Joe Coffee Brooklyn Reviews
Decent place near the Barclays which was ideal since I came into the city for the Liberty game, the other night! The place was packed for a Taco Tuesday, the service was phenomenal! My only advice is having a happy hour menu for folks coming to see a basketball game or concert. The place would do really well with that option. I thought $93 for drinks and appetizers were excessive though.
Tiny’s Menu was cute! We visited during NYC Restaurant Week. The server, Frank, was a newbie. He did a great job! Very attentive and helpful. The manager also did a great checking in with him and our table to ensure all was well! I’ll definitely be back for another Margarita flight 🍹
I loved this place!! I had tacos and enchilladas here and both were amazing. I went with 'green sauce' for enchilladas and it was a little spicy- i really enjoyed it. We also tried the nacho of the house and loved it too! With black beans and sauce, nachos were somewhere between crispy and soft. Overall satisfaction led us to try their churos and it turned out all we ordered were great!
Adorable little authentic Mexican restaurant in the heart of Brooklyn. Everything is fresh, flavorful and well portioned - You can't go wrong with a single menu item! The unique Birria Tacos with Consume is levels above the rest, full of flavor, while the Carnitas Taco was moist and made to perfection! The sauce options are incredible - Make sure to try the Pumpkin Sauce... WINNING! Say hello to your new best friend, their Elote - You can't get this baby just anywhere... made with homemade mayo and all the trimmings right on the cob. Fajitas are insanely good - You can tell that the chef came from a high-end steakhouse! The guacamole and salsa are a MUST - Creamy and chunky all in one, the guac melts in your mouth while the housemade tortillas offer a perfect crunch (not too soft and not too hard)... Salsa is bursting with flavor and will please every tastebud! VERY RECOMMENDED!!!
I never miss the opportunity to head over to Tiny’s Cantina on my self care days. Happy hour from 4-6:30pm SIGN ME UP! I always go on low key days because I’m one of those people who brings a book to the bar and I feel like you get better service when it’s not busy. The service is ALWAYS good when I go & the food is always amazing, somehow every time I go they end up giving me some samples which I’m not made about. The happy hour margarita will always do it for me, I find that after one I’m feeling really good and ready to order food. My favs so far are the chicken quesadillas and the birria tacos. Both flavorful dishes, can’t wait to go back to try something new.
Really enjoyed dining at Tony's cantina. Seeing that they occupy the old Shorty's location, the atmosphere gives off an elevated dive bar feel. We arrived promptly for our reservation at 7pm and were quickly seated. The staff was very attentive and gave great recommendations. They had an attractive cocktail menu. I started out with the Hibiscus (Blanco tequila, hibiscus liquor, triple sec and lime) followed by the Cactus Pear (silver tequila, triple sec, peach puree, agave and lime) . Both were good strong drinks. I personally preferred the Cactus Pear. Their margarita also gets a good honorable mention. For appetizers, we started out with the guacamole classico and Alas Al pastor (wings with adobo marinade). We received 8 delicious wings served with pineapple salsa. Our dining experience was elevated by our entrees. I had the Camaron BLT (beer battered shrimp tacos served with bacon and aoili) which was delicious. The Birria de Res (pulled beef shank served with bone marrow) was also a winner. For dessert, we shared churros and très leches cake. The sauce of the cake complimented the churros well. We left stuff and happy. Being that they are in a prime location near the Barclays, this place will continue to find business. Can't wait to return and try more items on their menu.
Found Tinys on a Eater recommendation and what a treat! Immediately felt the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Camrones BLT and Birria tacos were both phenomenal and the burrito bowl was so satisfyingly fresh and layered. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
Great service is an understatement. The staff made us feel at home and were incredibly kind & attentive. On top of amazing service, the food was incredible. Rarely does both happen. Highly recommend the birraria tacos, santa segre drink (similar to a spicy margarita) and guac.
Tiny restaurant that packs a punch! Service was a little slow but the waiter apologized several times. The delicious food made up for the wait. The fish tacos were full of flavor. The guacamole (not pictured) vanished within seconds. It was so fresh and the chips were still warm! Highly recommend if you want a yummy bite.
I am a tourist who happened to stumble upon this place and so glad I did. Food was amazing, margarita was great! Happened to be restaurant week, so there was a optional special menu and all courses were delicious!!
