning. Most dishes meet expectation for good dimsum. Good dimsum option if you live locally. Like that they have food cart coming around, but would love to it see more frequently. Chicken feet is a must have. Egg custard bun isn’t the best, would be great if they have the savory-sweet runny filling with strong egg yolk flavor.
A good spot for dim sum with a decent variety of dishes. Some items were delicious, while others were just average in taste. The service was mixed—some staff were friendly and attentive, while others were not as welcoming. However, the overall experience was still okay, and it’s a nice place to visit if you’re craving dim sum in Brooklyn.
Came here on a Sunday morning for dim sum with a group of 5. We had to share a table with another family of 5 which is typical in dim sum restaurants when it’s crowded. The one thing I liked about this place is that they still push dim sum around in a cart - something that has been phased out in most Chinatown dim sum restaurants. The dim sum cart ladies were very nice. Everything went downhill when the other family of 5 left first, they seated another group at our table… but it was a group of 10. Part of their group sat down and awkwardly watched us eat as the other half of their group waited standing up. We felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave even though we had a lot of food leftover. The moment we asked for the bill, the waiters started reaching over us to clean the tables before we could even put our coats on. I understand they’re trying to churn tables and get as many people in and out as possible, but they should consider where they’re placing their next group of customers when previous customers are not done eating yet. Honestly did not even want to leave a tip for that reason, but the dim sum ladies were really nice and the food was decent.
food came out quick but everything was served cold.. we had a total of 9 dishes and it totaled to approximately $500 with no tip included. the food itself was quite flavorless and needed to be sent back to the kitchen to be reheated. there are plenty of other local chinese places that can be supported instead of this one, i would not recommend this place at all