I've been so lucky lately. I came out of the Barclay's and found Tiny's Cantina! What great place, the food, service and atmosphere didn't disappoint! I might go to another Nets game just to eat there! Very, very yummy Mexican food!
Love Joe coffee! Coffee is great , people are wonderful, and pastries are delicious! Super great space and they are always fast and efficient! Will come Back
I used to work in the neighborhood, and now that I’ve been transferred to another area, one of the things I’ll truly miss is this little coffee haven - Joe Coffee Company. Almost every day, I’d stop by for my Cappuccino or Matcha Latte with oat milk, hands down one of the best in downtown Brooklyn (and honestly, maybe in all of NYC. Yes, I said it). There was something about this place that always made me smile. Not because of the design, but it somehow reminded me of the café from 'Fleabag'. You know, where people come in to 'charge their phones'… but you can tell they’re actually charging their souls. The crowd here does the same: laptops open, headphones on, deep in thought, and I loved being one of them. I’ll miss the super friendly, warm staff and my everyday cup of joy. If you’re nearby, go grab a coffee... with all my heart (and body) I recommend this place!
stopped in before i saw the brooklyn chamber orchestra nearby, the banana bread was delicious :) and the barista was very very nice <3
Very cozy and lively atmosphere. The staff are so so friendly. Very cleanly and a great place to come too meet up a friend, or get some work done.
The employees were really kind and helpful when it came to selection of drinks and food items. It was also a very nice and well kept environment. Clean and perfect vibe/energy to just relax or get some work done. Will be back!
it’s a wonderful coffee shop in brooklyn heights. a little pricey, but worth it. interior is very clean and has minimal decor. croissants were very flakey and delicious, and the iced chai latte was one of the better ones i’ve had. they sell merchandise as well. free wifi which is always a plus for working persons. there’s an app that you can use for rewards which i thought was neat. lots of sitting areas. they make it extremely clear that they support lgbtq+ persons which is fantastic :) i would definitely come here again :))
Cozy neighborhood place with friendly and attentive staff. Whether you are strolling through this area or taking a break from exploring the promenade with the views of Manhattan, this neighborhood coffee place will be sure to warm your heart with brews crafted with care and quality ingredients.
A great coffee shop! A lovely place to spend an hour and grab your caffeine fix. The coffee is good (arabica) and the whole place has a friendly, chilled vibe. The only downside is that it could have been mistake for the Apple Store. A laptop ban would make this place heaven but no-one can blame the freelance community for wanting to kick back here and get some work done.
12/4 update: back for dinner. I had the Brisket Tacos again and they were just as good. I had the cornbread and that was really good too. Rob the BT was cool & service was good. 11/19/21 First time here. Lunch break. We sat at the bar because tables only hold 4 and we were 5. The food is great! I had the Brisket Tacos, a side of rice n beans and a tres leches cake, got that to-go and it was good. The Tacos were really good and built well, I would get them again. Rice n beans were ok, nothing special, could use some spices and yellow would be better than white rice. Chips n salsa were complementary and were good, chips are homemade or seem to be. Service was good and friendly. We will definitely be back. Happy hour specials (Mon-Fri) House margaritas $5. Beer specials and 2 food specials.
Nice selection of tequila and mezcal. Amazing cornbread. Brisket tacos are fantastic, you won't want to share them. Flavored margaritas are on the sweeter side so order them skinny. Friendly and attentive staff.
The food presentation was great the drinks where on point. The Guacamole was a little to salt and need more chips. The shrimp taco was great and the cheese was so fresh on the bowl dish. Desert was a great portion For sharing . The staff is new still good job.
I liked the taco options, it was hard to choose one. After weighing the birria, barbacoa and pork, I settled on the birria. The delivery was ok, it was a heavy taco, with a deep fried(?) shell. Flavour was good, especially with the accompanying consomme or the sauces. The marrow was underwhelming. I also had the hibiscus margarita, which was well made and quite interesting.
I've been coming to this place for about six years, and it's been a neighborhood haven for working remotely. It's a peaceful, beautiful location close to the promenade. However recently the music has been very loud, making it hard to work from there or have conversations. Wish they would turn it back down a bit though so folks can go back to enjoying the space for working and conversation.
Nestled in a quiet street corner of the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. Open, bright with plenty of seating available all around whether at tables or the window, as well as outside with benches. Good selection of coffee and pastries. Relaxing spot to hang out, work, or read on a weekend afternoon.
Great service at Tiny’s. The waiter was really friendly. If you get there around 5pm when it opens, you can seated immediately. They play good music in there too. We ordered the nachos, fruit punch Jarritos, shrimp burrito and the chicken fajitas. I like the chicken fajita but wished there was more chicken versus the onions and peppers.
Winter Beer and I came here for a catch dinner before the holidays. The restaurant was empty with only one couple at the bar. We decide to sit at the bar since there was only one person working at the bar. They do have happy hour specials. We ordered a Tiny's nachos. It was a bit smaller than expected but it was tasty. I was three bites in before a long hair was baked into my cheese. I tried to get the attention of the bartender and he was swamped as another couple and solo diner came in. When he finally came over I told him what happened and he whisked it away very quickly cutting me off. I guess he didn't want the other diners to hear about the hair, which is understandable but still rude. He offered to remake the dish which I did accept. I ordered the chicken flautas which thought they were okay. Nothing to really write home about. The shrimp diablo was tasty but the dish needed a dash or two of hot sauce to really kick it up a notch. My friend got the grilled chicken burrito bowl. They thought it was okay but wasn't very tasty and bland. They added hot sauce but it was still disappointing. We ordered churros to round out the meal and they were tasty. The nachos and shrimp diablo was the highlight of the day.
I think this place is excellent for drinks and chips, but we came to dinner here and ended up paying too much for what we got. The birria tacos were great! The chicken fajitas were not that good. Nachos were good and drinks too. We just left the place feeling we hadn’t eaten that much and we still payed 60+ per person. Would come back for happy hour but not for dinner.
Very small spot, staff was very welcoming and nice, Food was presention was very nice, order appetizers wings, Guacamole, and nachos I was blown away by how good the appetizers taste and couldn't wait for the main course to come, when the food came it absolutely sucked I was very disappointed not what I expected. It's definitely worth the visit for a sit at the bar and have appetizers because they where amazing 3 star rating
Be forewarned about the additional line item on your bill. this coffee shop now passes an additional surcharge as of Jan 2026 to your bill. When the cost of raw products globally goes down, they don't decrease the price and get to keep the additional margin (profit). but when the cost of those raw products go up, they add an surcharge to customer's bill. The company always win! Bagel was basic, not worth the marked up also. the cream cheese was a plain old philadelphia one in a sachet. Very sad food
I honestly was super disappointed during my visit here . 1. The food taste is not definitely not the greatest . Very Oily and greasy , when it comes to the tacos. Barely any real flavor 2. The Bartender doesnt not know how to make drinks correctly. puts lots of ice and barely any liquor. Which is super sad . 3. In general Management is poorly managed Would not be coming back to this restaurant and wouldn’t recommend.
Baristas blame the customers for their mistakes, and give you attitude when they are asked to fix them. I've lived in the neighborhood for years, and have seen the baristas here mock other customers, and I just sort of ignored it for the convenience. However, this happened to me recently, with the barista mocking me when I asked them to fix an order,. It made me realize how rude the baristas frequently are here. There are many other lovely coffee options in the neighborhood- Brooklyn Roasting, Nako, and Qahwah, with better coffee and kinder staff.
I've visited this café twice recently, and unfortunately, both times I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. The cashier has been consistently rude. This morning, I politely asked if my croissants could be warmed up, and he abruptly responded, "No," without any explanation. His attitude came off as dismissive and unprofessional. On a positive note, the barista was friendly and made an excellent coffee. However, the croissant itself was disappointing, stale and not enjoyable. It's unfortunate because the coffee is great, but the service, especially from the cashier, awful!
One of my drinks “got lost in the shuffle” and took 20 min to finish while others who ordered later were served. When I asked the barista I was simply told to talk to someone else. Took another 10 minutes to make after it was finally addressed. Not the service I would expect. Won’t likely revisit this location.
The pumpkin spice iced latte was awful and extremely overpriced ($8.25 plus a dollar tip 🙃). With that price it truly pains me to say I poured it out after drinking half of it. When I received it the cold foam on top was very yummy but when I took a sip with a straw, the main drink was warm 🥴 barely any ice, and syrup sitting on the bottom. (Assuming the hot espresso was poured over ice instead of into the milk to cool it first? What little ice there was melted within 30 min…) Not the refreshing and tasty treat I was hoping for. This was my first time at this coffee shop. The space otherwise seemed relaxed and inviting.
